Chapter 437 Cecilia Can't Convince Seraphina

Cecilia was totally floored by what Seraphina just said.

Seraphina wasn't just being a drama queen; when push came to shove, she made a lot of sense. "Cecilia, Dashiell doesn't even wanna be with me anymore. You think I should still try to make it work? I never even liked him to begin with, and being with him was always a compromise. Now that he's done, should I really cling to him like some desperate loser?"

"I think Dashiell must be going through something to act like this," Cecilia said, standing her ground.

A miscarriage alone wouldn't make Dashiell break up with Seraphina so decisively.

If he gave up so easily, Dashiell wouldn't have pushed so hard for marriage in the first place.

"What could he be going through? Maybe he just had an epiphany? Maybe he just thinks I'm not worth it?" Seraphina said, dripping with sarcasm.

"Did you crash your car because of Sebastian?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.

"I told you, it's got nothing to do with Sebastian," Seraphina snapped.

"Sebastian had a car crash, you were all worried and stuff, and then Dashiell found out?" Cecilia guessed.

Otherwise, it really didn't add up why Dashiell would suddenly let go.

"I don't know. To me, whether he knows or not doesn't matter much. My crush on Sebastian is no secret; Dashiell couldn't possibly not know," Seraphina said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Seraphina, do you really think you like Sebastian?" Cecilia asked.

"I really do. Cecilia, if I liked Dashiell, I would've liked him ages ago. Why wait until Sebastian showed up?" Seraphina shot back. "I really don't like Dashiell. I really, really like Sebastian."

Cecilia was at a loss for words.

Seraphina was so sure of herself that Cecilia didn't know how to argue.

In fact, she was starting to believe Seraphina.

It seemed like Seraphina and Dashiell were headed straight for Splitsville.

"Remember that night you called me to take care of Dashiell?" Seraphina asked.

"Yeah. Did anything happen between you two?" Cecilia asked.

"I took care of him all night, and when he sobered up, he got all pissed off." Seraphina recalled, still fuming.

How could Dashiell be such a jerk!

"What happened?" Cecilia asked.

"Nothing happened, it's just that Dashiell's lost his mind," Seraphina said, visibly pissed. She had already planned to divorce him, and after that night, she was even more determined. Once she was back on her feet, the first thing she'd do was divorce Dashiell. From then on, they'd be enemies.

"Are you really mad?" Cecilia asked.

"I'm furious!" Seraphina said.

"Have you thought about why you're so mad? Why Dashiell's bad attitude gets under your skin so much? If it was someone unimportant, a few harsh words would just piss you off for a bit. But if someone important says something hurtful, you'll remember it forever," Cecilia said, trying to be reasonable.

"I won't," Seraphina said bluntly. "I just think he's awful, and that's why I'm mad. It's got nothing to do with whether he's important or not!"

"Seraphina, marriage isn't something to take lightly. You've been through so much together and finally developed some feelings as a couple. Aren't you scared you'll regret it if you just divorce like this?" Cecilia asked.

"I will never regret it if I get divorced!" Seraphina said firmly.

It seemed there was no changing her mind.

Cecilia was totally out of ideas.

Usually, Seraphina would listen to her, but on this one, she was being so damn stubborn that Cecilia was stumped.

"Alright, stop trying to talk me out of it. Matters of the heart are only clear to oneself. Only I know if I'm happy or not! You can't get it." Seraphina was done talking about Dashiell.

"Seraphina..." Cecilia started.

"If you say one more word, I'll cut you off," Seraphina warned.

"Just one sentence," Cecilia promised.

Seraphina thought for a sec and said, "Fine, go ahead."

"Don't rush into this divorce thing. Give yourself and Dashiell some time, and then decide after a bit," Cecilia said.

"How long?" Seraphina asked.

"Three months," Cecilia suggested.

"No way," Seraphina shot back. "One month tops."

"Why?" Cecilia asked.

"I don't want to keep Sebastian waiting too long," Seraphina said bluntly.

"Seraphina, you're still married. Shouldn't you avoid thinking about Sebastian right now?" Cecilia was fuming.

"That's why I want to get divorced ASAP! So I can think about someone else without guilt," Seraphina said.

"You're hopeless," Cecilia was exasperated.

"Yeah, my love for Sebastian is hopeless," Seraphina said.

"What if I told you Sebastian isn't a good guy?" Cecilia finally snapped.

Dashiell had his reasons.

He said he could keep Atticus and Seraphina safe in his own way.

It was, in a way, to make up for the crap Seraphina went through by marrying him.

And she didn't want to stress about so many things anymore.

"If Sebastian isn't a good guy, then there are no good people in this world!" Seraphina said through gritted teeth.

"What if he really isn't?" Cecilia asked firmly.

"Then I'll jump off the top floor of the House of Everhart Bank," Seraphina said, word by word.

Cecilia felt a stab in her heart.

Because, in a past life, Seraphina had actually jumped from there.

She quickly covered Seraphina's mouth, saying, "Don't say stuff like that."

"It doesn't matter if I say it," Seraphina had absolute faith in Sebastian. "Sebastian is not a bad guy."

"No matter what, you shouldn't say stuff like that," Cecilia said seriously.

But Seraphina didn't take it seriously.

And because of Seraphina's words, Cecilia didn't dare to push the conversation further.

She said, "Think carefully about your marriage with Dashiell. If you have even a tiny bit of feeling for Dashiell, I advise you not to get divorced. This means your feelings for Sebastian aren't that deep. Otherwise, you wouldn't have fallen for someone else."

"You've said enough." Seraphina really didn't want to hear it anymore.

She wanted no room for negotiation and firmly believed that she only had feelings for Sebastian.

As for Dashiell, at most, she felt sorry for him.

After all, Dashiell wasn't bad to her, except for the miscarriage incident.

"If you don't want to listen, I'll leave," Cecilia said, checking the time.

"Do you have to be so cold?" Seraphina watched Cecilia get up from her chair, clearly annoyed.

"Unlike you, I don't have the luxury of being idle all day. I have to work tomorrow."

Seraphina wrinkled her nose.

"When you recover, you should get back to work too," Cecilia advised.

Seraphina was a bit miffed.

She wanted to go back to the days when she could totally rely on others and never had to lift a finger.
