Chapter 11 Stirring Up Trouble

Cecilia paused and then said, "By the way, I guess you called me back today to talk about my marriage with Dominic, right?"

Ophelia was caught off guard, not expecting Cecilia to know.

In the past, the folks at Old Lockhart Mansion had always been secretly plotting with the Kingsley family, trying to snatch the inheritance rights from Theodore through their alliance.

Now that Cecilia had embarrassed the Kingsley family, Ophelia naturally had to step in to help the Kingsleys put her back in her place.

But unexpectedly, Cecilia was no longer a pushover; she fought back fiercely!

"Yeah, I did get a sapphire from Alaric last night." As she spoke, Cecilia took out the dazzling sapphire.

The radiant light, the perfect cut, and the historical significance, being one of a kind in the world, made it utterly captivating to women. Even Ophelia couldn't help but take a few more glances.

However, she still looked at Cecilia with disdain, "How dare you bring that up, you're just shameless!"

"I have my reasons for accepting the sapphire. First, our Lockhart family are merchants, and merchants don't turn down good deals. I had no reason to reject Alaric's gift. Second, I know you're a gem collector. When I saw this gem, I knew it would catch your eye. So if it weren't for Alaric's interference, I would have bid for it. Although I didn't get it, Alaric was willing to give it to me, so I gladly accepted it."

Ophelia didn't fully grasp it yet.

She just heard Cecilia say, "I originally intended to give this gem to you."

Ophelia's eyes flickered. She was clearly a bit annoyed. She knew she couldn't afford to bid for this jewel herself.

"Didn't Vivienne just ask if my mom didn't bring you a gift? We did bring one. Unfortunately..." Cecilia's lips curled up, "You just said you didn't care for our things."

Ophelia suddenly felt a pang of regret.

She glared at Cecilia with hatred, her eyes itching as she looked at the dazzling sapphire on Cecilia's finger.

Ophelia gave Vivienne a fierce stare.

Cecilia observed Ophelia's expression. Ophelia probably didn't expect her to give her the gem.

But since she had brought the gem, Ophelia had to believe that she had intended to give it.

Cecilia quickly agreed with Vivienne, "Vivienne is right, Ophelia never goes back on her word."

"Of course!" Vivienne replied immediately.

Ophelia's face turned purple with regret.

Vincent finally understood and stopped Vivienne, "That's enough, don't say anymore."

Ophelia swallowed and said, "Regardless of the reason for accepting Alaric's gem, don't mess up your marriage with the Kingsley family. Dominic is a rare good man, so be aware of your own worth!"

"My marriage is none of your concern."

"Do you think I want to worry about it? I'm just afraid the Kingsley family will call off the engagement. Do you think Dominic really can't live without you?!" Ophelia seized the opportunity to belittle Cecilia.

Cecilia thought that her compromise and lack of confidence in her past life were probably contributed to Ophelia.

"I don't know if he can't live without me, but I don't need him! And stop pretending you care so much about my marriage. After all, when Grandpa wanted to marry me off to Dominic, you were strongly opposed." Cecilia said all the things she couldn't say before.

"What nonsense are you talking about!" Ophelia was provoked by Cecilia again.

"Didn't you want to marry Isadora to Dominic back then? You even used various means to threaten and coerce Grandpa. Although you didn't get your way, your sudden concern for my marriage now makes me think you have ulterior motives!"

"You, you..." Ophelia was rendered speechless by Cecilia. She really wanted to slap this little brat.

"Before I leave, here are a few more tips for you." Cecilia completely ignored Ophelia's anger, her expression still very calm.

She said, "You're getting old and should be enjoying your retirement. It would be better if you meddle less in Lockhart family affairs."

"What, are you mocking me for being too nosy?" Ophelia sneered.

"Don't you have any self-awareness?" Cecilia really didn't give Ophelia any face.

"Take care of yourself, we're leaving now." Cecilia didn't care about Ophelia's emotions at all.

But from now on, Cecilia was determined to completely suppress Ophelia's arrogance.

Cecilia pulled Genevieve, ready to leave.

As she was leaving, she seemed to remember something.
