Chapter 479 The Game (24) A Harsh Lesson for Penelope

Dominic never thought Cecilia would pull a fast one on him like that!

She actually teamed up with Bill to set him up, making him hand over the international e-commerce project to the Lockhart Group.

When the news hit the fan, he tried to convince the companies he had deals with, but they all bailed because of the statement from the Tackett Group. Dominic hit up a bunch of companies, but they all turned him down, scared that taking on the project would be a huge headache. No matter how much Dominic broke down the situation or swore it was just a setup by Bill and Cecilia, no one wanted to gamble with four billion bucks, or even the slashed price of three billion.

Cecilia really had Dominic backed into a corner.

He barely got any sleep that night.

The once high-and-mighty Dominic even swallowed his pride to try and sell the e-commerce project to companies he used to look down on, but they all laughed in his face and turned him away. Some of the companies he had previously trashed even took the chance to mock and insult him.

He had never felt so humiliated!

Dominic sat in the office of the Kingsley Group, surrounded by cigarette butts and a cloud of smoke.

When Penelope walked in, she was shocked by Dominic's state. Seeing his bloodshot eyes and defeated look, her heart ached. Her eyes welled up. "Dominic, what's going on with you?"

Dominic sat in his chair with a grim look, not saying a word.

"You're scaring me," Penelope said, her voice shaky.

She had never seen Dominic so messed up.

No matter what happened before, Dominic always had it under control. Even if he had to play dirty, he kept their family safe.

Were they in deep trouble this time?

Penelope couldn't handle the thought.

She was used to living the high life; if the family went broke, she'd rather die.

"What do you want?" Dominic's face was cold, not caring about Penelope's feelings.

"The Lockhart Group called again, saying they'd be here at ten to start the debt collection process," Penelope reported.

Dominic's face got even darker at the mention of the Lockhart Group.

He really wished he could kill that bitch Cecilia.

Penelope saw the look on his face. She quickly said, "Dominic, can't we do something about that bitch Cecilia? Are we just gonna let her walk all over us and show off? I can't take it!"

"Enough!" Dominic's heart was full of frustration.

He wanted Cecilia dead more than anyone.

He said, "Let me know when Cecilia gets here. Now get out!"

Penelope wanted to say more.

But seeing Dominic's grim face, she didn't dare push it.

She gritted her teeth and left.

Back in her own office, she was just as stressed.

She thought for a moment and called Octavia, "Mom!"

"What's wrong? How's it going at the company?" Octavia, not involved in the company's affairs, knew from the news that things were bad.

"It's really bad. Dominic is being pushed to the limit by Cecilia," Penelope complained.

"That bitch, what kind of dirty trick did she pull to push Dominic this far?"

"Who knows! Mom, the Kingsley Group is really in deep shit now. Dad's in jail, and it's just Dominic and me holding the fort. Can you think of a way to get rid of Cecilia?" Penelope asked.

Octavia was stumped for a moment when Penelope asked her that.

She thought for a bit and said, "Let me mull it over. I won't let Cecilia get away with this."

"Okay." Penelope nodded.

"You and Dominic focus on the company. I'll figure out how to deal with Cecilia."

"Okay."

After hanging up, Penelope's face was ice-cold.

No way was she gonna let Cecilia walk all over them.

At ten in the morning, Cecilia rolled into the Kingsley Group's reception room with Pierce, Rose, and Augustus tagging along.

After waiting for about half an hour, no one showed up to greet her.

Cecilia stayed cool, but Rose was getting pissed.

The Kingsley Group was being super disrespectful.

She was about to go find some staff, but Cecilia raised her hand and said, "No need."

Then she stood up from the sofa. "Let the lawyers handle it."

With that, she turned and left, surprising Rose with her decisiveness.

Rose couldn't help but admire her.

As they walked out of the reception room, Penelope blocked the door. "Where do you think you're going?"

Cecilia glanced at Penelope and said coldly, "Move it, you piece of trash."

"Who are you calling trash!" Penelope's face turned red, and she lunged at Cecilia.

"Step aside!" Cecilia's face darkened.

Her presence was intense.

For a second, Penelope was really freaked out by Cecilia.

But the next second, she put on a fearless look and shouted at Cecilia, "This is the Kingsley Group, I call the shots!"

Cecilia looked at Penelope coldly.

At that moment, she didn't say a word, just stared, sending a chill down Penelope's spine.

She was genuinely intimidated by Cecilia's presence.

She swallowed hard and said, "Why are you staring at me like that?"

"Get out of the way!" Cecilia's icy voice was bone-chilling and full of intimidation.

"I won't..." Before she could finish her sentence, Cecilia's eyes narrowed, and she gave Augustus a look.

Augustus stepped forward, grabbed Penelope, and threw her over his shoulder.

He slammed Penelope to the ground.

Cecilia had instructed him that he should deal firmly with anyone who deliberately tried to obstruct them.

But he should be careful not to break any limbs or injure any internal organs, just to inflict pain.

So, although it sounded like a heavy slam, it was just a superficial injury.

But it hurt Penelope so much that she couldn't even scream!

The employees who witnessed this were pale with fear, standing there, not daring to make a sound or move.

Penelope lay on the ground, wailing and cursing, "Cecilia, you bitch, how dare you do this to me! I'll sue you!"

Cecilia looked coldly at Penelope lying on the ground, watching her struggle to get up.

She stepped over her with her long legs.
