Chapter 650 Exposing the Pregnancy

The dining table was loaded with a feast fit for royalty. The evening breeze gently brushed their faces, and the view was absolutely breathtaking.

Cassius couldn't help but blurt out, "Man, I used to think Cecilia wasn't all that. Then I thought, okay, she can at least hold her own against Dominic with us. But now, I realize she’s amazing at taking care of Alaric. Dude, you really hit the jackpot with her!"

Alaric's grin was unmistakable.

It wasn't often Cassius said something that made him happy.

Meanwhile, Cecilia felt a bit bashful.

She'd gotten plenty of praise growing up, and her recent business wins had earned her a lot of respect, but Cassius's unexpected compliment still made her blush.

Cecilia always felt pretty average around this crew.

"Alaric's got better taste than some people. Seriously, you’re all good friends, so why the huge difference?" Cassius praised Cecilia while throwing shade at Seraphina.

Yep.

He was talking about Seraphina.

And by "some people," he meant Dashiell.

Clearly, Cassius wasn't thrilled about Dashiell and Seraphina's relationship.

Dashiell was at a loss for words.

"Is the friend Cassius mentioned Seraphina?" Francis jumped in, curious.

Cassius nodded. "You got it!"

"Of course. How could I not know about the girl Dashiell's so into?" Francis quickly replied.

Dashiell stayed out of it.

No matter what they said, he kept quiet.

Cassius went on, "Do you know how badly Seraphina dumped him?"

"How bad?" Francis was all ears.

His curiosity was just like any other guy his age.

Was Francis really the heir of the Whitaker family, carrying a deep grudge?

"Don't underestimate him," Alaric whispered to Cecilia, noticing her gaze.

Cecilia snapped back to reality.

She didn't join their chat.

After all, Seraphina was still her best friend.

Cecilia couldn't badmouth Seraphina, and she definitely wouldn't take sides in her drama with Dashiell.

"Alright, it's Alaric's birthday today, so let's stay on topic. Let's toast to him," Dashiell suggested, clearly fed up.

Everyone raised their glasses and drank.

Cecilia picked up her glass too.

"You can't drink," Alaric stopped her.

Cecilia was taken aback. "It's grape juice."

"Drink water," Alaric insisted.

Cecilia protested, "Alaric!"

Alaric replied, "It's my birthday today."

He was just as bossy even when it wasn't his birthday.

Cecilia and Alaric's playful argument made everyone laugh.

Cassius blurted out, "Cecilia's pregnant, isn't she!"

Alaric's hand shook a bit.

"Stop pretending. I figured it out a while ago," Cassius said smugly.

Alaric's face darkened.

Cassius, unfazed, continued, "You don't need that many precautions. Lily went through the same thing, and our son turned out just fine."

"What do you know about precautions? What do you know about how Lily went through it? A guy who doesn't care about his wife's pregnancy has no right to talk," Alaric shot back.

Cassius's face turned red with anger.Cecilia couldn't help but chuckle.

Every time Alaric put Cassius in his place, Cassius was left speechless.

"Cecilia, are you really pregnant?" Francis asked, wide-eyed.

"Yep." Cecilia nodded.

Alaric pursed his lips.

No point hiding it now.

"Congrats!" Francis beamed. "Finally, another member in the family!"

Cecilia glanced at Francis.

His bright smile always tugged at her heartstrings.

The Whitaker family had been pretty lonely for years, hadn't they?

"I wonder if it's a girl or a boy," Francis mused, more excited than Alaric. "If it's a girl, she'll be gorgeous with you two as parents. If it's a boy, he'll be a heartbreaker, probably looking just like Alaric..."

"It's a girl," Alaric cut in, matter-of-factly.

"How do you know?" Francis was shocked.

Alaric replied, "I just know my own kid."

Wasn't Alaric a bit too sure of himself?

What if it turned out to be a boy? Wasn't he worried about being wrong?

"Don't tell anyone," Alaric warned seriously.

Cassius shrugged it off.

To him, having a kid was no big deal, nothing to get worked up about.

The dinner table settled back into its usual vibe.

Everyone was busy enjoying the food.

Cassius, finally able to relax, drank quite a bit.

Dashiell got drunk quickly, while Francis ended up in a drinking contest with Cassius.

Cecilia nudged Alaric. "Aren't you going to stop Francis?"

She thought Francis's health should come first.

But Alaric stayed calm, saying, "Don't worry, he's more level-headed than any of us."

Cecilia looked at Francis, finding it hard to believe he was the steady type.

After a while, Cassius was pretty tipsy.

He raised his glass boldly. "Today’s a day to celebrate. Alaric's birthday, Francis's arrival, and Cecilia's pregnancy—three great things. Everyone, drink up!"

Suddenly, Cassius yelped.

His ear was being yanked.

Everyone turned to see a furious Hugo.

Cecilia had expected his arrival because Dashiell had warned her.

She couldn't help but hide behind Alaric.

Alaric chuckled, "Now you're scared?"

Cecilia wasn't scared.

She just didn't want to clash with Hugo.

"Dad, take it easy; my ear's gonna fall off," Cassius yelled.

With him around, it was never dull.

Hugo let go of Cassius roughly, not even glancing at him, and turned to Francis with great respect. "Mr. Whitaker, I'll take you back."

Hearing this, Francis calmly put down his glass.

He didn't seem drunk at all, nor did he show any resentment.

He got up and left, as if he were used to it, and Alaric followed him.

Seeing this, Hugo wanted to say something but held back.

Cecilia watched Alaric accompany Francis out, with Hugo trailing behind.

Dashiell, who had been dozing at the table, lifted his head to glance in that direction, then silently laid back down.

Only Cassius muttered a few words, "In the future, we must make sure Francis lives a happy life!"

Cecilia's eyes flickered.

If it weren't for hearing it from them, Cecilia wouldn't have realized that Francis was an unhappy person.

How much must one endure to hide all their emotions so perfectly?
