Chapter 29 I'm Only Interested in Cecilia
Octavia never expected that the woman in front of her was Genevieve.
In her mind, Genevieve was just a bumpkin, born humble, not well-groomed or well-dressed. In their high social circle, she had no reputation at all.
Privately, some people said that Genevieve was designed to be married to Theodore when she was young. After marrying into the Lockhart family, she still had no status, just like a maid.
Now, seeing Genevieve's beautiful and elegant appearance at this moment, and that Theodore had actually prepared such a grand birthday party for her, Octavia was almost driven to jealousy because no woman in the entire Serenovia city had ever been treated like this.
It wasn't just her, Vivienne from the Lockhart family was also jealous.
She had always looked down on Genevieve. Not long after she entered the Lockhart family, Genevieve entered as well.
Vivienne never treated Genevieve as someone not to be trifled with, targeting her everywhere, even teaming up with Ophelia to embarrass her.
Genevieve had always endured it without resistance.
If it weren't for the fact that the final inheritance of the Lockhart family was given to Theodore, Genevieve would have had even less status in the Lockhart family.
But no one expected that Theodore would actually give Genevieve such a grand birthday party.
If news of this birthday party spread, Genevieve would cause a sensation in high society.
Especially after Genevieve dressed up nicely, she looked so young and beautiful, and her figure was still so well-maintained.
The more they looked at Genevieve, the more jealous they became. However, they had to endure and not show it.
At this moment, everyone in the hall was watching the elegant dance of the two in front of them.
Some people were jealous, and envious, and were just watching the scene.
In short, this birthday party was a hit in high society.
Genevieve could finally hold her head high in the aristocratic circle and Cecilia kept smiling as she watched her parents.
In her ears, she heard a familiar voice. "I heard from Cassius that you spent 590,000 dollars on a token of affection for your beloved girl..."
It was Dashiell's voice. "I never thought you liked someone so mature."
They were discussing the 590,000-dollar sapphire, which was now set in Genevieve's crown.
Cassius spat out his champagne directly from his mouth.
The two beside him seemed somewhat disdainful of Cassius's actions.
Cassius quickly wiped his mouth and said with a smirk, "You were fooled, Alaric."
"Wow." Dashiell actually guessed it, just teasing.
"Isn't it obvious? Alaric's affection was not appreciated." Cassius turned to the man next to him. "Don't you agree?"
Alaric glanced at Cassius, then left.
"Hey," Cassius called after him. He thought, 'It was just a joke; why was he angry?'
The next moment, Cassius felt that his worries were unnecessary.
After all, he saw Alaric in the dark holding a woman's hand and heading straight to the Lockhart family's backyard.
Cecilia was truly taken aback by being mentioned. She didn't mean to eavesdrop on their conversation just now.
What surprised her was that Dashiell, Cassius, and Alaric seemed so familiar. She and Dashiell grew up together, but she never saw him interact with Alaric.
She felt a bit dazed, feeling a sense of crisis. With that, she was pressed against the wall in the backyard.
Alaric's tall figure pressed against her, looking down at her.
"Alaric, are you out of your mind?" Cecilia reacted, unable to help but squirm and resist.
"Cecilia, do you know what men can't resist most? It's the struggle of a beautiful lady," Alaric said.
Damn! Cecilia wanted to curse at that moment.
She glared at Alaric with anger all over her face.
Alaric seemed oblivious to her anger, his eyes fixed on her as if they had a magical power, easily captivating people.
"Ms. Lockhart, you made me embarrassed in front of my friends today." Alaric's magnetic voice and warm breath fell on her cheek.
Cecilia cursed inwardly, ‘This jerk, he’s too good at flirting, isn't he?’
At this moment, being so close to him made her nervous.
"How do you plan to make it up to me?" he said, leaning in closer.
Cecilia's heart raced. She felt Alaric's strong body almost pressing against hers.
His lips touched her ear, making her unable to stay calm.
She hurriedly said, "You didn't say it couldn't be given to someone else."
Of course, Cecilia knew Alaric was talking about the gem.
Dashiell was obviously teasing her about giving away the sapphire Alaric had given her without any hesitation to her mother.
"Are you always so indifferent to other people's gifts?" Alaric suddenly bit her earlobe.
Cecilia's heart skipped a beat, then raced fast. She pushed against Alaric with both hands. "Let go of me!"
"Ms. Lockhart, you haven't answered me yet." Alaric's lips drew even closer.
"I gave it to your future mother-in-law; why did you blame me?" Cecilia found a reason to deal with him. Her face blushed at the moment she said it.
She was really influenced by this jerk. It was just a formality of marriage, but he made it so ambiguous between them.
Alaric smiled. A clear arc formed on his face, which Cecilia could see clearly.
"I accept this reason," Alaric said, his voice gentle.
It really made Cecilia uncomfortable all over.
"Are you cold?" Alaric asked.
Cecilia was taken aback.
It was because Alaric's hand was touching her exposed shoulder.
The strapless dress she wore tonight left her upper chest exposed.
"Why am I feeling so hot?" without waiting for Cecilia's answer, Alaric continued. His tongue actually licked Cecilia's delicate earlobe.
Cecilia gathered her courage to push Alaric away abruptly.
Alaric was pushed back several steps by Cecilia. Then he looked at Cecilia with an appreciative look, seeing her blushing and breathing heavily.
"Is Mr. Whitaker always ready to flirt at any time?" Cecilia was a bit excited.
She should have felt disgusted, but she just couldn't bring herself to hate him.
He was truly an expert at flirting. His flirting skills were simply too good.
She had lived for thirty-two years in this life after all, and she was already married.
Now she was being teased by Alaric, who was a 25-year-old young man, but still unable to stay calm.
She couldn't even remember how long it had been since she had felt her heart race like this.
In her previous life, her love and marriage with Dominic were all just plain.
"Of course not." Alaric's lips curled up. "Just to show Ms. Lockhart how flirting is done."
Cecilia felt a bit helpless. ‘Why do I feel like Alaric is holding a grudge?’ She took a deep breath and decided not to entangle with Alaric.
After all, tonight's party was their home ground, and she had a lot to do and didn't want to waste time.
She stood up and walked straight into the hall.
As she left, she heard that magnetic voice behind her again. "My desire is only for Ms. Lockhart."
