Chapter 357 Conspiracy (3) Seraphina's Accusation Against Cecilia

Cecilia didn't really see Andrew as a big deal.

She figured, give it some time, and when Andrew hadn't done squat, she'd boot him out and let him deal with his own mess. But outta nowhere, he started plotting again.

"He's not that sharp, but I bet someone's pulling his strings," she said.

Cassius kinda respected Cecilia's cautious vibe.

No wonder she was killing it at the Lockhart Group.

He was starting to get it.

How could Alaric's judgment be so spot-on?

Before marrying Alaric, Cecilia was a nobody.

But after tying the knot, she shot up to the top.

Was it just being around greatness?

"Alright, I'll keep tabs on him. If Andrew tries anything, I'll let you know," Cassius agreed right away.

"Thanks," Cecilia replied.

"Anything else?" Cassius asked.

"Nope, that's it."

Then Cassius hung up.

First thing he did was call Alaric, saying, "Alaric."

There was a response, but it was ice-cold.

Cassius was kinda ticked.

Alaric was getting more and more dismissive.

He'd been outta Serenovia City for a week, and Alaric hadn't called him once.

And when he called, he got the cold shoulder.

Holding back his annoyance, he said, "Mrs. Whitaker wants me to keep an eye on Andrew."

"Then do it."

"I already said I would." Cassius knew this was coming.

"Good," Alaric's tone was totally half-hearted.

"Busy?" Cassius asked.

"A bit," Alaric shot back.

"What could you possibly be busy with In that backwater place?" Cassius was kinda speechless.

"Lots of stuff." Alaric didn't hide anything. "I'm busy dodging schemes and setups."

Cassius frowned.

In that moment, he got it.

The next six months were make-or-break for Alaric.

If he messed up, he wouldn't be able to come back, and there were always folks trying to trip him up.

"Anything else?" Alaric asked.

"Nope, that's it," Cassius didn't have anything else. He casually asked, "When you coming back?"

"I'll see how it goes," Alaric said, "Definitely not within a month; gotta avoid unnecessary heat."

"Ever since you started hanging with the noble families, it's like you got no freedom!" Cassius complained.

Alaric didn't agree.

After all, he never had freedom!

"Let's drop it. Hit me up if you need anything," Alaric said.

Then, Alaric hung up.

Cassius put down the phone.

He was thinking, 'Is everything really about to go down?'

Thinking about it, Cassius felt a weird sense of anticipation.

Cecilia didn't get off work until 10 p.m.

That was her routine lately.

Sometimes she wondered if it was 'cause Alaric wasn't around, so there was no rush to get home.

She sat in the car driven by Augustus, heading home.

At that moment, she suddenly wanted to call Seraphina, just to check in.

Seraphina's groggy voice came through.

Cecilia frowned. "Were you sleeping?"

"Yeah," Seraphina mumbled.

"Then go back to sleep," Cecilia didn't want to bug her.

After all, pregnant women come first.

She hadn't expected Seraphina to crash so early.

Pregnancy had really changed Seraphina.

"It's cool, I'm up now," Seraphina quickly said, "I sleep most of the time anyway, you didn't mess up my nap."

"Is your morning sickness any better?" Cecilia asked.

"Nope," Seraphina said, sounding super miserable, "I only feel okay when I'm asleep. Once I'm up, it's awful, ugh..."

As she spoke, Seraphina suddenly gagged on the phone.

The next second, Cecilia heard Seraphina's painful voice, "Hold on a sec."

Then came the sound of gut-wrenching vomiting.

Cecilia could totally picture Seraphina's suffering.

After a bit, Seraphina picked up the phone again, "Okay, go ahead."

"Is it really that bad? Why don't you hit up the hospital? Could all this puking mess with you and the baby?" Cecilia asked.

"I don't wanna go to the hospital," Seraphina was firm, "I'm scared of needles."

"Going to the hospital doesn't always mean getting a shot. You should see a doc to check if you need extra nutrition 'cause of the vomiting," Cecilia suggested.

"It's fine, I only puke this bad sometimes. Whenever I see Magnolia, that old hag, I get so mad I forget about the morning sickness," Seraphina said casually.

Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.

She knew Magnolia had moved in with them.

She also knew about the beef between Magnolia and Seraphina, and that Seraphina couldn't win against Magnolia.

"What's so funny? You don't know how annoying Magnolia is!" Seraphina was super frustrated, "She won't let me wear makeup, won't let me wear high heels, won't let me wear tight clothes, and forces me to drink chicken soup every day. She's driving me nuts! If you don't see me one day, it's 'cause Magnolia has driven me to death!"

"Don't talk about death when you're pregnant," Cecilia scolded.

Seraphina didn't care.

"What about Dashiell?" Cecilia asked, "How's he doing?"

"What do you think? When Magnolia bullies me, he just stands there watching. Do you think he'd help me?" Seraphina gritted her teeth when she mentioned Dashiell.

"I mean, is Dashiell still crashing on the couch?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

"Isn't that his own choice?" Seraphina was indifferent.

"Dashiell's in recovery for his legs, and sleep is super important for him. Plus, I've sat on your couch; it's too soft and not good for Dashiell," Cecilia said.

"Could you stop talking about him!" Seraphina was furious, "It's rare for you to call me, can't we talk about something other than him?"

Cecilia chuckled.

Usually, when Seraphina dodged a topic, it was a clear sign of her inner turmoil.

Of course, Cecilia couldn't push Seraphina too hard. It was late, and she didn't want to mess with Seraphina's sleep too much, so she said, "I'll hang up now. Take care of yourself, and call me if you need anything."

"Cecilia, I told you not to talk about Dashiell, and now you're hanging up on me. Do I even matter to you anymore?" Seraphina was furious.

Cecilia was speechless.

What a ridiculous accusation!

"I've always put you first in my life, but ever since you married Alaric, you've changed! You should think about that!" Seraphina righteously said before hanging up.

Cecilia smiled helplessly.

But she also felt a sense of relief.

This was the Seraphina she had always hoped for.

The tragedy of the past life should never happen to Seraphina again!

Her eyes flickered as she looked at the sudden incoming call.

Indeed, Seraphina was right.

After marrying Alaric, she really did have someone else in her heart!
