Chapter 428 Cecilia's Matchmaking

Cecilia snapped back to reality, feeling a bit shy, and quickly looked away.

Alaric, though, was cool as a cucumber.

He turned to Cassius and said, "Dude, don't you already have a wife? What's there to be jealous about?"

Cassius was speechless. "Cut the sarcasm and stop showing off your love life. I wanna drink with you. You can have water, but you gotta join me."

Alaric didn't argue and started drinking with Cassius.

Cassius really let loose tonight, just kept knocking 'em back.

Who knows if he was really venting or what.

Dashiell was drinking too.

Not as wild as Cassius, but he was putting 'em away.

Dashiell's alcohol tolerance wasn't great.

For him to drink like this, he must've wanted to get wasted.

In the end, Cecilia couldn't help but sit next to Dashiell. She said, "Dashiell, if you can't handle it, maybe slow down. Cassius seems fine drinking solo."

"It's not just about keeping him company; I wanna drink too," Dashiell said.

"What's up with you and Seraphina?" Cecilia asked.

"We're separated," Dashiell said bluntly.

Cecilia sighed, "I've always wanted to talk you into staying with Seraphina."

"I know, and you've tried," Dashiell said, half-joking, but it was a hint for her to drop it.

Cecilia got the message.

She swallowed back what she was about to say.

Honestly, the whole thing between Seraphina and Dashiell was never really up to him; it was all on Seraphina.

She felt she needed to have a word with Seraphina again.

"Go back to Alaric," Dashiell reminded.

Cecilia frowned.

"I'm afraid he'll get jealous," Dashiell said. "When he's jealous, it's actually kinda scary."

"You've seen it?" Cecilia asked.

"Yeah." Dashiell nodded.

Cecilia felt a bit uneasy, asking, "Which woman?"

"Take a guess," Dashiell said.

"He's got so many women, I can't keep track." Cecilia was a bit pissed.

"If you pay attention, you'll know." Dashiell said, a bit slyly.

Cecilia glared at Dashiell.

"Don't glare at me, or Alaric might actually come over and fight me," Dashiell said.

Was it really that serious?

Cecilia left Dashiell's side, which made Dashiell breathe a sigh of relief.

He wasn't exaggerating.

Once, Alaric caught Cecilia kissing Dominic, and he killed a wild lion with his bare hands.

Just thinking about it gave him chills.

Cecilia went back to Alaric's side.

Alaric naturally put his arm around her and kept drinking with Cassius.

No matter how much Cassius objected, Alaric didn't let go.

Just like that, they drank past midnight.

Cassius was clearly hammered.

He went to the bathroom three or five times, each time stumbling out.

Dashiell was also drunk, couldn't even stand straight with his cane, and Alaric had to help him to the bathroom.

In short, those who wanted to get drunk, got drunk.

So, it was time to wrap it up.

Alaric called the night staff to help Cassius and Dashiell out of the private room.

Cassius kept saying he wasn't drunk and wanted to drink more, but he had no strength to resist.

He was dragged into a special car.

Dashiell was also sent to a special car.

Because Dashiell had mobility issues, Cecilia wanted to personally take him home but was refused by Alaric.

He said the driver would carry him upstairs.

Sometimes Cecilia felt Alaric only cared about her and ignored his friends.

Dashiell was his cousin, didn't he care about his health?

Did he have any conscience?

In the end, Cecilia couldn't argue with Alaric. They hopped into the car driven by Augustus and headed straight home.

Cassius and Dashiell were sent off separately by designated drivers.

Sitting in the car, Cecilia seemed lost in thought.

"What's up? Still worried about Dashiell? Chill, I've got this. I'll make sure he's safe. If something happens to him, I'd have a harder time than you," Alaric assured.

"No." Cecilia shook her head.

She actually trusted Alaric on this.

Alaric always did things with great consideration and thoughtfulness.

She was just thinking about whether to patch things up between Seraphina and Dashiell.

While Dashiell was drunk, she felt that if either of them made the first move, there might be a chance for a turnaround.

With this thought, Cecilia picked up the phone and dialed, no hesitation.

Seraphina answered immediately.

Clearly, she wasn't asleep.

"You just had a miscarriage, can't you take better care of yourself? It's the middle of the night, and you're still not sleeping," Cecilia couldn't help but scold as soon as the call connected.

Seraphina was like she never grew up.

Never took good care of herself.

From childhood to now, Cecilia had always worried about Seraphina.

"Then why are you calling me so late? Aren't you afraid of waking me up and disturbing my rest?" Seraphina retorted. "Are you checking up on me?"

"Cut it," Cecilia said angrily. "Just take care of yourself."

"Okay, I'll finish this game and then put down my phone and go to sleep, alright?" Seraphina said dismissively.

She knew Cecilia cared about her, the one person in this world who cared about her the most.

"Wait! I have something to tell you," Cecilia said directly.

Seraphina was speechless.

The one telling her to sleep early was Cecilia, and the one not letting her sleep was also Cecilia.

Was Cecilia on her period?

Why was she so irritable?

"Dashiell is drunk. Go to his apartment complex and pick him up. He can't get home by himself," Cecilia didn't want to beat around the bush.

Seraphina's heart seemed slightly touched.

The next second, she became cold. "We're separated! And I'm about to divorce him. We have nothing to do with each other. Whether he lives or dies, what does it have to do with me!"

"Are you divorced now?" Cecilia pressed.

"It's only a matter of time..." Seraphina said.

"I'm asking about now," Cecilia said.

Seraphina pouted and didn't answer.

"You're not divorced now, so you're still husband and wife. You still have the duty to take care of each other. If something happens to Dashiell, it's your responsibility," Cecilia said firmly.

"Cecilia, aren't you being unreasonable? Isn't Dashiell an adult? If something happens to him, isn't it his own responsibility..." Seraphina retorted.

"So are you going or not?" Cecilia asked.

Seraphina compromised.

Most of the time, she obeyed Cecilia.

"I'll go. Just stop nagging me.. Besides, my marriage won't be for much longer," Seraphina said nonchalantly.

"Put on more clothes, don't catch a cold," Cecilia reminded after getting Seraphina's agreement.

"Okay." Cecilia gave a few more instructions before hanging up.

Then she turned urgently to Alaric and said, "Hurry and call the driver, don't let him take Dashiell upstairs yet, wait for Seraphina!"
