Chapter 663 The Dinner Party (2) I'm Not Drunk
As soon as Dashiell and Seraphina walked in, they got the royal treatment and were seated right in the middle of everything.
Everyone was trying to get on their good side.
Dashiell was working the room, chatting with everyone.
The vibe was awesome from start to finish.
The banquet kicked off, and even before the food came out, the drinks were already flowing.
Seraphina could handle her booze.
She drank like a champ.
Dashiell, on the other hand, was a lightweight; his face turned red after just a few drinks.
Seraphina figured she should step up.
After all, she couldn't resist the lure of a limited-edition designer bag.
She picked up her glass and said to a guy who came to toast, "Mr. Rainier's had a bit too much. How about I drink with you instead? Let him take a breather."
Dashiell shot Seraphina a look.
The guy knew who Seraphina was and wasn't about to say no. He quickly replied, "I didn't expect Ms. Everhart to look out for Mr. Rainier like that. It's an honor to drink with you!"
With that, he downed his drink in one go.
Seraphina didn't hesitate; she picked up her glass and did the same.
Seeing Seraphina like that, others quickly lined up to toast her.
They skipped right over Dashiell.
Seraphina didn't turn anyone down.
Meanwhile, Dashiell spent most of his time chatting with the State Office officials, occasionally having a few drinks.
In the middle of the lively banquet, Dashiell suddenly pulled Seraphina up from her seat.
Seraphina was caught off guard, and before she could react, Dashiell had already dragged her away.
By then, quite a few people were already drunk, so not many noticed their exit.
They assumed Dashiell and Seraphina had gone to the restroom.
Seraphina was indeed dragged into the restroom by Dashiell.
She pushed Dashiell away and rubbed her slightly sore wrist. "I don't need to pee!" she exclaimed.
"I didn't ask you to drink so much," Dashiell said coolly.
"I'm not drunk," Seraphina snapped back, glaring at him.
She turned to the sink and rinsed her mouth with water.
She wasn't drunk at first.
But after rinsing her mouth, she felt a bit queasy.
She couldn't help but gag.
She forced herself not to throw up.
Dashiell just watched her.
After gagging, Seraphina felt a bit embarrassed.
"I'm not drunk," she insisted.
"You don't have to drink with everyone who toasts you," Dashiell said, ignoring her stubbornness. "Most people in there are just trying to suck up to us, so even if you don't drink, they won't care. The only ones you really need to respect are the State Office officials. They can't handle much. I can take care of myself."
Seraphina glanced at Dashiell.
Was he giving her a lesson on socializing?
Couldn't he have said this earlier? She'd already drunk so much, and now he was explaining.
Dashiell could see what Seraphina was thinking; she never hid her emotions.
"Take a break; you can come out later," Dashiell said and started to leave.
Seraphina watched him go.
She suddenly thought of something and quickly stepped forward.
She didn't pay much attention; there was water on the floor.
She was wearing high heels, and with one step, she slipped and fell forward.
