Chapter 144 The Accident Occurs (3) Successfully Escaping

"Ah!" Cecilia screamed.

The car was about to crash right in front of her.

Augustus made a sharp turn, swerving left.

They thought it was a dead end, but halfway through, a narrow alley appeared.

The alley, likely a night market spot, was mostly cleared out, with just a few stalls left. The engine's roar startled the remaining vendors, who quickly moved aside.

The bumpy ride scattered the stalls left in the alley, causing countless impacts on the car windows.

Cecilia didn't dare relax for a moment.

Just when she thought she was on the brink of death, a glimmer of hope appeared, yet the peril persisted, preventing her from feeling any sense of relief.

She clung tightly to the back seat, watching the chaos they caused in the night market alley.

Cecilia glanced at the car closing in behind them.

She wondered if she was going to die because of Dominic again!

She gritted her teeth, trying to stay calm.

She told herself that God had given her a second chance at life, and He wouldn't be so cruel as to let her die without accomplishing anything.

No one could have luck that terrible!

She was determined to survive.

She had to live to take down Dominic!

The car finally exited the alley.

Augustus randomly chose a direction and sped away.

The phone, still connected, suddenly rang with Alaric's voice, "Augustus, there's a black truck parked directly ahead of you. You need to estimate the truck's speed to ensure you pass successfully while blocking the car chasing you."

"Got it," Augustus replied quickly.

Cecilia couldn't help but feel a bit excited.

She had been worried that Augustus's erratic driving to avoid danger would make it hard for Alaric to locate them, but he managed to do it in less than five minutes and had everything arranged.

In the distance, Cecilia saw a black truck parked at the edge of an intersection.

The truck was long enough to block the entire intersection.

At that moment, the truck was also moving towards the intersection.

With the car behind them so close, they couldn't wait for the truck to move out of the way; otherwise, the car behind would avoid it too.

In other words, if Augustus didn't pass the truck in time, they would die. If he went too early and the car behind followed, they would still be in danger.

Timing was crucial.

Cecilia watched Augustus, noticing his grip on the steering wheel tighten.

Sweat dripped from his forehead.

Cecilia knew this was the key moment for their survival. She was so nervous that her palms were sweating.

Augustus seemed to slow down a bit.

Cecilia's heart clenched as she noticed the car behind them closing in due to Augustus's slowing down.

The car behind them rammed into them.

Cecilia stifled a scream. She knew Augustus needed to focus on driving and didn't want to distract him.

The car behind them kept ramming into them.

Augustus's intention to slow down was clearly to control the speed of the car behind them, forcing it to slow down as well.

Cecilia clung tightly to the back seat, trying to stabilize herself.

Even though the seatbelt was digging into her painfully, she didn't make a sound.

"Mrs. Whitaker, brace yourself!" Augustus suddenly said.

Cecilia took a deep breath, preparing herself.

Augustus suddenly accelerated, flooring the gas pedal and speeding forward.

Cecilia watched as the truck loomed closer, seemingly about to collide with them.

She shut her eyes tightly.

She couldn't bear to witness the impending crash.

The next moment, the sound of vehicles crashing filled the street.

Anyone who heard it would be terrified.

Even Cecilia was stunned for a moment.

She turned to see the cars behind them crashing into the truck uncontrollably.

The truck's front was smashed, flipping over; and its body was shattered by the impact.

Similarly, the cars that crashed into it were completely destroyed.

Cecilia's heart was still racing.

If they had been a second slower, they would have been the ones to die.

Cecilia slowly calmed herself.

Augustus seemed to be calming down too.

It turned out Augustus wasn't as composed as he appeared; now, after narrowly escaping death, Cecilia saw the unmistakable trace of panic on his face.

He took a deep breath.

The car's speed gradually decreased, and he spoke into the phone, "Mr. Whitaker, I've passed the truck, and the cars behind us have been blocked. I'm taking Mrs. Whitaker back now..."

"Augustus!" Cecilia suddenly shouted.

Augustus tensed up.

He saw a car appear out of nowhere, heading straight for them.

Just when they had let their guard down, it appeared suddenly.

There was no time to react.

Augustus couldn't even step on the gas to avoid the collision.

The car was speeding straight towards them.

"Brace your heads!" Augustus shouted.

He knew they couldn't avoid it!

So they had to brace themselves to survive the impact!

Augustus tightly covered his head.

Cecilia did the same.

Then, there was another loud crash.

The sound was right next to Cecilia's ear.

It was terrifying!

After a long time, the sound finally stopped.

Cecilia didn't even know if she was in pain.

It felt like she had lived through another century.

She looked up at the car that had crashed into them, which had stopped very close, wrecked by another car.

The car that hit them had its front completely deformed.
