Chapter 340 It's Really Not Hard to Like Someone

Seraphina stormed out of Dashiell's room, skipping her unfinished breakfast, and slammed the door to her own room.

She threw herself onto the bed, fuming!

Who should be angry here?

Clearly, she was the one taken advantage of, so why did it seem like she was the one at fault?

Seraphina rolled over on the bed and picked up the phone to call Cecilia. "Cecilia."

Cecilia answered, already at work. "Sobered up?"

"No," Seraphina replied irritably.

"Who pissed you off?"

"No one."

"Dashiell?"

"Who else could it be?" Seraphina suddenly admitted.

Cecilia was speechless. "Can you two get along?"

"No way! One day, I'll divorce him!" Seraphina declared.

"What if you end up liking him someday?"

"Impossible!" Seraphina gritted her teeth.

"You called just to tell me you'll never like Dashiell?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

"Of course not!" Seraphina said angrily. "What kind of alcohol did you give me last night? I was so drunk I couldn't think straight, I still have a headache and an upset stomach. I almost died in bed last night."

"It was your favorite brandy," Cecilia replied. "I knew you liked it, so I made sure they had plenty."

"Then why do I feel so uncomfortable?" Seraphina was puzzled.

"Did you drink too much?"

"Not really, it was fine last night," Seraphina recalled, suddenly remembering Cassius. "That idiot Cassius kept pestering me to drink. He's the reason I got drunk!"

Cecilia couldn't help but laugh. "Calling Cassius an idiot now? Do you know what you two did while drunk?"

"What do you mean?" Seraphina was surprised.

"Think carefully," Cecilia teased.

"Did I just flirt with Cassius? That guy may look good, but he's not my type!" Seraphina was clearly agitated.

She had a history of flirting with handsome guys when drunk.

She thought, 'Did I lose control last night...'

"You and Cassius became sworn siblings! You even made all of us witness it," Cecilia revealed.

Seraphina felt like she had been struck by lightning.

She couldn't react for a long time.

"You don't remember?" Cecilia helped her recall.

Seraphina seemed to have a vague memory.

Then she broke down. "Was I crazy last night? Sworn siblings with that idiot Cassius? I must have lost my mind!"

"Cassius said the same thing when he woke up," Cecilia laughed.

Seraphina thought, 'Cassius has no right to complain about her.'

"Enough, I have a meeting soon. Just rest if you're not feeling well," Cecilia checked the time and reminded her, "Don't fight with Dashiell. Try to get along."

She wouldn't listen.

Seraphina angrily hung up the phone.

Cecilia put down her phone and called the intercom, "Have a meeting now. Notify the sales department."

"Yes."

Innovation Arc was the big deal she needed to secure now.

Alaric was about to leave Serenovia City for Harborvale for a week, and he was incredibly busy.

He was barely visible.

Cecilia went to work on time every day and then spent her evenings alone. By the time she was really asleep, Alaric would come home late, smelling of alcohol. And when she woke up, he was already gone.

It made Cecilia feel a bit lost.

She threw away her last tampon of the month.

She sighed softly.

He had said they would make love once her period was over.

Alaric must have forgotten.

Cecilia took a shower and went to bed.

The day after tomorrow, Alaric would leave for Harborvale.

Tonight, he was still out, socializing.

It was understandable; with his departure, people were taking turns to see him off. If he didn't go, he'd be seen as arrogant, so he had no choice but to accept every invitation.

Cecilia was asleep before Alaric carefully returned to the room.

Every night, Cecilia left a light on for him, even if she didn't wait up.

And every night, when he opened the door and saw that dim light, he felt an indescribable warmth, something he even looked forward to.

He walked over to Cecilia, crouched down, and looked at her sleeping face.

Tonight, he had drunk a bit too much again because he couldn't refuse the hospitality.

He didn't want to leave with people talking behind his back.

So, he almost never declined a drink.

After several days of socializing, he was almost at his limit.

He just watched Cecilia quietly.

If he could, Alaric wished he could put her in his pocket and take her everywhere.

He planted a kiss on Cecilia's forehead.

A soft kiss woke the sleeping Cecilia.

She frowned.

Opening her eyes, she saw a familiar face up close.

And smelled a strong scent of alcohol.

"Alaric," Cecilia pushed him gently. "Are you drunk again?"

"A little," Alaric's lips left her forehead, a seductive smile appearing on his face. In the dim light, he looked incredibly alluring.

Cecilia thought, 'How could a man be so good-looking?

Such beauty, she couldn't resist.'

Alaric was about to explain he wasn't that drunk.

Cecilia suddenly wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him.

Their lips and tongues intertwined.

In the dim light, their bodies became more and more entangled...

"720 minutes left," Alaric suddenly took a deep breath and released Cecilia.

Cecilia was stunned.

She thought, 'In the minds of straight guys, is a week really one exact week?'

She wasn't a machine that could start and stop at the push of a button.

Her period varied in length depending on her body.

The next second, she saw Alaric get up and head straight to the bathroom.

Cecilia pursed her lips, watching the bathroom door close.

She turned over and went back to the bathroom.

The next day, when Cecilia opened her eyes, Alaric was gone again, even though they had gone to bed late last night.

Not only did he come home late, but he also held back most of the night.

And he still left so early?

Tomorrow, Alaric would really leave for Harborvale.

He might be gone for six months.

Harborvale was so far from Serenovia City that he couldn't come back often.

She sighed and got out of bed.

As she turned to go wash up, she noticed a note on the bedside table.

Cecilia opened it, genuinely impressed by Alaric's clichés.

[Tonight, no socializing. I'll wait for you at home. —Alaric.]

Cecilia whispered his name.

The smile at the corner of her mouth was so obvious as to be undisguised.

It turned out that falling for someone wasn't that hard.
