Chapter 492 Long-Lost Siblings
After signing the deal with Dominic, the e-commerce gig was back on track.
Cecilia was swamped all day getting the e-commerce project ready to roll. She swore she wouldn't pull an all-nighter, but there she was, still grinding past 9 PM to get everything sorted.
She stretched out, feeling all kinds of lazy.
Weird, Alaric hadn't hit her up with a call or text.
Then again, Alaric usually gave her space when she was in work mode.
Just as she was about to bounce, her phone buzzed. It was Seraphina.
Packing up and chatting with Seraphina, she asked, "What's up? Why the sudden call?"
"Because you never call me, duh! So I had to do it," Seraphina said, sounding a bit ticked off.
Cecilia felt a pang of guilt.
She'd been totally ghosting Seraphina because of her crazy work schedule.
"Where you at?" Seraphina, always quick to move on, asked.
"Just about to leave work."
"Come to the club," Seraphina said.
"It's too late," Cecilia shot back.
Truth was, she thought Alaric was waiting for her at home.
"It's just past 9."
"I got stuff to do tomorrow," Cecilia said.
"Tomorrow's Saturday," Seraphina clapped back.
"Alaric's back," Cecilia said flat out.
She figured being straight up was the only way to get Seraphina off her back.
Seraphina snarked, "I knew it, you're all googly-eyed over Alaric."
"I saw Alaric at the club, so I thought you might wanna catch him in the act," Seraphina added.
Cecilia was floored.
"Get over here, I saw him having a blast with Cassius," Seraphina pushed.
Cecilia's face shifted.
She thought Alaric was being sweet by not rushing her to leave work.
Turned out, he was out living it up.
Super annoyed, she said, "I'm on my way!"
She hung up and had Augustus drive her to the club.
Seraphina put down her phone, a sly grin on her face.
She'd been watching for a while.
In Cassius's private room, it was just Alaric and Cassius, no girls, not even waitstaff.
Looked like they were just having a drink.
But if she didn't stir the pot, how would Cecilia show up?
She really wanted Cecilia to come.
Being solo at the club was a drag.
She couldn't figure out why she used to love this place.
Now, watching her old crew go wild on stage, she felt totally out of place.
But she didn't wanna go home either.
She dreaded those lonely nights.
Sometimes, she even thought about her past miscarriage.
She sat in a corner of the hall, eyes peeled for Cecilia.
After more than ten minutes, she spotted Cecilia rushing in and couldn't help but chuckle.
Cecilia hurried over.
She saw Seraphina and looked dead serious. "You just had a miscarriage and you're here drinking? Can you be a little more responsible for your body?"
"Cecilia, it's been like 2 or 3 months since the miscarriage. Can you chill already?" Seraphina rolled her eyes.
Cecilia was about to say something, but Seraphina grabbed her arm. "Come on, let's go bust Alaric."
Seraphina dragged Cecilia towards Cassius's private room, which had some serious security.
As soon as they got close, a guard stepped in their way, saying coldly, "No unauthorized personnel allowed!"
"Who's unauthorized? She's Cecilia, Alaric's wife. You know Alaric? Your boss's best bud. Move aside," Seraphina said, all bold and stuff.
The bodyguard in the black suit hesitated, then spoke into his earpiece.
Soon enough, the guard respectfully let them in.
Cecilia and Seraphina walked into the private room.
The room was quiet, no music, just Alaric and Cassius chilling on the sofa.
Cassius teased, "Cecilia, you just can't get enough of Alaric, can you?"
Cecilia was speechless.
She turned to Seraphina, clearly annoyed.
Wasn't she supposed to catch Alaric cheating?
Feeling Cecilia's glare, Seraphina quickly explained, "It's good he's not cheating. Do you want him to cheat?"
Cecilia rolled her eyes at her..
Seraphina, unfazed, said to Alaric and Cassius, "Since we ran into each other, let's have a drink together."
"What? We were having a good time, and you had to butt in." Cassius clearly wasn't having it.
"Can you be a bit more gentlemanly? I'm offering to drink with you, and you're rejecting me? Are you nuts?" Seraphina yelled at Cassius.
Cassius already had issues with Seraphina.
Being yelled at, he wanted to snap back.
"Alright. Since we're all here, let's sit down and talk together," Cecilia quickly tried to calm things down.
Alaric gave Cassius a look.
Seraphina just pouted and sat next to Cecilia.
Alaric sat next to Cecilia, asking, "Why didn't you text me after work?"
"You're waitng for me to text you?" Cecilia asked.
"I didn't want to bug you at work!" Alaric explained.
"So you came to drink with Cassius."
"I haven't had a drop," Alaric said firmly.
Cecilia couldn't help but laugh.
Alaric and Cecilia were clearly head over heels for each other.
Cassius and Seraphina found it nauseating.
Seraphina picked up a glass of wine and said, "Let's drink."
Cassius didn't want to drink with Seraphina.
But he didn't want to watch Alaric and Cecilia being all lovey-dovey either.
So he started drinking with Seraphina.
He hadn't met anyone who could drink like Seraphina.
Not to mention her thing with Dashiell, just based on her drinking, Seraphina was a pro.
They went from being at each other's throats to becoming drinking buddies.
Cecilia watched them with their arms around each other and couldn't help but remark, "Are they long-lost siblings?"
"Everyone has a friend who's a bit of an idiot," Alaric said, sipping warm water. "They just happen to be each other's."
Cecilia laughed brightly.
She genuinely thought Alaric's words were spot on.
