Chapter 132 The Mysterious Alaric

Seraphina quickly freshened up, threw on some comfy clothes, and headed downstairs.

The maid spotted her right away and rushed over. "Ms. Everhart, you're up! Hungry? What can I get you?"

"Had a hangover last night. My stomach's a bit off. Just some soup, please."

"Of course," the maid said. "Mr. Rainier had me make some corn soup this morning. He barely touched it, so there's plenty left. I'll heat it up for you."

"Thanks," Seraphina replied.

She couldn't help but find it a bit ironic. Who knew Dashiell was so good at enjoying the finer things in life?

Seraphina sat at the dining table, slowly savoring the corn soup. The buttery, sweet aroma filled the air, and the warm, comforting taste settled her stomach.

She couldn't resist having another bowl.

Halfway through her second helping, Sebastian walked in.

Seeing him, a wave of guilt washed over her.

She felt terrible about what had happened with Dashiell the night before.

She couldn't even meet Sebastian's eyes.

"Seraphina, how are you?" Sebastian asked, genuinely concerned, not noticing her discomfort.

"I'm okay. Got drunk last night and just woke up to eat something," she tried to sound calm.

No way could she tell Sebastian about last night.

Even if he might understand rationally and emotionally, it would be too much.

It was a lie meant to protect him.

"You scared me to death last night," Sebastian sighed in relief. "Don't drink so much next time, okay?"

"Okay," Seraphina nodded, eager to change the subject. "Why are you here so early? Aren't you usually swamped with work?"

"I was worried about you," Sebastian smiled warmly. "I planned to come early, but I had urgent work. I didn't want to be distracted, so I went to the office first. It took longer than I thought." He looked a bit guilty.

Seraphina wondered if she was being foolish.

Sebastian was so good to her, always trying to make her happy. What more could she want?

She often complained, making him feel bad.

"Sebastian, I won't pressure you anymore. We're still young. It's okay to get married and have kids later," she said seriously.

Sebastian smiled and patted her head. "I'll try."

He meant he'd try to meet his standards sooner and marry her as soon as possible.

"By the way, have you had lunch?" Seraphina asked, suddenly realizing.

Knowing Sebastian's workaholic nature, he probably hadn't eaten.

Sure enough, he shook his head.

Seraphina couldn't stand it.

She quickly asked the maid to bring some soup for him.

Before the maid could bring it over, Sebastian suddenly asked, "I'm starving. Can you feed me a bite first?"

Without hesitation, Seraphina picked up her spoon and fed him a bite.

They looked incredibly close.

"Is it good...?" Seraphina's question trailed off as she saw Dashiell walking through the living room, heading upstairs.

Sebastian glanced over, a cold smile forming on his lips.

Just then, the maid brought over a bowl of soup.

Seraphina turned back to Sebastian and smiled, "Eat up."

She wasn't going to let Dashiell ruin her sweet moment with Sebastian.

After finishing the soup, Seraphina couldn't sit still at home.

Since Sebastian had a rare half-day off, she wanted to go out and have fun with him.

Sebastian was always game for whatever Seraphina wanted. He waited outside her room while she changed clothes.

From a distance, he thought he heard a familiar male voice.

Sebastian glanced in that direction, hesitated for a few seconds, and then walked over.

He found himself in the second-floor sky garden, where a man was talking on the phone with his back to him.

"I'm back to try to win Seraphina back," Dashiell was saying.

Sebastian's face darkened instantly.

He gritted his teeth and took out his phone, recording a video of Dashiell's back.

"Yes, after all these years, I still can't forget Seraphina, so I want to see if I can win her back."

"I know she and Sebastian are very close now, but as long as they're not married, anything is possible."

"Okay, thanks."

Dashiell hung up.

At the same time, Sebastian put away his phone and turned to leave.

As Sebastian left, Dashiell glanced sideways.

Then, he continued to look at the blue sky over Serenovia City, watching as a couple got into a car and drove away.

10 PM.

Cecilia moved her neck, feeling stiff all over.

She glanced at Augustus, who was sitting on the couch, back straight, showing no signs of fatigue.

"Are you always this serious?" Cecilia asked, stretching.

Augustus turned to look at her. "I'm used to it."

"What about your family?" Cecilia wondered how his family could stand his cold demeanor.

Augustus replied, "I'm an orphan."

"Sorry," Cecilia said, feeling a bit awkward.

"It's nothing." Augustus shook his head. "I'm used to it."

"How did you meet Alaric?" Cecilia changed the subject to avoid more awkwardness.

"At a boxing match," Augustus replied.

Cecilia asked, "He came to watch you box?"

"No."

Cecilia was surprised. "Could he have been boxing himself?"

Augustus didn't say anything.

"Alaric doesn't want you to say?" Cecilia guessed.

Augustus replied, "Yes."

Cecilia was lost for words.

Did Alaric really need to be so mysterious?

"You could have a better career. You're a boxing champ, skilled in taekwondo and mixed martial arts. You could do anything. Being a bodyguard seems like a waste," Cecilia couldn't help but say.

Augustus said, "Mr. Whitaker is very generous. He gives me a lot of money every year."

"How much?" Cecilia asked, curious.

Augustus replied, "One million dollars."

"Alright." Cecilia immediately shut up.

Her current annual salary wasn't even close to one million dollars!
