Chapter 608 Genuine Feelings (3)
Was it really that over the top? Did Alaric love Cecilia that much? He'd been head over heels for her for years, and she had no clue. How much patience did it take to keep that secret so perfectly?
Cecilia bit her lip, thinking back to all those years Alaric watched her pine for Dominic. She realized she really did like Dominic back then. What must Alaric have felt?
How much willpower did it take for him to watch so coldly and stay so indifferent?
Cecilia suddenly remembered the moment from her past life when she was about to get married, and Alaric called, saying he wanted to take her away.
How much courage did it take for Alaric to make that call? And she just brushed it off as a prank.
Now, she really wanted to know why Alaric didn't show up back then.
In her memory, he didn't even come to the wedding.
Was he heartbroken because she didn't respond?
The more she thought about it, the more it hurt.
How did Alaric watch her marry Dominic in her past life?
How did Alaric feel when she died in her past life?
Thinking of this, Cecilia suddenly hugged Alaric, catching him off guard.
Alaric thought Cecilia's emotions were a bit sudden.
He figured after what happened last night, she'd have a wall up against him.
He even thought keeping Cecilia would leave a scar on her heart.
But he never thought of letting her go.
That's just how people are—once they have something, they never want to let it go.
Thinking of this, Alaric hugged Cecilia tightly in return.
In the warm room, it felt like their deep, intense, and eternal feelings wrapped around them.
"Alaric," Cecilia said firmly. "I will never leave you again."
She thought, 'I won't let you go through that sadness again.'
"I never thought you'd leave me," Alaric said. "From the moment you came to me, I made up my mind."
Did he really decide to love Cecilia forever?
Alaric continued, "I decided that unless you die, I will never let you leave my side. Even if you regret it, I won't let you go!"
Cecilia thought, 'Why is Alaric so devious?' She then asked, "What if you die first?"
Alaric replied, "If I die, I'll take you with me."
Cecilia thought to herself, 'Can you not be so domineering?'
But why didn't she mind at all?
She knew a man as ruthless as Alaric could really do it.
After all, he didn't mind killing one more person!
But at that moment, Cecilia wasn't scared; she felt happy.
Had she lost her mind for love?
"In this life, don't even think about leaving me," Alaric concluded.
So from the moment Cecilia chose to team up with Alaric, she was already under his control.
Only Cecilia still believed they were mainly driven by mutual interests.
Alright, Cecilia accepted it all—Alaric's identity, his brutality, his feelings, his helplessness—she accepted everything.
At that moment, she buried herself tightly in Alaric's chest, wanting to feel his presence and experience the intense love Alaric had for her.
Interactions between adults always sparked different kinds of passions.Suddenly, Alaric let go of Cecilia, looked into her eyes, lifted her chin, and leaned in to kiss her soft lips.
Cecilia closed her eyes, slightly parting her lips, and kissed him back.
But then, a cough echoed through the room.
Alaric and Cecilia, lost in their kiss, quickly pulled apart.
Caught by Francis, Cecilia felt super awkward.
She had been totally into Alaric's kiss and was really into it.
Alaric's gaze shifted to Francis.
"Hugo's looking for you," Francis said calmly. "Didn't want to interrupt." He claimed he didn't want to, but it was clear he didn't feel bad about it at all.
"Is he here?" Alaric asked.
"Yeah," Francis nodded. "He's waiting in the living room."
"I'll be there in a minute," Alaric said.
"Okay." As Francis left, he added, "No rush. Hugo's not going anywhere, but if you hurry, it might not end well."
Cecilia's face heated up even more, clearly aware of Francis's teasing.
Alaric turned back to Cecilia, captivated by her shy expressions. He leaned in to kiss her again.
But Cecilia pushed him away. "Stop it, isn't Hugo waiting for you?"
"Let him wait a bit longer. After all..." Alaric chuckled, "Cassius, Dashiell, and I almost got killed by him! For a while, our biggest wish was to take Hugo down!"
"Since we can't kill him, just annoying him will do," Alaric said nonchalantly.
Then he leaned in closer to Cecilia.
"Don't..." Cecilia pushed him away.
Alaric wasn't embarrassed, but she was!
Just thinking about Hugo waiting made it impossible for Cecilia to relax.
She took a deep breath and said, "If you don't want to see Hugo now, then tell me about your relationship with Francis."
She just wanted to distract Alaric.
Alaric could get romantic anytime, anywhere; she knew that.
"So you want to know about my family?" Alaric said with a smile. But Cecilia was just asking casually.
"Francis Whitaker!" Alaric said, "That's his name."
Cecilia looked at Alaric, hesitating.
Alaric asked, "Are you wondering why, as the first child of my parents, I'm not the heir, but Francis is?"
Cecilia nodded.
Alaric continued, "It's not hard to understand. Train the assassin first, then the heir. This is the best way to protect the heir. If the assassin isn't successfully trained, the heir's at risk. So from the moment I was born before Francis, I was destined to be his assassin. It's that simple."
Cecilia felt a bit heartbroken and asked, "Did you ever resent it?"
Clearly, Alaric's experiences were tougher, while Francis seemed to have had it easier.
Alaric replied, "Of course I resented it, but later I found out Francis didn't have it easy either, so I felt balanced."
"What do you mean?" Cecilia didn't get it.
"Do you think being an heir is easy? Physical torture isn't scary; mental torture is deadly!" Alaric said, "So Francis endured more than I did!"
