Chapter 149 Cecilia, I Like You

Cecilia turned her back to Alaric. She couldn't afford to have any hope for him; he drove her nuts!

She had no idea when Alaric had seen her body. The thought made her feel so wronged. Without a word, she got ready to sleep.

The ward was quiet, and the night grew deeper. Cecilia lay there, on the verge of sleep. She was so mad at Alaric that her head hurt, but she was still drifting off.

"Cecilia, I like you." Alaric's voice suddenly broke the silence.

Cecilia's body tensed. Was Alaric talking in his sleep? It was really late, and they hadn't spoken for a while. By all accounts, they should both be asleep. But Alaric sounded wide awake.

In the end, Cecilia didn't turn over to check. No matter what, she wasn't ready to respond. She just thought about how Dominic had tried so hard to drive a wedge between her and Alaric. He probably never imagined that his attempt to kill her tonight would fail and actually bring her and Alaric closer, at least in her heart.

Dominic indeed hadn't expected his attempt to kill Cecilia tonight to fail. At this moment, he received a call, his face extremely grim.

Tonight, his deliberate closeness with Cecilia was partly to create conflict between her and Alaric. How could he accept the fact that these two were in love, stealing his thunder? So he wanted to drive a wedge between them. He knew very well that men have possessiveness. Once Alaric discovered that Cecilia had an ambiguous relationship with him, they would definitely have conflicts. Even if it was just to vent his anger, it would be worth it.

On the other hand, it was naturally to divert suspicion. Cecilia's sudden "accidental" death wouldn't be linked to him. After all, they had been getting along well before Cecilia's accident. Although they couldn't be lovers, they were still friends.

He never thought the assassination would fail. He had already sent so many people to kill one Cecilia. How could she still manage to escape? Cecilia should have been dead long ago.

He had even thought of giving Cecilia a chance to leave Alaric and get back together with him. Even if they got back together, it would be to deceive her feelings. He could never have any real feelings for Cecilia again. However, this ungrateful woman actually refused. For Dominic, anyone who was harmful and useless to him, was to be eliminated.. Tonight should have been her death day!

Dominic suddenly threw his phone to the ground with great force. The sound of it shattering echoed loudly, the phone smashed to pieces!

Dashiell and Cassius left the hospital room together. Dashiell drove, first taking Cassius home. Both of them kept silent. The car drove on the wide street, with almost no other vehicles around. The streetlights seemed lonely.

"Dashiell, do you think Alaric and Cecilia are a good match?" Cassius asked, looking out the window.

Dashiell smiled slightly, "When have you ever seen Alaric make an irrational choice?"

Cassius said, "But I think being with Cecilia is not a rational decision."

"Cecilia comes from a prominent family. It's good for Alaric to be with her," Dashiell said straightforwardly.

"If he really cared about benefits, that'd be fine. What worries me is he's acting on emotions, like tonight. If we're not careful, Alaric..." Cassius trailed off, still a bit shaken.

Dashiell shook his head. "He knows better than anyone what responsibilities he carries."

He knew he had many responsibilities. But he'd still risk everything for a woman.

"Don't overthink it. Just trust him," Dashiell said more casually. "Cecilia's not bad."

Cassius turned to look at Dashiell. Slowly, he concluded, "Your taste in women has never been good."

Dashiell fell silent.

"Seraphina is a prime example," Cassius continued.

Dashiell was truly speechless. When it came to feelings, he was indeed a failure.

Soon, they arrived at the Blackburn family mansion. Cassius got out of the car, and Dashiell drove back.

He returned to the Everhart family mansion. Tonight, Sebastian's proposal was successful, and their wedding should be soon. In no time, Seraphina would move out of the Everhart family mansion.

'It would be good if she moved out,' He thought lightly, slowly driving the car into the mansion, then got out and walked into the hall. It was already very late, and inside the mansion, under the dim lights, it was extremely quiet.

He also tried to move very quietly, not to disturb anyone, but just as he reached the second floor.

"Ah!" A woman's scream sounded.

Dashiell was also startled. He just looked at Seraphina in a pink nightgown, suddenly appearing there.

After seeing clearly, he calmed down. "In the middle of the night, why aren't you sleeping and suddenly appearing here?" Seraphina's tone was not good.

"I just got back," Dashiell replied.

"Why are you so late?" Seraphina looked him up and down. "Did you get a girlfriend?"

Dashiell didn't answer.

"Is it Penelope?" Seraphina was obviously a bit excited. She thought, if it really was Penelope, it would drive her mad. After all, the two people she hated most in this world were Dashiell and Penelope.

"Do you really want me to get a girlfriend?" Dashiell suddenly asked her.

Seraphina was stunned. Whether he had a girlfriend or not had nothing to do with her. She wasn't kind enough to care about his personal issues.

"It's late, go to bed early," Dashiell said lightly. He didn't get a response from Seraphina, nor did he expect one. Actually, he didn't need her response. He knew that Seraphina didn't care about how he was doing. She couldn't possibly care about his personal issues.

He walked past Seraphina.

"I hope you stay single forever," Seraphina suddenly said from behind. She seemed to be answering his previous question.

Dashiell smiled. He knew Seraphina was cursing him, definitely not having any feelings for him. And the reason he smiled was that she might very well be right.

At that moment, he said nothing and just walked away.

Watching Dashiell's back, the man she had disliked from the beginning, had a moment of affection for, and now still disliked, she felt inexplicably irritated. She just didn't understand why Dashiell couldn't stay abroad. Why did he come back to annoy everyone?
