Chapter 155 Cecilia is Bossed Around by Alaric
Their deal was done.
"Put your clothes on," Cecilia said, unable to face a naked person.
"I fractured my foot."
Cecilia was about to respond.
"And my arm," Alaric added bluntly.
'So, how did you undress?' Cecilia thought, gritting her teeth. She picked up his clothes to help him dress.
"I want clean ones," Alaric demanded.
"You only wore them for a few hours," Cecilia snapped, getting annoyed.
"But I still wore them," he insisted.
Cecilia took a deep breath, trying to stay calm. She left the bathroom, fetched a fresh set of loungewear from his room, and returned to help him.
"The doctor said I can't bathe, but I can wipe down with clean water," Alaric said.
Cecilia just glared at him.
"You do it for me," he said, as if it were obvious.
Cecilia wanted to strangle him but controlled herself. She went to get a hot towel.
As she approached him, Alaric said, "Help me back to bed. I'm tired of standing on one foot."
Cecilia's patience finally snapped. With a sigh of exasperation, she tossed the towel aside and helped the naked Alaric back to bed.
Once he was lying down, he said loudly, "Alright, you can start wiping."
Fuming, Cecilia stormed into the bathroom, rewrung the hot towels, and returned.
This time, Alaric stayed quiet, even looking like he was enjoying it. Cecilia wiped his upper body, biting her lip.
She couldn't avoid looking now. Frustrated, she threw the towel at him. "Wipe yourself."
Alaric glanced down. Cecilia turned away, blushing. She couldn't believe how shameless he was.
After wiping, Alaric said, "All done."
"Put your underwear on," Cecilia said, still not turning around.
"Aren't you going to admire it?" Alaric teased.
"Do you think it look good?" Cecilia retorted, holding back her anger. She felt like Alaric always had her on a string.
"Yes," he replied shamelessly.
Cecilia felt even more embarrassed. There couldn't be anyone more shameless than Alaric.
In the quiet room, Cecilia waited for him to dress. She grew impatient.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. She turned to see Alaric fully dressed in underwear, trousers, and a jacket.
'Didn't he say he he has a broken arm and leg?' He was clearly teasing her!
Suppressing her temper, Cecilia walked to the door. Cassius stood there.
"Why are you here?" she asked, surprised.
"I'm here to see Alaric," Cassius said, walking in.
Cecilia pursed her lips, not wanting to deal with them, and left the room.
"Close the door," Alaric ordered. Cassius complied.
"How is it?" Alaric asked directly.
Cassius replied, "I checked, but there's no sign of Dominic. Last night, we blocked the car that hit Cecilia. Two escaped, two crashed into a truck—one died on the spot, the other in the hospital. Another one died in the crash with you. No evidence left. But we found out they were mercenaries from Mosterwania. They won't betray their employer, so that lead's a dead end."
Alaric's expression grew serious.
"Dominic shouldn't have access to mercenaries. So, our guess was right. He's connected to those noble families," Cassius said bluntly.
"Keep investigating," Alaric ordered coldly.
"Got it." Cassius nodded.
"By the way," Alaric added. "Make sure Dominic knows we're onto him."
"Why?" Cassius frowned, puzzled. 'Wouldn't it be better to catch him off guard?'
"To make him cautious," Alaric replied.
Cassius argued, "If he acts rashly, it'll be easier to find his weaknesses. Even if we can't link him to the noble families, we can get him arrested for his crimes and be done with him."
"If Dominic goes to jail, how do we find out which noble family is behind this?" Alaric countered. "We need him to lead us to the real culprits."
Cassius looked at Alaric in disbelief.
Ignoring Cassius's stare, Alaric continued, "I've been feeling unwell. I need you to handle things in Astralton City for me."
Cassius didn't respond. He'd do it without being told. What puzzled him was, "Are you trying to protect Cecilia by letting Dominic know we're investigating him?"
Alaric didn't deny it.
Cassius asked, "Alaric, is Cecilia worth it?"
Alaric stayed silent.
Cassius pressed, "What if she's a plant?"
"She's not," Alaric said firmly.
Cassius was at a loss for words. Alaric's dislikes were deep and unwavering. But when he liked someone, he'd risk everything for them, without a second thought.
Cassius sighed, "It's your own business. I won't interfere."
After all, Alaric's word had always been final since they were kids.
Alaric just nodded.
"I'm leaving," Cassius said, knowing he had more to do with Alaric bedridden.
"Okay," Alaric responded.
Cassius left the villa.
After a while, the door opened again. Alaric expected Cecilia but saw George with a tray of nutritious soup and vegetables.
George noticed the disappointment in Alaric's eyes.
He smiled, "Mrs. Whitaker went to work."
Alaric's eyes flickered. Cecilia was really heartless. He almost died for her yesterday, and today she went to work like nothing happened?
"Mrs. Whitaker got a call from her company. She seems quite busy," George said, trying to defend Cecilia.
Alaric didn't want to hear it. His face darkened.
