Chapter 308 Don't Touch Me

She thought, 'How nice it would be if it was a dream.'

Seraphina sneered and sat up from the bed.

She didn't want to see Dashiell again for a second.

She didn't want to remember, for a second, all that she had experienced last night, but the memories were unmistakable and kept echoing inside Seraphina's mind.

Seraphina clearly remembered that she had been the one taking the initiative all night long.

She threw off the covers and got out of bed.

As soon as her feet touched the ground, Seraphina suddenly collapsed.

It turnedout the plot in romance novels wasn't a lie.

Too much wild indulgence could really make the whole body weak and the legs and feet sore. The moment she fell to the ground, Dashiell, apparently asleep, suddenly opened his eyes and bent down to help her.

As soon as his fingers touched Seraphina's arm, Seraphina screamed, "Don't touch me!"

In an instant, she could completely break down.

Dashiell's fingers twitched slightly and slowly withdrew.

Seraphina glared at Dashiell.

She took in the harmless look on his face and the trace of unguarded disappointment in his eyes.

Her gaze dropped to the bed where the sheets had fallen away, revealing his bare torso covered in a network of bruises.

It looked as if he had been beaten.

His pale skin was marred with dark, angry marks—evidence of the frenzy from the night before.

Seeing this made Seraphina's anguish even more intense.

Even though she had initiated the wild night, Dashiell was still a man.

She thought, 'Does his body need to be so tender, so easily bruised?

'What kind of man is he, anyway? He might as well be a woman!'

Dashiell seemed to sense Seraphina's gaze. He pulled the sheets up to cover himself.

Fuming, Seraphina gritted her teeth and climbed off the bed. She struggled to keep her balance as she made her way to the door.

Her body felt drained of strength, but she mustered a surprising amount of force to slam the door shut. The impact was deafening, echoing with the weight of her anger.

Dashiell watched in silence as Seraphina stormed out.

Before they got into bed, Seraphina's last words to him had been that she hated him. After they were done, her first words had been a demand for him not to touch her.

He knew that last night's intimacy had only made their already strained relationship even worse.

Back in her own room, Seraphina collapsed onto the floor and sobbed uncontrollably.

She thought, 'How have I ended up in bed with Dashiell?

'I've preserved my purity for Sebastian all this time, and now I've given it to Dashiell?!'

Her cries of despair filled the room. She felt as though she wanted to bash her head against a wall—anything to end the suffering.

Seraphina didn't know how long she let her emotions spill out in her room.

When she finally went to the bathroom to shower, she noticed that some marks had been left on her body as well.

Though they were insignificant compared to Dashiell's, any reminder of their passionate encounter was more than she could bear.

She scrubbed furiously, desperate to erase the marks from her skin.

Her mind replayed the events of the night over and over.

Throughout the entire ordeal, Dashiell had been entirely passive.

He had only responded when he couldn't hold back any longer, gripping her body tightly in a moment of involuntary strength.

It was as if he was struggling to contain his desire, but failing.

Seraphina could vaguely recall the moments when Dashiell's resistance gave way, exposing a trace of sensuality.

With a surge of frustration, she scrubbed even harder.

She pleaded with herself to stop thinking about last night.

She was terrified of losing her sanity.

She washed herself over and over, scrubbing with relentless determination.

But no matter how many times she scrubbed, she couldn't wash away the memories.

Her efforts felt futile, yet she couldn't stop, repeating the process over and over...

"Ms. Everhart!" The bathroom door suddenly burst open as Lucy entered.

Seraphina's face flushed with rage. The intrusion, especially at such a volatile moment, was the last straw. "Get out!" she screamed.

Lucy, taken aback by the unexpected scene, stood frozen. She had known Seraphina was in the shower, but seeing Seraphina completely naked left her feeling awkward and embarrassed.

She hesitated, unsure how to respond.

"Get out, I said get out!" Seraphina screamed, almost ready to come to blows with Lucy.

Lucy quickly regained her composure and said, "Ms. Everhart, you've been in the shower for too long. If you continue, you might risk getting dizzy..."

"I don't need your concern, just get out!" Seraphina ranted, losing her cool.

Lucy was well aware of Seraphina's fiery temperament and generally avoided provoking her. Faced with such aggression, she instinctively wanted to flee.

But then, something came to mind, and she summoned the courage to speak up. "It's Mr. Raninier who asked me to check on you."

"I don't want you looking at me!" Seraphina snapped.

"Mr. Raninier is worried you might do something drastic and told me to keep an eye on you," Lucy explained.

"I won't!" Seraphina exclaimed loudly. "It's not worth it for me to die for him!"

"...Mr. Raninier is a good person," Lucy couldn't help but put in a good word for Dashiell.

And she wasn't lying. As a helper from a rural area, Lucy had worked for several households in the city. Dashiell was indeed the best employer she had encountered. He was not only even-tempered but also treated her well, occasionally teaching her and encouraging her to enroll in adult education for more options in the future.

"Will you just leave or not!" Seraphina didn't want to hear any good words about Dashiell, not even for a second.

Once upon a time, she had also thought Dashiell was a good person. Despite claiming to everyone that Dashiell and Magnolia were up to no good, scheming for the Everhart family's wealth, deep down, she still felt that Dashiell wasn't that bad.

If only Dashiell hadn't resorted to such despicable tactics to marry her, she would have continued to believe he was a good person.

As Seraphina's anger flared up again, Lucy quickly exited and closed the bathroom door behind her.

She thought, 'Ms. Everhart's temper is truly terrifying.'

"Ms. Everhart, I'll wait right outside," Lucy called out to the closed door. "If you don't come out after ten minutes, I'll knock. And so on..."

"Can't you just get out when I tell you to?!" Seraphina was truly exasperated.

She thought, 'One Dashiell is enough; now there is Lucy too. Does Dashiell intentionally want to make my life difficult?!'

"Mr. Raninier told me to keep a close eye on you," Lucy repeated.

Seraphina felt like she was going to choke on her own blood. She really thought she could be driven to death by these two people.

She suddenly flung open the bathroom door, startling Lucy. Pushing Lucy aside, Seraphina made her way to the bed and wrapped herself tightly in the blankets.

"Ms. Everhart, would you like something to eat..." Lucy ventured.

"Get out!" Seraphina barked, her temper at its peak.

Lucy looked at her, then left the room, closing the door behind her.

Seraphina remained cocooned in the blankets, wishing she could stay wrapped up forever.
