Chapter 187 Rebecca's Utter Defeat

With that slap, Rebecca was done for.

Hitting someone in public was the lowest of the low.

For a public figure, being uneducated is unforgivable.

Cecilia watched coldly.

Maybe Rebecca's outburst wasn't due to a lack of foresight but because she knew the consequences and still chose to lash out.

Rebecca had been causing trouble in the business world, and Starlight Group wouldn't tolerate her anymore.

Plus, the Adams family, who had been at odds with her for years, would seize this chance to crush her completely.

It was almost impossible for Rebecca to turn things around.

Cecilia watched coldly.

This was nearly the end.

She put down her phone and looked at Rose.

Rose seemed stunned.

She thought there was no way out, but then this unexpected twist happened.

She pondered, 'Is Cecilia just too lucky? No, luck is what jealous people talk about. This world runs on strength.'

Rose couldn't help but study Cecilia.

From the start, Cecilia knew about Wendy's scandal. She picked Wendy as the spokesperson, knowing Rebecca would snatch it. Not only did she let Rebecca take it, but she also made her pay dearly. Now, Rebecca probably wished she were dead.

Once everything was clear, Rose really admired Cecilia.

She thought, 'I'll never underestimate Cecilia again.'

"I need you to do a few things for me," Cecilia said, ignoring Rose's gaze.

She wasn't good at lying, so she wouldn't deny being the mastermind.

But she couldn't admit it openly either.

Such tactics couldn't be openly discussed.

Rose was smart.

She didn't mention it.

But deep down, she really admired Cecilia.

Cecilia said, "First, since we just signed Harmony Threads, make a big announcement to attract other luxury stores. Second, use the Starlight Group's mess to renegotiate deals. Businesses won't want to move into Starlight Mall anymore; they'll likely choose us. Third, get the businesses already here to offer the best discounts. Combine these with our mall's discount policies for a grand reopening sale next Saturday. Fourth, contact Lily's agent and get Lily ready for the opening. Also, set aside two days for me; I need to discuss the live broadcast event with Lily."

"Live broadcast?" Rose was puzzled.

"Yes, live selling," Cecilia replied.

"What?" Rose asked.

Cecilia didn't explain, just said, "For the tasks I mentioned, there's one point to note. Regarding the third point, we also need a discount plan. Hand the plan over to... Juliana."

"Juliana?" Rose looked at Cecilia, confused.

'Cecilia and Juliana are arch-enemies, aren't they? Now Cecilia is handing this over to Juliana, what is she thinking? Isn't she afraid Juliana will mess it up?' Rose thought.

Cecilia gave a cold smile and thought, 'It'd be better if Juliana messes it up. Then I can finally kick her out. Her presence always makes me uncomfortable.'

In the end, Rose followed Cecilia's instructions and got everything organized.

With that, the Lockhart Group's Tower of Light project was in full swing.

Meanwhile, the Starlight Group's Starlight Mall took a huge hit after the press conference. Rebecca was widely condemned for her public outburst. Within three days, the Starlight Group announced an indefinite suspension of the Starlight Mall's development. They decided to focus on their traditional chain supermarket business, aiming to provide better returns to consumers. Due to Rebecca's incident, they issued a public apology and immediately removed her from her position, promising she would never be involved in the group's operations again.

Rebecca was a total loss, and her future looked bleak.

Cecilia saw the news and didn't react much.

She noticed Alaric didn't react either.

He didn't even ask a single question.

Four days after the Starlight Group's incident, the Tower of Light's business attraction project had increased by 200%, meaning 50% of the stores were leased. At this rate, hitting an 80% occupancy by the opening date was achievable.

Cecilia was organizing materials, preparing to confirm each step for the Tower of Light's grand reopening on Saturday, when her phone rang.

She looked at the caller ID.

Even though it was an unfamiliar number, she knew who it was.

Sometimes having a photographic memory wasn't necessarily a good thing.

She answered, "Rebecca."

"Yes, it's me."

Cecilia asked, "What's up?"

"Feeling smug now?" Rebecca questioned.

"Not really," Cecilia smiled faintly, "It was the result I expected, so no surprise."

"Expected?" Rebecca's composure crumbled, "Cecilia, did you plan all of this?"

"Why do you say that?" Cecilia asked.

"You could've secured the Harmony Threads lease long ago, but you didn't, making me think I had a chance. Then, when I thought I could shine, you embarrassed me! You knew my personality, so you used this method to provoke me, forcing me to take risks with the Starlight Group's project. Once I failed, I'd be kicked out by my family. You even knew the Adams family's tactics!" Rebecca ranted.

Cecilia didn't deny it.

Rebecca continued, "Was Wendy's issue deliberate too? You made me sign Wendy at a high price, knowing she had a scandal. Once you exposed it, I'd be finished. You planned everything to trap me, didn't you?"

"Yes," Cecilia admitted directly.

She had nothing to hide.

Her admission clearly agitated Rebecca even more.

Rebecca would rather believe it was all a coincidence than accept that Cecilia was a hundred times smarter than her.

She couldn't accept that Cecilia could so easily render her powerless.
