Chapter 199 The Truth, Rebecca's Tragic End
Alaric still took Cecilia away.
Rebecca's words didn't matter.
As Alaric left the warehouse, he didn't look back at her once.
Rebecca laughed.
She watched as bodyguards surrounded her.
Her screams echoed through the warehouse.
Anyone who heard them would be terrified.
What could cause such gut-wrenching screams?
Time passed.
The night deepened.
Everything seemed calm again.
Inside the warehouse, everyone was gone.
Only Rebecca remained.
She lay on the ground, barely alive.
Suddenly, footsteps echoed.
They were getting closer.
Rebecca turned her head and saw Jasper approaching.
"You've been here the whole time, haven't you?" she asked.
He had watched her suffer.
"I warned you not to mess with Cecilia," Jasper said.
"Do you always know Alaric wouldn't show me any mercy?" Rebecca asked.
"Yes," Jasper replied.
"And it was you, not Alaric, who slept with me back then?" she questioned.
"Yes," Jasper confirmed.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Rebecca screamed, her voice barely a whisper.
Tears streamed down her face.
"If I had told you, would you have given up on Alaric?" Jasper asked.
Rebecca felt a sharp pain in her heart.
She wouldn't have.
She loved Alaric too much to care about her own life.
Nothing could stop her.
"Alaric wanted to cover his tracks," Jasper revealed.
Rebecca wanted to laugh at her own stupidity.
But all she could do was cry.
"Didn't Alaric take the drug?" she asked.
"He did," Jasper said.
"He'd rather endure it himself than let me help him, right?" Rebecca asked.
"Yes," Jasper replied.
Rebecca's heart felt numb from the pain.
"Do you want to know how he endured it?" Jasper asked.
He seemed ready to tell her everything.
Rebecca just looked at him.
"He used Cecilia's photos," Jasper said.
"I don't believe it," Rebecca denied.
She couldn't believe Alaric loved Cecilia that much.
She refused to believe that for years, Alaric had loved Cecilia.
"Alaric hasn't even slept with Cecilia. His feelings for her are just so-so!" Rebecca retorted.
It wasn't confirmed, but she believed Cecilia.
If a man really loved a woman, how could he not sleep with her?
Jasper looked at Rebecca, who still refused to accept reality, and said bluntly, "There are only two reasons a man wouldn't sleep with a woman: either he doesn't love her, or he loves her too much."
Rebecca stared coldly at Jasper as he revealed the truth.
"You know what kind of person Alaric is and the world he lives in. He doesn't sleep with Cecilia because he's afraid of dragging her into his cruel world. He loves her so much that he restrains himself and protects her," Jasper said, his voice emotionless.
Rebecca finally understood.
Alaric loved Cecilia.
And Rebecca had been pushing his limits.
"Rebecca, Alaric spared you today, not because you're important to him, but because I begged him not to kill you. I don't love you anymore. I could never love someone as ruthless and crazy as you. I pleaded for you to ease my own guilt. Feeling guilty for someone like you isn't worth it."
With that, Jasper left, truly giving up on her.
He walked out of the dilapidated warehouse, indifferent to how Rebecca would react.
That night, it was Jasper who had sex with Rebecca, to help Alaric.
Alaric could endure anything because he loved Cecilia deeply.
When Jasper got Alaric's call, he knew Rebecca was in grave danger.
Alaric mobilized everyone to find where Rebecca had taken Cecilia.
Jasper went with him.
As they left the warehouse, Jasper asked Alaric, "Don't kill Rebecca. I owe her, and I want to repay her."
Alaric didn't reply or even look at him. His mind was on Cecilia.
In the end, Alaric agreed.
He spared Rebecca in the cruelest way, leaving her alive.
He didn't know if Rebecca would choose to commit suicide after everything.
Suddenly, a gunshot echoed through the quiet night.
Jasper's eyes reddened.
The gunshot meant Rebecca had committed suicide.
So be it.
That was her choice.
It had nothing to do with him.
He left without even looking back.
