Chapter 596 Kidnapping (3) Alaric Arrives

In her past life, Cecilia was always plotting and scheming for Dominic, but she never really mingled with the noble families.

Now, in this life, she wasn't sure if she was already knee-deep in the political mess between the two big noble families.

She bit her lip, trying to keep her cool. Pierce had just said he wouldn't kill her, so at least she wasn't in immediate danger.

Out of nowhere, a car's headlights appeared in the distance, making Cecilia's heart race.

Was it Alaric?

Pierce tensed up too.

He jumped out of the driver's seat, yanked open the back door, and dragged Cecilia out, pressing a black handgun to her head.

Cecilia was shaking with fear.

"Don't be scared, I won't hurt you, but you need to play along," Pierce whispered in her ear.

Cecilia bit her lip, trying to steady herself.

A sedan screeched to a halt in front of them, and out stepped Augustus and Rose.

They took in the scene, and Rose, trembling with fear, shouted, "Pierce, are you out of your mind? What are you doing? Let go of Ms. Lockhart. If it's money you want, just say so. I'll call Mr. Lockhart right now. Don't do anything stupid!" Her eyes were red with tears.

Cecilia's throat tightened.

She'd always been kind to Rose, but she never thought Rose would risk her life to save her in such a dire situation.

"Where's Alaric?" Pierce ignored Rose and coldly asked Augustus.

"On his way," Augustus replied, looking grim.

Cecilia had been in danger under his watch, and he couldn't shirk that responsibility.

"Then we'll wait for him," Pierce said.

"Pierce, what are you trying to do?" Rose was on the verge of breaking down. It was a shame because Rose had once admired Pierce.

She thought he had skills like Cecilia's and even considered dating him, but she felt unworthy and let it go. Now, she couldn't believe Pierce could be this kind of person.

He had so many talents—why turn to crime?

She just couldn't wrap her head around it.

Rose's crying made Pierce's face darken even more. "Take her away!" he snapped, losing patience.

Augustus looked at Cecilia.

Cecilia nodded and said, "Take Rose away first."

"I'm not leaving..." Rose was frantic, only thinking about Cecilia's safety.

"You'll just be a burden if you stay," Cecilia said firmly. "I won't be in any danger."

"But..." Before Rose could finish, Augustus dragged her into the sedan.

Augustus was strong, and Rose couldn't fight him off.

He quickly got back in the driver's seat, floored the gas, and sped away.

As long as Cecilia wasn't dead, it was okay.

Alaric would come to her rescue eventually.

Augustus drove fast.

Rose, who had been struggling, now stayed silent.

She was scared of getting into a car crash and really dying.

Rose's eyes narrowed as she saw a sedan speeding toward them from a distance.

As the two cars met, Augustus slammed on the brakes, coming to a sudden stop, and Rose was almost choked by the seatbelt.

The next second, she saw Augustus get out and drag her from the passenger seat. Before Rose could react, Augustus jumped back into the sedan and sped off after the car that had just passed them.

"Augustus, you jerk!" Rose yelled.

He had left her, a woman, stranded in this desolate place.

What if she ran into trouble?

Men were the worst!

By the coast, two sedans pulled up one after the other at their destination.

Alaric stepped out of the car, followed by Cassius from the passenger seat, while Augustus trailed behind in the other car. The three of them turned to face Pierce and Cecilia.

When Cecilia saw Alaric, she didn't know why, but she got even more nervous.

She had always wanted to know Alaric's true identity, but now that the moment had come, she was scared.

She didn't know what Alaric's identity would mean for them!

She felt that their current life was what she had always dreamed of, the perfect life.

Thinking of this, she looked at Alaric intently.

Alaric glanced at Cecilia and mouthed the words, "Don't be afraid."

Every time Cecilia was in danger, it seemed Alaric was there to save her.

She shook her head, silently assuring Alaric that she was okay.

Alaric smiled slightly, as if praising her bravery, while Pierce watched their interaction closely.

He said, "Is that enough?"

Alaric's eyes narrowed.

Cecilia was being held by Pierce, and his sudden voice startled her.

Her reaction made Alaric's face darken even more.

"Your target is me; let her go," Alaric said coldly.

Pierce said, "That's not happening. I still don't know who you really are. Maybe I can't take you on, and besides, there are three of you against just me."

Alaric asked, "What exactly do you want?"

"Tell me who you are!" Pierce demanded.

Alaric replied, "Alaric."

Pierce pressed, "Besides Alaric."

Alaric responded, "Someone from the Whitaker family, the top noble family in the Yakurosean Empire."

"I don't want to keep playing games!" Pierce pressed the gun tighter against Cecilia's head.

Alaric's face tightened.

Cecilia was also terrified by the sudden move, barely daring to breathe.

Her body trembled slightly.

She had believed that after killing Dominic, her days would be worry-free.

"I am Alaric. I don't know what else I can tell you about who I am!" Alaric gritted his teeth.

It was clear he was holding back his anger.

"I can kill her." Pierce's finger lightly touched the trigger.

Alaric stared coldly, his gaze terrifying.

"I'll count to three. If you don't tell me, I'll shoot her." Pierce threatened.

Cecilia's body trembled.

The fear of death made it impossible for her to stay calm.

"Three!" Pierce counted down.

Alaric's fists clenched, veins bulging.

"Two!" Pierce continued.

Alaric's body was tense to the extreme.

Just as Pierce was about to speak, Cecilia shouted, "Didn't you say you wouldn't kill me?"

Why did she believe Pierce just now?

Pierce was not the man she was used to; he was a completely unfamiliar presence.

"I forgot to mention the condition. The condition is that Alaric cooperates. Obviously, he's not cooperating, so I have to teach him a lesson." Pierce's voice was devoid of any emotion.

Pierce had no feelings.

Cecilia tried to control her emotions as she looked at Alaric.

Everyone wanted to stay alive.

The scene of being stabbed to death by Dominic in Cecilia's previous life seemed to suddenly reappear in her mind.

The fear of death made Cecilia feel as if all her strength had been drained!
