Chapter 584 Competition (6) Threat
Seraphina was completely speechless at that moment.
She just stared at Dashiell.
Dashiell actually wanted her to sit in the passenger seat, like she was his bodyguard or something!
Who did he think he was?
After all, everything Dashiell was doing now was still for her benefit.
What was the big deal?
Dashiell didn't bother explaining, acting like he didn't even notice Seraphina's anger.
He took the laptop from her hands and started working on it.
His fingers moved quickly.
He completely ignored the furious Seraphina beside him.
Seraphina turned her head to look out the car window, not wanting to see Dashiell for even a second.
Yet through the car window, she could clearly see Dashiell's serious profile.
She always felt that when Dashiell was using the computer, he was fully focused, like nothing around him could distract him.
Seraphina pursed her lips, wondering if she had been paying too much attention to Dashiell these past few days, and tried to divert her attention.
Naturally, Dashiell didn't notice Seraphina's small movements; he was fully immersed in his work.
Indeed, Everhart Bank's network had never been breached, which meant that Unity World Bank couldn't have obtained Everhart Bank's internal information, making today's events impossible.
And today's events were the work of an insider.
Who could it be?
No one else but Sebastian.
Sebastian wanted to use Unity World Bank to drive Dashiell out of Everhart Bank. As long as Dashiell was not there to restrain Sebastian's development, Sebastian could regain Atticus's trust and smoothly take over Everhart Bank.
So Sebastian's main focus now was to get rid of Dashiell.
The best way to get rid of Dashiell was to make him fail to fulfill his original promise.
Using market competition to achieve this goal would not only accomplish his aim but also clear him of suspicion, truly killing two birds with one stone.
As Dashiell thought silently, the car arrived at Everhart Bank's largest branch in Serenovia City.
At this moment, Everhart Bank's security was maintaining order, and the police were already there to persuade the crowd, but the people on the scene were still unyielding. They demanded an explanation from Everhart Bank and refused to leave otherwise.
Seraphina was unaware of this situation, so she was a bit stunned when she saw the crowd causing trouble.
Before she could ask what was happening, she saw Dashiell already getting out of the car and walking towards the crowd.
She thought for a moment and quickly followed him.
The noisy scene quieted down for a while with Dashiell's appearance.
"I am the general manager of Everhart Bank, Dashiell," Dashiell introduced himself.
As soon as he spoke, the crowd instantly became agitated.
"You finally decided to show up. Now that you're here, solve our problem. Why did we get so little from the dividends we bought from you two years ago? You must give us an explanation!"
"Exactly. Why did you make so much money while we got so little? When we signed the contract, it was said that this was an investment. We invested our principal with you for unified operation, and the final profit was to be split fifty-fifty. Now we only got at most 20%!"
"You must give us an explanation and compensate for our losses!"
Despite the noisy crowd, Dashiell's face remained serious.
Seraphina couldn't stand these people's unreasonable behavior.
They were clearly just troublemakers.
"Everyone, please calm down. I can give you a reasonable explanation," Dashiell said, keeping his cool despite the crowd's agitation. "Back then, Everhart Bank launched this dividend project as a customer appreciation event. It was only available for one week, and only a few users got to enjoy this benefit."
"Exactly, we got the news and lined up in the middle of the night to invest in this project, and now you're deceiving us like this!" someone interrupted, clearly pissed off.
Hearing this, more people started to chime in.
Dashiell raised his voice, "What I want to say is that this dividend project was the biggest customer appreciation event Everhart Bank has had in the past ten years. The dividends given to you are unprecedented in banking history. You can calculate the principal you deposited and the interest you received, and see how much it increased compared to the normal interest rate..."
"We don't want to hear this!" the ringleader, Otto Harvey, cut him off. "All the benefits we received are what we deserve! Just because we got a big discount doesn't mean you can do whatever you want and say no when you want!"
"We gave you everything we promised!" Dashiell pulled out the agreement from back then and said, "It clearly states that the dividend project is a fifty-fifty split of the net profit after deducting our management fees, operating costs, and all other expenses. Otherwise, our bank would be at a loss!"
"Who knows what your net profit is? Did you ever give us a financial report before each dividend? No, which means you secretly altered the earnings!" Otto clung to this point.
Dashiell's face showed a slight change.
If they weren't coached or even trained, they wouldn't be this professional.
He said calmly, "I can give you the financial report, right now."
Just now in the car, besides checking if Everhart Bank had been breached, he spent most of the time organizing this financial report.
"We're not professionals. Who knows if the report you give us now is modified?" Clearly, these people were just causing trouble and had no intention of resolving the issue.
Dashiell said, "If that's the case, why did you demand the financial report from us? Even if we give it to you, you won't understand it."
"You!" Otto was rendered speechless by Dashiell, his face flushing with anger.
Seraphina, standing beside, for the first time thought Dashiell was quite good at debating.
"I have the report, and I can give you an explanation. Please move to Everhart Bank's VIP reception room, and I will give you a clear response," Dashiell said loudly.
He also wanted to calm things down first. The longer it dragged on, the worse the impact.
"No way!" Just as others were about to compromise, Otto firmly refused and incited the crowd, "Don't listen to him. If we go in now, he will threaten us and prevent us from fighting for our rights. Whatever needs to be said, say it now, in front of the media. Don't be easily fooled by him!"
Dashiell's face visibly darkened.
Clearly, these troublemakers had no intention of resolving the issue; they just wanted to escalate it.
Dashiell said, "According to the laws of the Yakurosean Empire, spreading rumors, causing trouble, and deliberate defamation are crimes. With the negative impact you've brought to Everhart Bank, a ten to twenty-year prison sentence wouldn't be excessive!"
