Chapter 508 The Outbreak of a Major Accident (1) Everything Has Begun
Even though Alaric had dinner plans, Cecilia still clocked out right at 5:30 PM.
Lately, most of the company's projects were running smoothly, so she had fewer things to stress about. The big focus now was finding a way to take over the Kingsley Group.
She never let go of her deep-seated grudge. The Kingsley Family had to be completely humiliated and destroyed!
Driving Augustus's car back, her eyes narrowed when she spotted Juliana getting into a fancy car a few blocks from the Lockhart Group.
With Juliana's current salary and assets, there was no way she could afford such a ride. More importantly, she was in the back seat, looking pretty uneasy.
Cecilia watched the car drive off in the opposite direction. Her gut told her something was off.
She picked up her phone and called, "Cassius."
"Cecilia, Alaric's back. Why are you calling me? Can't you ask him if you need something?" Cassius grumbled.
"He's busy; I don't want to bother him."
"And I'm not busy?" Cassius snapped.
"Are you?" Cecilia asked.
Cassius paused, then admitted, "Not really."
Cecilia chuckled. "Help me track a car, license plate AC46688, and find out who owns it."
"What happened?" Cassius asked.
"Just check it first. I'm not sure about my hunch yet."
"I'll let you know when I find out."
"Thanks."
"Don't thank me; I'm doing this reluctantly," Cassius muttered.
Cecilia laughed.
After hanging up, Cassius quickly called Alaric, "Cecilia asked me to check a car for her. Should I do it now?"
"Go ahead," Alaric replied.
"Okay." Cassius always followed Alaric's orders. "I've set everything up for your dinner tonight."
"Good."
"Is someone really planning to make a move against you?" Cassius asked.
"Just a hunch," Alaric said casually.
A hunch? Since when did Alaric go on hunches?
Cassius didn't press further and went to check the license plate number.
Juliana sat properly in the back seat. Next to her was Penelope, who was on the phone, looking serious and a bit impatient. "Don't worry, Cecilia didn't see us. I made Juliana walk several blocks, and I waited for her there."
"Good." Dominic kept reminding her, "Just be careful. Cecilia is very sharp."
"I know, you go ahead with your business. I can handle it," Penelope assured him.
Dominic said a few more things before reluctantly hanging up.
Penelope looked annoyed. She really didn't get what Dominic was so scared of. No matter how capable Cecilia was, she would never admit that Cecilia was better than her.
She turned to look at Juliana, who seemed nervous.
"I'm taking you to get a little makeover. You already look somewhat like Cecilia; with a bit of makeup, you'll look just like her. When Alaric gets drunk, we'll give him some medicine and send him to the hotel. You know what to do next, right?" Penelope explained.
Juliana nodded, but she was still super nervous about what was going down tonight. She never thought the Kingsley Family would come to her. When Penelope called, she got straight to the point, asking if Juliana wanted to get with Alaric. After some hesitation, Juliana said yes, leading to tonight's plan.
Penelope eyed Juliana, her face full of cunning. She knew Juliana had always wanted to take Cecilia's place. With Vincent's family out of the picture, Juliana was the only one left. She wasn't doing great now, but she had big dreams. As long as they dangled some benefits in front of her, she'd bite.
Plus, their partnership made sense; they both hated Cecilia and wanted to see her fall. With such a perfect match, how could Juliana say no?
Penelope couldn't wait to see Cecilia's reaction after Juliana ended up in Alaric's bed. She was determined to knock Cecilia off her pedestal and crush her!
The night was hazy. Cecilia lay in bed, staring at her phone, waiting for Alaric. It was almost midnight, and he still hadn't come back. She was getting a bit annoyed. He had promised to come back early.
She resisted the urge to call him, knowing it was rude to interrupt during social events. She kept waiting in bed. At 1 AM, her phone rang. It was Cassius. "Cecilia, come downstairs to get Alaric. He's drunk."
Drunk? Cecilia quickly put down her phone and rushed downstairs. She heard some noise and quickened her pace. When she got there, she saw Cassius dragging a very drunk Alaric.
She had never seen him this wasted before.
"Alaric, why did you drink so much?" Cecilia was a bit angry. Didn't he care about his health?
Alaric looked up at her, his eyes a bit blurry, but he was smiling.
Even in this state, Alaric was still flirting with her.
"Give him to me." Cecilia couldn't stand it and took Alaric from Cassius. Alaric was really heavy. When he leaned on her, she almost fell. She struggled to support him and thanked Cassius before helping Alaric upstairs, step by step.
"Take good care of him," Cassius said to her back.
Cecilia pursed her lips, while Cassius smirked. He turned and left.
Alaric never did anything without a reason. If he hadn't been prepared tonight, Alaric would probably be in Juliana's bed by now.
Cassius's eyes narrowed. He quickly got back into his car, driving while making a call, "Where's Juliana?"
"Mr. Blackburn, Juliana suddenly disappeared," the other side said respectfully.
Cassius's face darkened, and he asked, "I told you to keep an eye on her."
"We were watching her, but she slipped away somehow. We're looking for her now!"
"Find her right now! Bring her to the Blackburn Family as soon as you do," Cassius shouted.
"Yes, sir."
Cassius hung up. Given Dominic's abilities, it was impossible for Juliana to disappear under his subordinates' watch. So, this was not simple at all! It might involve someone behind the scenes.
Cassius gritted his teeth. It seemed like everything was truly beginning.
