Chapter 555 The Plan

The next day, Cecilia got word that Alaric's court date was set for next Monday.

At the same time, the news confirmed the timing for Alaric's second court appearance.

It was also clear that Gideon would be the prosecutor for this case, fully involved.

The news caused quite a stir.

Who would've thought a case with Alaric would drag two major noble families into the spotlight?

Cecilia watched the news for a while before calling Cassius, "Did you see the news?"

"Yeah, I saw it," Cassius replied.

Cecilia said, "Next Monday is the official trial."

Cassius responded, "Don't worry. I've already talked to Preston. Alaric will be acquitted."

Cecilia said, "The key is to make sure Dominic gets punished."

"Dominic has imprisoned Lyra. Once that's out, he's in big trouble," Cassius said.

"I suspect Dominic will kill Lyra to keep it a secret," Cecilia said.

Cassius was silent for a moment, then agreed. "He would definitely do that."

"Are you having someone keep an eye on Dominic?" Cecilia asked.

Cassius replied, "Yeah, but we can't get too close. Dominic is very cautious, so we don't know Lyra's current condition."

Cecilia said, "So we can't be entirely sure that Lyra is being held by Dominic."

"Exactly." Cassius nodded.

Cecilia said, "So we have to take a gamble."

"What are you planning?" Cassius asked seriously.

Cecilia said, "I bet Dominic will take the opportunity to kill Lyra! To put it bluntly, he wants to cover up his crimes. But he definitely won't do it before Alaric's court date. If Tomas finds out Lyra is already dead, he will definitely kill Dominic. The best time for Dominic is on the day of Alaric's trial."

She paused for a moment after saying this. Cassius then said, "Go on."

Cecilia continued, "On that day, everyone's attention will be on Alaric's case. Dominic, being implicated, will be one of the suspects and will be questioned in court, thus losing his alibi for the murder. Secondly, if Lyra dies on that day, Dominic can explain why he didn't protect her, since he was in court. Tomas can't blame Dominic, and Dominic can pretend to be very distressed, gaining Tomas's sympathy and ultimately his trust."

Cassius listened and realized Cecilia was much more formidable than he had thought, with an extraordinary ability to deduce.

Cecilia pressed her lips together.

It wasn't that she was so amazing.

It was just that she knew Dominic so well that she could analyze all his thoughts and actions with a little effort.

She said, "So on the day of Alaric's trial, we need someone to protect Lyra the whole time."

Cassius said, "I'll arrange it."

"I want to entrust this to Dashiell," Cecilia said.

Cassius thought for a moment and replied, "That works."

"I suspect Dominic will have Penelope handle this," Cecilia said confidently.

To Dominic, the person he trusted the most was naturally his family. And Penelope was very good to Dominic. Although they were both malicious, they had a good relationship. In her past life, many cruel things were done by Penelope.

"You want Dashiell to lure Penelope?" Cassius asked.

"Yes," Cecilia nodded.

"You are impressive!" Cassius responded.

Cecilia chuckled lightly.

If it weren't for the urgency of the situation, she wouldn't have asked Dashiell to sacrifice his feelings.

She said, "That's it for the arrangements. I'll call Dashiell."

Cassius said, "Okay, I'll handle my side of things."

Cecilia replied, "Alright."

"Cecilia," Cassius suddenly called her.

"What?" Cecilia asked.

"Alaric won't let you down for what you're doing for him," Cassius said seriously.

Cassius wasn't the type to say such sweet things, so Cecilia was actually a bit surprised.

"Got it," she responded.

Cassius then hung up the phone, and Cecilia quietly put hers down as well.

Of course, Cecilia could feel Alaric's kindness towards her, which was completely different from Dominic's behavior back then.

Yet, Cecilia didn't think too much and directly called Dashiell, "Dashiell."

Dashiell answered, "Yes."

Cecilia said, "I need to ask you a favor."

"Go ahead," Dashiell agreed readily.

Cecilia explained the plan she had just discussed with Cassius to Dashiell.

Dashiell was silent for a while.

"Is it inconvenient?" Cecilia asked, feeling a bit apologetic.

After all, she knew very well how much Dashiell didn't want to get involved with Penelope, even though Penelope had genuine feelings for him.

She didn't even dare to tell Dashiell that in her previous life, Penelope hadn't married anyone by the time Cecilia died, because she was wholeheartedly waiting for Dashiell.

There was a moment of silence.

Dashiell laughed. "It's not inconvenient. You don't need to feel guilty. After all, Alaric's matter is my matter. I just..."

He was too kind and just didn't want to hurt others.

Back then, he didn't hold Penelope accountable for the miscarriage of Seraphina's child, even though she might have been involved.

Now, he even felt pity for Penelope.

He said, "It's nothing. I know what to do."

Cecilia said, "Thank you."

"You're welcome," Dashiell said. "I'll let you know if there's any good news."

Cecilia replied, "Thanks."

After hanging up, Dashiell's face darkened.

Because he knew how hurtful manipulating emotions could be, he never wanted to treat anyone that way.

He pressed his thin lips together before picking up his phone and making a call.

Penelope answered after just one ring, "Dashiell."

Her voice was filled with excitement because she probably didn't expect him to call her.

"Are you free tonight?" Dashiell asked.

"Are you asking me out?" Penelope was clearly in disbelief but couldn't hide her joy.

Dashiell said, "Yes, I have something I want to discuss with you alone."

"I'm free," Penelope agreed immediately.

Dashiell asked, "What time do you get off work?"

Penelope responded, "I can leave anytime."

Dashiell said, "Let's meet at FlavorFusion Bistro at 6 PM."

"Okay," Penelope agreed quickly.

She didn't ask for any reason. As long as Dashiell was willing to see her, she would go.

"See you tonight." After hanging up, Dashiell sighed softly.

He put down his phone, and his nimble fingers danced across the keyboard.

At 5:30 PM, Dashiell left work on time.

As he walked to the garage, he saw Sebastian's car drive past him.

It was rare for Sebastian to leave work so early.

Sebastian was a bit surprised to see Dashiell, and Seraphina, in the passenger seat, was curious as well. "Is he leaving work this early too?" she asked.

"Maybe he has something to do," Sebastian replied casually.

Seraphina didn't continue the topic.

Regarding Dashiell, her current attitude was to avoid him.

After all, she knew very well how much Dashiell disliked her.

She wouldn't be foolish enough to seek trouble for herself.
