Chapter 680 Cruelty (2) Confession
In the car, Cassius remained silent.
He was afraid of being scolded by Alaric.
But Cassius wasn't someone who could keep things to himself. Seeing Alaric staring coldly out the window, he couldn't help but probe.
Despite his internal struggle, his curiosity got the better of him, and he asked, "Did you have a fight with Cecilia?"
Alaric seemed to flinch slightly at Cassius's voice, or maybe it was just an illusion.
"Did she get upset because you announced her pregnancy without her consent and forbade her from socializing? So she kicked you out?" Cassius asked.
He always felt that Alaric wasn't assertive enough when it came to Cecilia.
Looked at him, he did what he wanted when he wanted!
He could still savor the memory.
He really hadn't had sex in a long time.
Finally having sex once, he kept reminiscing about it.
"No." Alaric replied, his voice unusually faint.
Cassius frowned, "Then what happened? Why did you leave so suddenly?"
The main thing was, he still wanted to continue having sex with Lily.
"Gideon came to see me last night," Alaric didn't intend to hide it from Cassius.
"How did he threaten you?" Cassius tensed up immediately.
"He doesn't trust me."
Cassius let out a cold laugh.
They had anticipated that Gideon would eventually become suspicious of them.
They just didn't expect Gideon to react so quickly.
"So are we going to confront Gideon now?"
"We were supposed to." Alaric's eyes tightened, "But now he's taken Cecilia."
"What?" Cassius almost jumped out of the car.
Alaric's face looked noticeably worse, probably because he was thinking about Cecilia again.
Just thinking about Cecilia being with Gideon, in that unfamiliar environment, with no sense of security and her life constantly threatened, he couldn't help but clench his fists.
"You just let Gideon take Cecilia away?" Cassius couldn't believe it.
Alaric nodded.
Cassius was momentarily speechless.
It wasn't that he didn't understand Alaric.
Whatever Alaric had to do, it was something he had to do.
Cassius wasn't as smart as Alaric; he usually did more of the executing and sometimes didn't bother to think too deeply, knowing Alaric would handle it.
He just felt bad for Alaric.
Alaric had to watch the woman he loved most be sent to the most dangerous place.
How painful must that be!
"If I didn't let him take Cecilia, I would be in danger. And if I got into trouble, Cecilia would be implicated as well." Alaric explained.
Cassius nodded.
Cecilia was now so closely tied to Alaric.
More importantly, Cecilia knew about Alaric and Gideon's dealings. If Alaric died, Cecilia would be killed too.
"Does Cecilia hate you?" Cassius inquired.
"What do you think?" Alaric gave a self-deprecating smile.
So he wasn't as strong as he thought, strong enough to protect her.
"She must have been crying her eyes out when she left," Cassius imagined the scene and felt heartbroken.
He also remembered that Cecilia was pregnant.
No wonder Alaric suddenly announced Cecilia's pregnancy; it was just to hide her whereabouts.
"No, she was very calm." Alaric said straightforwardly.
"Calm?" Cassius didn't believe it.
"She knew she had no choice, so she chose to accept it," Alaric's throat moved.
Even now, talking about it, he still felt a great emotional upheaval.
Cassius could see it clearly.
He thought if he kept asking, Alaric might break down and cry in front of him.
The thought alone scared him.
He quickly changed the subject but couldn't help but admire Cecilia's extraordinary resilience. He said, "So what do we do now? Just let Gideon control Cecilia and do whatever he wants?"
"No, now is the time to start a war." Alaric decided resolutely.
"What do you mean?" Cassius felt a surge of excitement.
In fact, he had been waiting for this day for a long time.
He hoped the sooner it started, the sooner it would end.
The thought of ultimate victory made him very excited.
"I'm going back to Astralton City to confess to the Monroe family about my dealings with Gideon."
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" Cassius's face turned pale with fear.
"No, it will only make the Monroe family attack the Hotchner family faster, and the Hotchner family won't sit idly by."
"What exactly are you planning?" Cassius couldn't understand.
It seemed like Alaric was courting death!
"Cassius," Alaric turned to look at him, suddenly very serious.
Cassius felt uneasy under Alaric's gaze.
He thought he'd feel better if Alaric just punched him.
"From now on, it's going to be really brutal,." Alaric said word by word.
Cassius thought it was no big deal and laughed, "We've been waiting for this day for so many years. It'd be worth it even if we die!"
Alaric pressed his lips together.
Sometimes he was really moved by the loyalty of those who followed the Royal Family of Whitaker.
So, he couldn't betray their loyalty.
"Besides," Cassius said casually, "I've enjoyed sex with so many women, lived a life of luxury, and even have a son. I have no regrets if I die."
"No one will die." Alaric said firmly.
He wouldn't allow anyone to die.
That night, Alaric and Cassius returned to their house in Astralton City.
The house was a gift from the Monroe family. In Astralton City, where real estate was expensive, though not large, was worth a fortune.
Alaric and Cassius rested on the sofa for a while. Alaric called Tomas, "Mr. Monroe."
"I heard you're back," Tomas said flatly.
Alaric's eyes narrowed slightly.
So every move he made in Astralton City was under Tomas's surveillance.
"Yes," he replied.
"Didn't I give you three days off? You're back after just one day? Why not spend more time with Cecilia? You must miss each other a lot!" Tomas joked, masking the emotion in his words.
Alaric appeared very respectful, "Mr. Monroe, I have something I need to report to you in person."
Tomas paused for two seconds.
Probably thinking about what Alaric said.
After all, so late at night, with Alaric's serious tone, it couldn't be a small matter.
But when he spoke again, he remained calm, "Do we need to meet face-to-face?"
"Yes," Alaric confirmed.
"I'll send someone to pick you up," Tomas agreed immediately, "but it's late now, don't take up too much of my rest time. I'm old and can't stay up late."
"Yes." After hanging up the phone, Alaric took a deep breath.
He turned to Cassius and said, "You stay here, I'll go see Tomas alone."
"What if he kills you in a fit of rage?"
"Help me rescue Cecilia," Alaric said.
Cassius was devastated. He didn't want Alaric to say his last words!
