Chapter 88 Returning to Cecilia's Home
"Are you expecting something?" Alaric asked with a bright smile.
Cecilia was lost for words.. She turned her head away, not wanting to see Alaric's face anymore. She angrily went to sleep.
Alaric kept staring at the back of her head, clearly sensing her anger. So he suddenly turned over, facing away from Cecilia, and whispered, "Sharing a bed, who's the one being tormented?!"
Hearing this, Cecilia was stunned. The next second, she thought, of course, it was her who was being tormented.
The Next Day.
Cecilia frowned, feeling a bit uncomfortable. She groggily opened her eyes, not knowing what time it was. In that moment of confusion, her eyes widened as she felt a chill on her back.
"Don't move; let me see if it's better," came Alaric's deep voice from behind her.
Cecilia held back. Alaric gently touched her scabbed wound with his fingers.
Fortunately, the wound wasn't too deep. Compared to the time Caspian hit him, it was much less severe.
"I'll change your dressing one more time, then you can get dressed and move around," Alaric said.
Cecilia didn't respond, still immersed in her anger.
After a while, Alaric finished applying the medicine and bandaged her up.
Cecilia moved a bit, asking, "Is it done?"
"No," Alaric replied.
Cecilia was surprised. What else was there to do?
At that moment, she felt a kiss on her back, which made her angry.
She heard Alaric's amused voice from behind, "I want a reward."
After saying that, he got off the bed, clearly looking like he had succeeded in his scheme.
Cecilia gritted her teeth, thinking, 'Alaric better not fall into my hands one day!'
Then she sat up. Yesterday, even a slight movement would make her feel excruciating, but today, her back didn't hurt as much.
She moved her body again, and it really didn't hurt much. She wondered if her wound healed quickly or if Alaric used some effective medicine.
Cecilia got off the bed and, holding her barely-there clothes, walked straight into the walk-in closet. As she closed the closet door, she heard Alaric's voice, "Don't wear a bra."
Cecilia didn't want to listen to him, but the moment she put on a bra, the wound really hurt. In the end, she chose not to wear one.
She picked a thick sweatshirt and a jacket, making sure no one could tell she wasn't wearing a bra underneath, then walked out of the closet. She saw Alaric already dressed up.
She frowned and asked, "Where are you going?"
"Aren't you going back to your parent's house?" Alaric reminded her.
Cecilia suddenly realized that they were supposed to go back yesterday.
Alaric said, "Let's go downstairs for breakfast. After breakfast, we'll leave."
Cecilia took a deep breath and followed Alaric downstairs.
No one else was downstairs, just Arabella.
Cecilia remembered it was Monday, and everyone else had probably gone to work.
Arabella looked at Cecilia and quickly approached her warmly, saying, "Cecilia, are you feeling better? I wanted to check on you last night, but Alaric wouldn't let me, saying you were not properly dressed and would be embarrassed."
Cecilia forced a smile and replied, "I was in pain yesterday, but I'm fine today."
"That's good," Arabella said quickly, looking a bit sad, "Thanks to you, I found out about Emily yesterday. I spent the whole night talking to her and learned what she really wanted all these years. I had protected her too well. Thanks to you, Emily opened up. Otherwise, I can't imagine the consequences."
"As long as I could help Emily." Cecilia smiled sweetly. "I was worried I might have been too harsh yesterday and embarrassed Emily..."
"No," Arabella interrupted Cecilia, "You have no idea how grateful I am."
Cecilia said, "Gratitude is too formal. I want the family to be better."
"Alaric is lucky to have married you," Arabella said sincerely.
Cecilia could feel Arabella's genuine approval.
She felt a bit self-deprecating. In her past life, she had tried so hard to please the Kingsley family, only to be harmed by them. In this life, she was putting on a show and received such recognition from the Whitaker family.
Cecilia and Arabella chatted for a while. Alaric urged Cecilia to finish breakfast, and when they left the Whitaker family, Arabella loaded their car with gifts for Cecilia's parents. Arabella was really kind to Cecilia.
The car left the Whitaker family's villa.
Cecilia looked back at Arabella standing at the door, seeing them off. "Your mom is really nice." Cecilia genuinely admired. Arabella was totally different from Octavia.
"My mom isn't nice to everyone," Alaric said with a faint smile, "It just means you're exceptional."
Was that a compliment?!
Cecilia always felt that Alaric's words weren't that simple.
She heard him say softly, "I don't have to worry about your future relationship with her."
Cecilia rolled her eyes, thinking, 'When do you ever worry?!‘
Besides, their marriage was fake. They would go their separate ways eventually.
Cecilia didn't argue with Alaric. She always felt she couldn't win against him.
The car soon arrived at the Lockhart family's villa.
They walked into the villa's hall.
Cecilia's gaze paused for a moment. Alaric noticed it, too. In addition to Cecilia's parents, Vincent's family was also there, including Cecilia's grandmother, Ophelia. What a small world.
Cecilia gave a mocking smile and took Alaric's arm.
Alaric's lips curled up slightly, and they walked over together.
Ophelia sat on the sofa with an elder's demeanor, saying, "It's the fourth day after your wedding, and you're just now coming to greet us. You have no manners!"
According to the Yakurosean Empire tradition, Alaric and Cecilia should have visited their family on the second or third day after the wedding. They were indeed a day late.
However, Cecilia smiled. "Compared to Isadora seducing someone else's boyfriend, this is hardly a breach of manners."
With just one sentence, Cecilia managed to make Ophelia and Vincent's entire family fall silent!
