Chapter 410 Dashiell Completely Letting Go

"So, you'd rather play the villain, using your own twisted way to settle old scores, and make Seraphina hate you?" Cecilia shot back.

Dashiell let out a small laugh.

"Look, I'm not some noble hero. I just wanted an excuse to be around Seraphina. Didn't think I'd flop so hard," he admitted.

"Why do you think you bombed?" Cecilia asked.

"Seraphina's not into me. Even with all my tricks, she's still head over heels for Sebastian. As long as she's got a thing for him, it's game over," Dashiell said.

"Dashiell, I think..." Cecilia started.

"I know what you're gonna say," Dashiell cut her off. "One shot was enough for me."

"You're just gonna throw in the towel?" Cecilia asked.

He'd given it a go, and it tanked.

Anyone would call it quits.

Cecilia felt a pang of discomfort.

No matter what went down with the previous generation, she didn't want Seraphina to make the same mistakes.

If Dashiell bailed now, Seraphina would run straight back to Sebastian. And then, history would just repeat itself.

"I've given up on Seraphina," Dashiell said flatly.

"You're just gonna let her screw up like before?" Cecilia couldn't help but ask.

Dashiell went quiet for a few seconds.

Then he said, "Cecilia, do you really think that even if I was with Seraphina, she could dodge it?"

Cecilia was at a loss for words.

"As long as Seraphina doesn't like me, it's unavoidable. She'll end up stuck between Atticus and Sebastian. Knowing her, she'll pick the 'good guy,' which means Sebastian, and then she'll be against Atticus. Same old story," Dashiell said.

Cecilia nodded.

Dashiell had a point.

If Seraphina didn't like Dashiell, she'd have to choose between Atticus and Sebastian. And given her nature, she'd side with Sebastian, leading to the same mess as before.

"Why not give it one more shot? I think in the last life, Seraphina did fall for you," Cecilia urged.

Cecilia was being selfish; she didn't want Dashiell to just give up.

"When Seraphina died, I saw her phone. There was an unsent message that said, 'Dashiell, I love you.' I'm not making this up," Cecilia said, looking at Dashiell.

Dashiell shook his head. "Do you really think, with Seraphina's personality, if she liked someone, she'd keep quiet about it?"

Cecilia's throat tightened.

The unsent message didn't fit Seraphina's character.

"If she really loved me, she would've sent it. Maybe she was just unsure. Maybe it was a spur-of-the-moment thing, and she forgot to delete it," Dashiell said bluntly.

"Maybe Seraphina didn't have the guts to tell you," Cecilia said.

"Cecilia, stop making excuses for us. I can't force myself to love her anymore," Dashiell said, each word heavy.

Cecilia swallowed her next words.

Feelings can't take too much hurt.

In this life, Seraphina missed her chance with Dashiell.

"But I'll do everything I can to make sure Seraphina doesn't end up like before," Dashiell said firmly.

Cecilia was taken aback.

"No matter what, the kid Seraphina was carrying was mine. Doesn't matter who caused the miscarriage, she carried my child for four months. I owe her for that," Dashiell explained.

"What are you planning to do?" Cecilia asked, a bit excited.

Dashiell said, "I'll let Seraphina and Sebastian be together again, and Sebastian will never get the Everhart Bank."

Cecilia was stunned.

Then she immediately got it.

Dashiell saw that Cecilia understood and didn't bother explaining more.

"By the way, you really..." Cecilia couldn't help but ask.

She just felt it was a shame.

Cecilia thought that in the previous life, Seraphina just didn't have the guts to send that text message.

It wasn't like Dashiell said.

But Cecilia had no proof.

She couldn't go back to the past to ask Seraphina.

After all, she hadn't even told Cecilia about her feelings for Dashiell.

Seraphina never hid stuff from Cecilia.

Cecilia was torn.

Dashiell, on the other hand, was way more straightforward, like he had really moved on. "Forced love ain't sweet at all," he said.

Cecilia sighed.

She nodded and said, "Alright, but I always feel that Seraphina will regret it in the end."

Dashiell didn't agree.

Probably because he didn't want to say too much.

"By the way, you mentioned Sebastian's sister. Why did she come to tell you all this?" Cecilia suddenly remembered.

"Sebastian's sister likes Sebastian. She doesn't want him to marry Seraphina. So she came to me to mess up their marriage."

"I see," Cecilia murmured. "But in the previous life, I didn't see his sister."

Otherwise, she wouldn't have been clueless about Sebastian's identity.

Of course, part of the reason was that she was too focused on Dominic.

Thinking about it now, she was grinding her teeth.

"Either she messed with Sebastian's revenge and was..." Dashiell trailed off.

But Cecilia got it.

"Or she was so heartbroken by Sebastian that she left on her own." Cecilia nodded.

Those were the only two reasons.

"From the current situation, his sister shouldn't be a threat to Seraphina," Cecilia concluded.

So there was no need to worry too much.

Dashiell nodded and said, "Actually, Sebastian really likes Seraphina."

Cecilia pursed her lips.

She didn't want to admit it, but she had to.

In the previous life, after Seraphina died, Sebastian never smiled again.

If it weren't for his strong desire for revenge, maybe he and Seraphina could have had a great life together.

"So, my stepping back is the best choice," Dashiell said with a smile.

He could see Cecilia's silence.

After all, Cecilia had lived ten years longer than him.

So naturally, Cecilia knew more about many things than he did.

He was just guessing that Sebastian liked Seraphina, while Cecilia could confirm it.

"So except for Sebastian himself, he wouldn't let anyone hurt Seraphina," Dashiell said calmly.

It was like Dashiell, as an observer, was really telling someone else's story.

Cecilia nodded.

In the previous life, Sebastian only targeted Atticus.

Seraphina's death was her own choice and had nothing to do with Sebastian.
