Chapter 758 Seeing Lily Again
Cassius hung up the phone.
His face darkened.
So many years.
He had been with Alaric for many years, and even if he couldn't see Alaric in person, he could sense Alaric's slightest emotions.
Alaric had just hung up the phone directly, definitely because he couldn't continue the conversation.
He must have been crying too hard to speak.
Alaric hadn't cried much in his life.
Terrence and Maeve's deaths, Francis's death, and now the death of his feelings.
Cassius didn't need to think to know that if Alaric ever mentioned divorce to Cecilia, no matter how he tried to keep Cecilia by his side, her feelings for him would completely disappear.
How unlucky does a person have to be?
To end up in such a miserable state.
Cassius sighed heavily.
Dashiell, lying in the hospital bed, also heard the conversation between Cassius and Alaric.
He also understood many of the reasons behind it.
Cassius had already told him everything.
Because he understood Alaric, and because he understood Cecilia, he didn't know what to say now.
"Dashiell, take my advice, don't get too caught up in feelings anymore," Cassius said to Dashiell. "It's not worth it. Look at Alaric, how deeply he's been hurt. If he hadn't fallen for Cecilia, would he be in so much pain now?"
Dashiell smiled.
If feelings could be controlled, they wouldn't have such power.
He said, "Did he leave alone?"
"He was definitely driven away by Cecilia."
"Cecilia will never understand him."
"But what can you do?" Cassius said. "If it were you, what would you choose?"
Dashiell was silent.
Anyone would choose Alaric's way.
"So, Alaric has to bear everything himself. Of course, I don't blame Cecilia. I've spent some time with her, and I know her strength. From her perspective, I understand her grievances too," Cassius said, unusually clear-headed.
Dashiell nodded, "Just hope time can heal everything."
Including hatred or feelings.
"That's all we can do," Cassius nodded, suddenly thinking of something, "You still like Seraphina, don't you?"
Dashiell couldn't stand how quickly Cassius changed the subject.
"You like her, and if you do the next thing, you won't end up like Alaric..." Cassius began to worry, "Should I suggest Alaric find someone else to do it?"
"No need," Dashiell refused directly. "Alaric considered everything and that's why he asked me to do it."
Cassius frowned.
"He's giving me the authority to handle it my way," Dashiell explained.
Cassius thought about it and seemed to agree.
And ultimately.
Although Alaric was in a high position now, he didn't have many people he truly trusted.
That insidious Tomas had already planted many spies around Alaric.
Everything he did was being monitored by Tomas. Anyone he used now might not be his own person. The only ones he could trust were Dashiell and Cassius.
"Then it's up to you," Cassius said heavily.
Dashiell smiled.
It was rare for Cassius to be so emotional.
"By the way, you don't need to rush. Alaric just said to take care of your health first," Cassius reminded.
"I know."
"In any case, Dashiell, after Francis's death, I really feel that living is not easy. Those who are always around might suddenly be gone. I'm afraid of losing now, and thinking about Alaric, who has nothing, he's even more afraid of losing," Cassius said heavily. "We have to live well!"
"Okay," Dashiell nodded.
Cassius saying such things felt a bit out of place.
But it really hit home.
"Cassius, why don't you go back first?" Dashiell suddenly said.
"Are you tired of me?" Cassius was a bit displeased.
He had talked a lot today, but he was speaking from the heart, genuinely.
Dashiell actually disliked him.
"No, I was just thinking, you rarely come back from Astralton City, don't you want to see Maxwell? You said living is not easy, family is so important, go spend time with Maxwell."
Cassius did miss Maxwell a bit.
He didn't refuse, "Are you sure you'll be okay?"
"I'm sure," Dashiell nodded.
It was just some superficial wounds.
They would heal with time.
"Then I'm really leaving?"
"Okay."
Cassius wasn't one to hesitate. He left the hospital directly.
He really did miss Maxwell, and also Lily.
He left the hospital and drove back.
The Blackburn Mansion, Hugo wasn't there.
He had been helping Alaric a lot lately, even more diligently than Cassius.
Cassius understood.
Having finally regained everything from the Royal Family of Whitaker, he would be very careful to guard it.
So for a long time, it was just Lily and Maxwell at home.
Thinking of them, his heart inexplicably beat faster.
He walked into the hall with big strides.
In the hall.
A slender figure was lying on a yoga mat, following the TV screen to do yoga poses.
Her body was very flexible, her body lines very beautiful, every move was done perfectly, fully immersed, not noticing someone had entered the hall.
Until.
Suddenly turning around.
Lily almost screamed in fright.
Cassius had suddenly returned, standing casually in front of her, looking down at her every move.
Yoga poses were quite exaggerated.
For example, the splits she was doing now felt very ungraceful.
Lily quickly retracted her legs, not forgetting to adjust her clothes. The tight, low-cut outfit made it easy for Cassius to see everything.
"Not practicing anymore?" Cassius asked, looking at Lily's actions.
Lily got up from the yoga mat, "No."
"Where's Maxwell?"
"The nanny should be with him, he's sleeping," Lily quickly answered.
Cassius's sudden return made her feel a bit uneasy.
Thinking of the last time they had sex, it was not a pleasant experience.
Cassius said, "Go take a shower first."
He saw the fine sweat on her body.
To be honest, if there weren't servants at home, he would have stripped Lily's clothes off right there.
He felt that even the sweat on her body carried the scent of hormones.
Lily's heart sank.
Sure enough, there was no luck with Cassius.
Cassius left a sentence and went upstairs.
He went to Maxwell's room, where the nanny was accompanying him to sleep. Seeing Cassius, she quickly greeted him respectfully, "Mr. Blackburn."
"When will he wake up?" Cassius asked.
"Probably in about an hour."
Cassius looked at Maxwell's chubby face and thought for a moment, "You can go out, I'll stay with him for a while."
"Yes, Mr. Blackburn," the nanny quickly agreed.
Cassius climbed into Maxwell's bed, staring intently at Maxwell's face.
Suddenly, he felt a surge of fatherly love.
