Chapter 814 Scheming (1) Lyra Falls for It
Cecilia returned to The Whitaker Villa after her prenatal check-up.
George hurried over to her. "Ms. Lockhart, how did it go? What did the doctor say about the baby?"
"Everything's fine," Cecilia smiled. "The baby has gained quite a bit of weight."
"Ms. Lockhart, you haven't gained any weight at all."
"It's the baby," Cecilia explained.
The doctor had said that all her nutrition was going to the baby, and the baby's development was on a good track. She was advised to keep up her current regimen.
Sometimes, Cecilia was truly amazed by the miracle of life.
She wondered if the baby could sense that she had been somewhat reluctant to have him, and that's why he was fighting so hard to survive from the very beginning.
He really was a strong child.
Cecilia walked over to the sofa in the living room.
Just as she sat down, the phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID and answered, "Rose."
"Ms. Lockhart, I got it," Rose said, her voice trembling with excitement.
She was clearly overjoyed.
Cecilia remained calm. "Come over to The Whitaker Villa, and we'll talk in person."
"I'll be right there," Rose quickly hung up.
Cecilia waited for Rose in the living room for a while. Rose arrived in a hurry.
Seeing so many bodyguards in the house, she was taken aback.
"So many people protecting you?" Rose couldn't help but ask.
Yes.
Living under constant surveillance by so many people.
But she was used to it.
Cecilia didn't offer much explanation and got straight to the point. "Show me the video."
"Okay," Rose quickly took out her phone and opened the encrypted video file.
On the phone screen, Lyra was seen in a fit of rage, almost to the point of distortion. She threw everything off her desk, including the computer.
The computer was even deliberately thrown at an employee.
The employee screamed.
Lyra yelled at her, "What are you screaming for? Serves you right!"
The employee didn't dare to speak.
"You dare to gossip about me behind my back, insult me, call me vicious? Incompetent? Curse me for not being loved by any man?"
The employee stood there, trembling, watching her with a horrified expression.
Cecilia could roughly imagine what had happened.
In fact, it was Cecilia who had taught Rose to do this.
Lyra, now at the Lockhart Group, was doing everything to prove her existence and deliberately retaliate against Cecilia, taking out her anger on the people Cecilia had once valued, making their lives miserable.
Previously, everyone had to endure her torment to keep their jobs. Now, Cecilia had Rose deliberately provoke Lyra and capture her outburst on video for exposure.
She calmly continued watching.
Lyra seemed to have lost her mind. The comment about "not being loved by any man" must have hit a sore spot.
Her words became increasingly unrestrained. "If you don't want to work here, you can all get out! Pack your things and leave immediately! We don't need you here!"
The employee, reduced to tears, kept sobbing.
"Even without you, the Lockhart Group can still operate! I, a daughter of the Monroe family, working with you lowlifes lowers my status! If it weren't for Dashiell begging me to be the general manager of the Lockhart Group, out of our friendship, I wouldn't even care about a mere Lockhart Group, let alone work with you incompetent, ignorant, good-for-nothing people. How did you even get into the Lockhart Group and become key members? Was Cecilia blind to choose you?"
Cecilia watched coldly as Lyra spewed her venom.
Words spoken carelessly can bring disaster.
She seemed to have forgotten that this was an era of advanced communication.
Even ten years ago, the technology and information in the Yakurosean Empire were already at a very advanced level.
Lyra still couldn't vent her inner anger. She pointed at the employee and cursed, "I don't want to see you here tomorrow. Go to finance, get your paycheck, and get out!"
"I have a long-term contract with the Lockhart Group. I haven't done anything wrong. The Lockhart Group can't fire me!" the employee mustered the courage to speak.
"Long-term contract? Long-term contract just means paying compensation, right?" Lyra didn't care at all. "The Monroe family has plenty of money. Half of the Yakurosean Empire's power belongs to us. Do you think I can't afford it? A tiny fraction of my assets could support you for a lifetime!"
"It's not just about money. The law also protects us," the employee said, showing no fear.
"The law?" Lyra laughed even more mockingly. "The law serves the Monroe family. If I say you can be fired, you can be fired!"
The employee was left speechless.
Seeing the employee rendered silent, Lyra felt much better. She said viciously, "This world is unfair. It's been unfair since birth. I was born into a life of privilege, and you lowlifes can never catch up!"
The employee finally couldn't take Lyra's insults anymore and ran out.
The video ended at that moment.
Cecilia finished watching.
Rose, on the other hand, was still fuming. "I've watched this several times, and it still makes me furious! How can Lyra insult people like that? What gives her such a strong sense of superiority? We're all human beings. What makes her think she's better than everyone else?"
Even without seeing the video, Cecilia hadn't expected Lyra to be so disgusting, to the point of being this vile.
She had thought that, no matter what, Lyra had received a higher education and would somewhat control her emotions. But her words could be so vulgar.
"What do we do now?" Rose asked.
Cecilia said, "Just follow my lead."
"Okay," Rose didn't ask further.
She trusted Cecilia completely.
She felt that just exposing this video would be enough to ruin Lyra's reputation.
Of course, things wouldn't be that simple.
Lyra's arrogance wasn't without reason. She knew very well that most media outlets wouldn't dare to expose her news. The Monroe family's current status in the Yakurosean Empire made them untouchable.
So, doing something rash would only get the plan nipped in the bud and even make Lyra more cautious.
Once alerted, it would be even harder to bring Lyra down later.
Rose left the villa.
Cecilia thought for a moment and decided to call Dashiell.
Dashiell was in a meeting at the time. Seeing Cecilia's call, he left the room with his phone.
Seraphina glanced at him.
She wondered who could make the workaholic Dashiell abandon his work.
It certainly wasn't her.
Outside the conference room, Dashiell answered, "Cecilia."
"You once said that I could come to you directly, bypassing Alaric, right?" Cecilia asked.
"Of course," Dashiell agreed without hesitation.
He was even afraid that his relationship with Alaric would cause Cecilia to have reservations about him.
