Chapter 781 Let's Not Keep This Child
Lyra's explanation was ignored by Cecilia.
Alaric also pretended not to hear.
No one paid any attention to her.
Lyra became increasingly angry, her face turning red. "I really didn't do it, Cecilia is falsely accusing me, she's falsely accusing me!"
"So noisy." Cecilia frowned.
A simple sentence outweighed a hundred of Lyra's defenses.
Alaric stood up and walked towards Lyra.
His face was extremely grim.
Lyra was frightened by Alaric's expression.
She didn't say anything more.
"I'll have someone send you away from Serenovia City."
"I'm not leaving," Lyra refused flatly. "Why should I leave? I haven't done anything wrong. Why do you want to send me away?"
"Alaric, let me tell you clearly, I won't leave. Not only will I not leave, but I will also stay in Serenovia City. I've already discussed it with my parents, I want to join the Lockhart Group and take the position of General Manager to help you manage business affairs!"
Lyra said fiercely.
Alaric is currently consolidating his power, and the Monroe family can see it.
They claim to support his every decision, but they will never let Alaric develop to a point where they can't control him.
So when Lyra proposed to stay in Serenovia City and get involved in Alaric's business affairs, Tomas agreed immediately.
Of course, Lyra had her own motives for staying in Serenovia City.
On one hand, the Lockhart Group was where Cecilia once shone. She wanted to replace Cecilia and shine there, to suppress Cecilia completely.
On the other hand, she could get closer to Alaric while managing the Lockhart Group. In Astralton City, many things were inconvenient because of the Monroe family, but in Serenovia City, she could do whatever she wanted.
With such a well-thought-out plan, how could Lyra give up?
"I don't want to say it a second time!" Alaric directly ignored Lyra's words, his voice even colder.
Lyra bit her lip.
Alaric can be terrifying sometimes.
She held back her anger and turned to leave.
As she left, she threw out a sentence, "I'll leave on my own, no need for you to send me!"
She slammed the hospital room door shut, furious.
Cecilia glanced in the direction of the door, then turned her gaze back to Alaric.
As he prepared to approach her, she said calmly, "Aren't you leaving?"
Alaric pressed his lips together.
"You should leave too," Cecilia said bluntly.
Alaric really didn't want to see Cecilia's undisguised rejection of him.
In the end, Alaric didn't leave.
He sat by Cecilia's hospital bed and said, "You don't have to use this method to drive me away."
Cecilia looked at him.
She actually knew that Alaric understood everything.
He knew Lyra didn't really push her, he knew her purpose was to make them leave.
For him and Lyra to leave together.
She said, "Alaric, let's not have this child."
Alaric's body visibly trembled.
It seemed he didn't understand what she was saying.
"I said, I don't want it," Cecilia repeated, clearly and firmly.
Alaric stared at Cecilia intently.
He thought her actions today were just a silent protest, using the baby's safety to threaten him to stay away, and to anger Lyra.
He didn't expect, or even dare to think, that Cecilia really didn't want this child anymore.
"I find that I no longer have any expectations for this child. Rather than being unwanted, it's better not to be born," Cecilia said calmly.
It was as if she had thought everything through.
She really didn't want it anymore.
"I am looking forward to it," Alaric's throat moved, clearly suppressing his emotions. "So I will make sure you give birth to her."
"Alaric, I'm not threatening you," Cecilia looked at him. "With things between us like this, do you think the child will be happy if born?"
"I will give her happiness."
"How will you give her happiness? By making her an illegitimate child, ridiculed by others?"
"I will do my best to fulfill my responsibilities as a father, I will come back often to be with her."
"Then how will you explain to her that besides being with her, you also have to be with another woman and another child?"
"She will understand."
"She won't," Cecilia sneered. "I don't even understand, do you think she will?"
Alaric pressed his lips together.
"Forget it," Cecilia seemed unwilling to say more. She said bluntly, "Since it's between the two of us, we shouldn't drag a third person into it. I'm telling you out of respect, after all, we tried hard to conceive this child, you have the right to know. But I'm not asking for your opinion."
Meaning she had already made up her mind, she was just informing him.
Whether he agreed or not didn't matter to her.
"I won't let you have an abortion," Alaric said firmly.
Cecilia's eyes flickered.
The disgust in her eyes was evident.
"I said, I won't let you have an abortion," Alaric repeated. "No matter what decision you've made, I will make it clear to you, I won't let you have an abortion. Don't doubt my ability."
"You make me feel that respecting you is just self-humiliation," Cecilia sneered.
Alaric pressed his lips tightly together.
Cecilia's disgust for him was clear.
But he ignored it.
The room was tense.
The door was knocked.
George knocked and entered.
The moment he came in, he felt the tension between Alaric and Cecilia.
He hesitated, unsure if he should be there.
At that moment, Alaric spoke, "Bring the food over."
"Yes, Mr. Whitaker."
George respectfully walked over and served the cooked oatmeal.
Alaric took the oatmeal from George, scooped a spoonful, blew on it gently, and brought it to Cecilia's mouth.
Cecilia looked at it, silent.
She said, "Alaric, do you think I will eat it?"
"Eat," Alaric didn't answer her question, his voice gentle.
"Leave," Cecilia turned away from him.
Alaric's throat moved slightly.
He placed the oatmeal on the cabinet beside him and said, "I'll leave, but you have to eat the oatmeal."
"Alaric, can't we just separate?"
"I said no," Alaric answered firmly.
"Isn't Juniper pregnant with your child?" Cecilia said sarcastically.
Alaric clenched his fists, "That's hers. Your child is yours."
Cecilia sneered. She said, "Alaric, you really think you're an emperor. Having many wives, all should bear you children."
Alaric felt humiliated by Cecilia's sarcasm.
George on the side couldn't bear to listen anymore.
But it seemed, he couldn't refute either.
