Chapter 40 Waiting

The dining hall.
Cecilia watched as Dominic, assisted by Isadora, entered the community in the video, and then they walked into an apartment.
It seemed a bit distant from the screen, but it didn't hinder the clear view captured by the high-definition camera.
She watched Dominic and Isadora. From the moment they entered the room, Dominic suddenly seemed to change, passionately kissing Isadora, showing an urgent demeanor, not hiding any desire.
In her previous life, Cecilia was married to Dominic for ten years. She had never really seen Dominic so eager before.
Cecilia felt a bit ironic but not too emotional.
After all, she had already seen all the disgusting sides of Dominic.
In the video, Dominic carried Isadora to bed, and Isadora, under Dominic, seduced him frantically. As they kissed, they began to undress each other.
"Hey!" Cecilia's face darkened as someone suddenly snatched her phone away.
She looked at Alaric with some anger and a heavy tone. "What are you doing?"
"Are you angry watching your fiancé and another woman making love?" Alaric questioned.
"No," Cecilia's tone remained unfriendly. "I just want to make sure if they are really making love."
"Ms. Lockhart really doesn't understand men," Alaric said as he put the phone in his pocket. "Men in such situations never stop. Unless..."
Unless what?
Cecilia stared tightly at Alaric. Alaric didn't say, but his gaze was somewhat suspicious.
He changed the subject directly, "I've checked for you, one hundred percent, they made love."
"I don't need you to check for me," Cecilia said, somewhat angry.
She felt like this jerk Alaric had taken control of the situation.
"So, Ms. Lockhart wants to see Dominic's body with her own eyes?" Alaric spoke frankly. Sometimes, he was a gentleman, sometimes... just a rogue who could say anything.
"Ms. Lockhart, it's better not to look. Honestly speaking, Dominic's physique is quite average." Alaric seemed to imply something.
Cecilia sometimes found it really troublesome to communicate with him. At that moment, almost involuntarily, she blurted out with a fiery tone, "Is your physique better than his?"
"Yes, it is better than his," Alaric said confidently.
Cecilia was really getting fed up with this jerk.
What was the big deal about looking better?
It was much later that Cecilia learned what Alaric meant by saying he was better than Dominic.
"Ms. Lockhart, staying out all night, aren't you afraid of being scolded by your parents?" Alaric blatantly ignored her anger and kindly reminded her, "Your phone rang all night last night."
Cecilia seemed to react instantly. "Where's my phone?" Cecilia asked, also thinking, 'Oh no! How am I going to explain to my parents where I went?'
Alaric handed her the phone. "Why was it turned off?"
"It was too noisy, so I turned it off," Alaric said.
Cecilia really wanted to bite him hard.
Last night, her parents must have been distraught.
She quickly turned on the phone.
As soon as it turned on, there were countless missed calls on the screen.
Twenty were from her parents, some were from Seraphina, and even one was from Dominic.
Cecilia decided to call Seraphina first.
Just as she dialed, Seraphina's voice almost deafened Cecilia's ears. "Cecilia, if you don't contact me again, I'll really call the police!"
"Have you been kidnapped by Alaric? If so, I'll call the police and have him arrested and beaten to death!" Seraphina was extremely agitated.
"No, I'm fine. I just got drunk last night and slept at Alaric's house," Cecilia explained.
"Slept over?" Seraphina's voice rose again.
"Just slept."
"Does Alaric look innocent to you?" Seraphina didn't believe it at all.
She didn't believe it either, but in fact, nothing happened between her and Alaric.
She was almost certain now that nothing had happened between them last night.
After all, she had experienced making love.
The feeling of the first time making love would always be there.
However, she felt nothing strange now.
Instead, she was surprised that Alaric had maintained a gentlemanly demeanor toward her.
She always felt he could become lustful at any moment, or was it that she simply had no appeal to men?
Dominic wasn't interested in her. Alaric wasn't either.
Oh well. Cecilia felt there was no need to bother about these things.
She no longer had any expectations of men, so she didn't care how men saw her.
"Cecilia!" Seraphina called out loudly.
"In any case, I'm fine now. I'm calling to tell you that when I go back later, I'll tell my parents that I got drunk and slept at your place. So, make sure you and Dashiell stick to the same story and don't expose my lie," Cecilia said.
"Why should I be the scapegoat?" Seraphina was instantly dissatisfied.
"Because you're kind," Cecilia chuckled.
"I'm hanging up," Cecilia said, then suddenly remembered something. "If Dominic calls you, give the same answer, okay?"
"Cecilia, you've really fallen; you've actually learned to have an affair," Seraphina always spoke her mind to Cecilia.
"No, soon you'll know that the one having an affair isn't me!" Cecilia finished her explanation and hung up directly.
Cecilia always trusted and was casual with Seraphina, without any formalities or politeness. Cecilia turned to look at Alaric.
Alaric seemed uninterested in the call between her and Seraphina, idly playing with his phone.
"I'll leave the video with you." Cecilia got down to business.
"Not exposing it?" Alaric raised his eyes, asking lightly.
"Not for now," Cecilia was sure. "I want to bring him from heaven to hell when Dominic is most self-righteous."
Alaric's eyes flickered slightly.
He still couldn't quite believe Cecilia's change.
How could a person suddenly change like that?
What had she experienced to become like this now? Even the fragmented and unclear words she said last night, he pieced together later.
The result was, "Dominic, you killed my parents, destroyed my whole family, took my inheritance, and let them die in pain. I will definitely repay you with double the pain!"
If it were just a nightmare, how could she keep fighting for this goal in reality? And if it weren't a nightmare, how did Cecilia know that Dominic would kill her whole family and take her inheritance? So many doubts.
Alaric didn't show any of them in the end.
"I'm leaving," Cecilia said after discussing business.
She didn't dare delay any longer.
She planned to leave the villa.
"Ms. Lockhart, are you planning to leave wearing my pajamas?" Alaric teased her from behind.
