Chapter 684 Cruelty (6) Meeting

Alaric looked at his phone and replied, "Thank you, Mr. Hotchner."

Then he called Cassius, asking him to help avoid surveillance.

It only took Alaric 20 minutes to smoothly reach The Hotchner Mansion.

Gideon was waiting for him in the living room. When he saw Alaric, his face clearly showed displeasure.

Alaric knew very well that people of their status could not tolerate being threatened.

He said coldly, "Alaric, first tell me how you plan to deal with the Monroe family."

"I want to see Cecilia first."

"Alaric!"

"Mr. Hotchner, please understand me." Alaric insisted.

Gideon's face turned extremely ugly.

He glared at Alaric, and finally, with a wave of his hand, the servant understood and went inside to bring Cecilia out.

Augustus had been by Cecilia's side.

When he saw Alaric, Augustus showed some emotional fluctuation.

On the contrary, Cecilia remained calm.

Cecilia and Alaric hadn't been apart for many days.

But it felt like a long time.

Alaric was about to step forward.

"Stay at this distance," Gideon said bluntly.

Alaric's steps paused.

At that moment, Cecilia just looked at Alaric indifferently.

"I agreed to let you see her, but I didn't agree to let you touch her or see her alone," Gideon said bluntly.

Alaric's face turned a bit ugly.

He had expected this, but it still felt oppressive.

He held back and said, "Cecilia, are you getting used to it?"

Cecilia sneered.

She said, "Alaric, how do you think I should answer you?"

Alaric felt a bit guilty.

"Should I tell you that I'm living comfortably in a strange and dangerous environment? Would you believe that?"

Alaric pressed his lips together, clearly at a loss for words.

He said, "I'm sorry."

"It doesn't matter," Cecilia said calmly.

Even if she wasn't calm, it wouldn't change anything.

She said, "I can't hate you now, can I?"

Alaric looked at her.

"Not only can I not hate you, but I also have to look forward to you. After all, my life and death are in your hands," Cecilia said with a cold smile in her eyes. "I don't even dare to offend you. If I offend you, will I die?"

"Cecilia, stop talking," Alaric said painfully.

Cecilia's words were like a thorn in his heart.

He felt a deep pain.

"You want me to stop talking, so I will. I'll do whatever you want. I just don't want to die."

That was her biggest plea.

She didn't want to die.

"I won't let you die!" Alaric said firmly, "You won't die!"

Cecilia chuckled lightly.

Who would really believe that at this point, she wouldn't die?

Or rather, she believed that Alaric didn't want her to die, but she didn't believe that Alaric had the power to keep her alive.

But she said nothing more.

The more she said, the more real the act became.

She knew very well that Alaric came to see her today partly because he genuinely wanted to see her. His immense guilt must have made him feel very oppressed these past few days. Seeing her alive would give him some peace of mind. On the other hand, he was using his deep affection for her to make Gideon believe in his loyalty, that he wouldn't dare betray Gideon, to gain more of Gideon's trust.

And lastly, Alaric's visit might be a signal that he was about to take action.

Whether against the Monroe family or the Hotchner family, he was going to take action.

Alaric wanted her to be prepared.

Cecilia could think of many things, but she couldn't resist any of them.

She could only endure silently.

As for what would happen in the end?

No one knew!

She waited in silence.

Alaric was also silent.

They seemed to have nothing more to say.

In front of Gideon, they appeared to be full of contradictions.

In fact, they didn't need to act; their situation made mutual resentment reasonable.

Gideon looked at Alaric and Cecilia and said, "Are you done talking?"

Meaning, can the meeting end now?

Alaric glanced at Gideon but said nothing.

Instead, Cecilia calmly said, "Yes. So can I go back to my room now?"

"Are you sure you don't want to spend more time with Alaric? This might be your last meeting," Gideon said deliberately.

Alaric's face changed visibly.

He glared at Gideon.

"Don't worry, I'm not talking to Cecilia, I'm talking to you! In war, sacrifices are inevitable, aren't they?" Gideon said nonchalantly.

"Please, Mr. Hotchner, keep your promise."

"Of course," Gideon said calmly. He glanced at Cecilia, "Go back to your room and rest well. You're pregnant, and your health is most important. If something happens to you, I won't be able to prove my innocence."

Cecilia glanced at Gideon, then turned to look at Alaric.

There wasn't much emotion; she turned and left directly.

Alaric watched Cecilia's back, watching for a long time.

"Stop looking," Gideon reminded, "If you do your job well, Cecilia will be back by your side soon."

Alaric withdrew his gaze.

He suppressed his inner emotions.

Cecilia was stronger than he thought.

She knew very well why he came to see her today.

She was even playing along with him.

But he also knew Cecilia's disappointment in him.

He swallowed and quickly calmed his emotions.

He said, "I've already figured out how to deal with the Monroe family and have started making them act according to my plan."

"Let's hear it," Gideon said, his face also serious.

"I told the Monroe family about our previous deal."

Gideon's face changed instantly.

"I admit, I did it to provoke a war between you two. I want to bring Cecilia back to my side as soon as possible!"

"Alaric, can't you discuss anything with me first? Or do you want me to kill you right now?" Gideon said bloodthirstily, looking very ferocious.

"Mr. Hotchner, what I did was selfish, but it also benefits you. I wouldn't gamble with Cecilia's life. Since I took this step, I can ensure your success!"

"You better not make me kill you right now," Gideon said angrily.

"The two major noble families have coexisted for so many years, seemingly in peace but actually in opposition. The stalemate has lasted so long because neither side has been confident enough. But if you had the confidence to kill the other, why not act decisively? Mr. Hotchner, you don't want to drag this out for another ten, twenty, or even a hundred years, do you?"

Gideon looked at Alaric coldly, giving no response.

"So I made the Monroe family take the initiative to start this war," Alaric said clearly, word by word.
