Chapter 811 Seraphina Returns
Seraphina never expected that this business trip would last half a month.
She originally thought it would be wrapped up in a week, but she didn't anticipate so many variables along the way, nearly causing the project to fail.
It was only after in-depth discussions with Mr. Ford that she realized Mr. Ford had very little intention of collaborating with Everhart Bank.
This was why Mr. Ford kept avoiding them. If they hadn't flown over to meet him in person, the project would have been lost.
Fortunately, Mr. Ford was moved by their sincerity.
Seraphina reported to Mr. Ford's hotel room door every day until he finally agreed to cooperate with them.
With the contract in hand, Seraphina and Jeremy returned to Serenovia City.
It was still afternoon when they got back.
Seraphina planned to go home and rest first. She hadn't slept well during the half-month business trip, constantly worrying about the collaboration.
She couldn't sleep at all, waking up every morning without needing an alarm. Now that the contract was signed and her wish fulfilled, she came straight back.
But as soon as she returned, she received a call from Dashiell, asking her and Jeremy to return to Everhart Bank.
The two of them, exhausted, went back.
They went to Dashiell's office.
After half a month, nothing much had changed.
Seraphina acted very composed.
The door was knocked open.
Seraphina glanced back and then remained calm.
Natalia brought in three cups of coffee, "Mr. Montgomery, your favorite mocha, made by me."
Dashiell nodded slightly and responded.
Natalia smiled sweetly.
She handed a cup to Seraphina and Jeremy each before respectfully leaving.
"The contract is signed," Seraphina took the initiative to speak.
She didn't know why, but she always felt that Dashiell seemed to be in a bad mood. When Dashiell was in a bad mood, she naturally had to cater to him.
As she spoke, she handed the contract to Dashiell.
Dashiell took a look.
Seraphina said, "It was signed according to the preliminary decision-making plan we had internally. Mr. Ford is actually very satisfied with our cooperation content."
"Very satisfied? Then why did it take half a month?" Dashiell questioned.
Seraphina pursed her lips and had to answer honestly, "Mr. Ford actually didn't want to cooperate with us anymore. Other companies were already discussing financing with them. His reason was that although Everhart Bank has no shortage of funds, we lack project experience. They have concerns about our cross-industry operations."
"This is why Mr. Ford kept avoiding us. I used to think it was because Mr. Ford was really busy, but it turned out not to be that simple. If it weren't for your reminder, this project would have really failed."
When she found out that Mr. Ford was unwilling to cooperate, she was somewhat impressed by Dashiell.
She really thought that if Mr. Ford said he had no time, he really had no time. After this experience, she learned a lesson.
People who play in the business world always have reasons for everything they do; it's never as simple as it seems on the surface.
Dashiell still showed no expression, his face still looking bad.
Seraphina continued, "We pestered him for half a month before finally persuading him. Actually, the reason we persuaded him wasn't because of me, but mainly because of you."
Seraphina wasn't flattering; it was a fact.
On one hand, Mr. Ford was moved by her persistence; on the other hand, it was Dashiell's ability in the business world.
Seraphina said, "He didn't believe Everhart Bank could operate cross-industry, but when I mentioned you, he started to hesitate. Later, he said they had great faith in your business capabilities, so after weighing the options, they were willing to cooperate with us. Then I brought the signed contract back."
From the contract signing, Seraphina felt that she and Dashiell were drifting further apart.
When she was younger, and even for a long time after growing up, she had underestimated Dashiell.
Is this the classic case of "you ignored me when I was young, but now I've become someone you can't reach"?
Anyway, Seraphina deeply felt the distance between her and Dashiell.
After Seraphina finished her report, Dashiell didn't say anything.
Seraphina didn't know what she had done wrong.
She just sat there quietly, waiting for his criticism.
After all, a few scoldings wouldn't cause any real loss.
She felt her mindset was getting better and better.
"Ms. Everhart. As the general manager of Everhart Bank, you oversee all affairs of Everhart Bank. Many decisions from the employees below need your approval before they can be executed. Do you think your departure for half a month would delay the normal operation of Everhart Bank?" Dashiell finally spoke.
As expected.
The first sentence wasn't praise for finally getting the contract signed.
Instead, it was a rebuke for acting without thinking.
Acting impulsively.
"I'll be more careful next time," Seraphina really had a very good attitude.
She didn't defend herself, even though she had been working remotely during the business trip, sometimes until 1 or 2 in the morning.
But none of this could justify her sudden departure.
Dashiell's scolding, she just listened.
"Next time you go anywhere, you must get my approval," Dashiell said coldly.
"Okay," Seraphina agreed readily.
Dashiell was the boss; he had the final say.
"Leave," Dashiell said bluntly.
Seraphina took Jeremy and left.
So tired.
Seraphina turned to look at Jeremy.
Jeremy was also clearly very tired, struggling to stay awake.
"You go home and rest," Seraphina suddenly said.
Jeremy didn't refuse; the half-month business trip was indeed more exhausting than regular work.
When Dashiell was criticizing Seraphina just now, he almost defended her.
But in the end, he held back.
In the workplace, most people still think more about themselves.
"Okay. Ms. Everhart, what about you?" Jeremy asked casually.
"Do you think I dare to leave when Dashiell is so dissatisfied with me?" Seraphina said helplessly.
After being under someone else's roof, you have to recognize your position.
"Then I..." Jeremy also felt that Dashiell might make a fuss since he was so unhappy about their business trip.
"It's okay, he mainly targets me, not you. You are under my jurisdiction, and I can help you bear the pressure," Seraphina said calmly.
This was indeed the case.
In the workplace, people generally don't manage across levels.
Whether it's upward or downward, the same principle applies.
"Go back and rest well. Just remember to come to work on time tomorrow. There are still many things to do after the contract is signed," Seraphina instructed.
"Okay, then I'll go first. Ms. Everhart, take care of yourself too."
Seraphina nodded.
She felt she was still young and could afford to squander her health.
