Chapter 554 Dominic's True Colors Revealed
After saying her piece, Lyra stormed out.
Just as she reached the door, Dominic yanked her back. "Who said you could leave?" he barked.
"Let go of me!" Lyra yelled.
"Stay here!" Dominic demanded.
"Dominic!" Lyra screamed.
"You can't leave!" he insisted.
"Let go of me!" she screamed again.
Dominic didn't budge, and Lyra shook with anger. She lost it, trying to shove him away, her nails scratching at his face and body.
At first, Dominic just held her back, but he quickly grew impatient. In a fit of rage, he slapped her hard across the face.
Lyra was stunned.
She stared at him in disbelief. "You actually hit me!"
When Penelope hit her, Lyra fought back and moved on because Penelope didn't matter. But Dominic hitting her? That slap left her momentarily deaf in one ear.
Dominic, seething with anger, glared at her. Seeing her defiance and thinking about all the crap he had taken from Cecilia, Lyra, and Tomas, he realized he had hit his breaking point.
Then Dominic completely lost it.
"So what if I hit you?" he snarled.
He slapped her again, even harder, knocking her to the ground.
The pain was like nothing Lyra had ever felt. She wanted to kill him.
She got up and tried to hit him back.
But Dominic kicked her hard in the stomach, making her scream in pain.
She had just had a miscarriage, and her body was already wrecked.
Now, she was being abused by Dominic like this.
She clutched her body as he kept punching and kicking her.
As he hit her, he spat, "Lyra, did you think I loved you? Did you think I couldn't live without you? You're just a pawn to me, just like Cecilia. No, you're not even as good as Cecilia! At least she's prettier than you. You're just an idiot!"
"Dominic!" Lyra screamed from the ground.
She realized how stupid she had been to fall for Dominic, to believe he only loved her.
Turned out, just like Cecilia said, Dominic only wanted power.
"I'm done pretending!" Dominic shouted, kicking her again.
Gone was any trace of his former gentle and elegant self; he was a monster now.
"Flattering you was just because you're the Monroe family's daughter. Why else would I choose you over perfect Cecilia? When I was with you, all I could think about was her! Yeah, you're right; I like Cecilia. I only settled for you because I couldn't have her! Now that you know, what can you do? Think you can still fight back when you're under my control?" he ranted.
"Dominic, I'll have my dad kill you!" Lyra threatened through gritted teeth.
At that moment, she truly wanted him dead.
Dominic sneered, looking even more terrifying as he laughed. "Do you think I'll let you see Tomas?"
"What do you mean?" Lyra's face showed panic.
"Let me spell it out for you, so you get it clear before you die!" Dominic sneered. "Whether your miscarriage was planned or an accident doesn't matter to me. What matters is that I can't let Tomas find out. If he does, he'll blame me entirely and might even kill me. I can't risk that. So, I have no choice but to kill Alaric first!"
"Dominic, you're a beast!" Lyra spat.
"Call me whatever you want!" Dominic glared at her. "If you had just listened to me, behaved, and not used Tomas to threaten me, I might have spared your life. But now, you have to die!"
"What are you going to do?" Lyra's voice trembled with fear.
"What am I going to do? Of course, I'm going to kill you!" Dominic grabbed her neck. "After I kill Alaric and gain Tomas's trust, I'll make it look like you died in an accident. Tomas won't know how I abused you! I can even pretend to be heartbroken over losing you to gain his sympathy," he said.
The more Lyra listened, the more horrified she became.
Dominic shoved her away. "This is what happens when you don't obey!" he snarled.
"Dominic!" Lyra screamed, but he ignored her. His patience had run out. Since he couldn't control her, he had to get rid of her.
He dusted off his clothes and turned to Penelope. "Let's go."
Penelope, who had been watching the whole time, looked cold and even pleased.
She thought, "Lyra deserves this."
Penelope spat on Lyra. "Idiot."
Then she followed Dominic out.
Filled with extreme hatred, Lyra coldly watched their backs.
She had never experienced such violence before, and she struggled to get up from the ground.
Lyra finally managed to drag herself to the door.
She tried to open it, but it was already locked.
Desperately, she pounded on it with all her remaining strength.
From outside, a cold voice echoed, "Quiet down. Making a scene won't do you any good."
Lyra screamed in anger.
How dare Dominic imprison her? And he said he would kill her?
She vowed to make Dominic suffer a terrible death. She would make him suffer a terrible death!
Under the same night sky, Cecilia sat on the balcony, gazing at the moon.
Cassius had just called, confirming that Lyra had indeed suffered a miscarriage.
Obviously, this news had been deliberately hidden by Dominic. Otherwise, it would have spread by now.
That meant Dominic concealed this matter to gain Tomas's trust.
However, given Lyra's personality, she would definitely not let this go without a fight.
Cecilia had made it clear, and Lyra couldn't possibly not know that the miscarriage was related to Cecilia.
And Lyra did not pursue the matter and there was no reaction from Tomas's side indicating that Lyra had not relayed the message back.
The only possible reason she hadn't relayed it was that Dominic had not allowed it.
If Dominic had forbidden it, Lyra would have inevitably severed ties with him.
Once Dominic didn't allow it, Lyra would break with him. As expected, Dominic had already severed ties with Lyra, and given his cruelty, he would definitely kill her.
Cecilia sneered; Dominic's death was just a matter of days!
