Chapter 89 Tricked by Design
In the hall of the Lockhart family villa.
Ophelia's face changed immediately due to Cecilia's sarcasm. She was so furious that she couldn't say a word for a long time.
Not only her, but Vincent's family also looked extremely displeased.
Fortunately, Isadora didn't come. If she had, she would have been infuriated.
She probably didn't dare to go out now. After doing such a disgraceful thing in front of so many people, Vincent must have confined her at home.
For a moment, the atmosphere was a bit tense.
It was Theodore who acted as the mediator. He quickly said, "It's all in the past, let's not bring it up. As for Cecilia and Alaric coming back a day late, it was because something happened in Alaric's family. I told them not to rush back. Although they didn't return immediately, they had the servants quietly bring back many gifts, which made me feel a bit embarrassed. The Whitaker family is really too generous."
At this moment, they saw the servants bringing in the things Alaric and Cecilia had brought back from the Whitaker family. There were so many items that Ophelia and Vincent were genuinely surprised, but they tacitly pretended not to see them.
Ophelia deliberately changed the subject, saying, "I didn't come here today to argue with you. I have something important to discuss with you."
"Please go ahead." Theodore still respected Ophelia, after all, she was his mother. Ophelia took advantage of Theodore's filial piety to act arrogantly.
Cecilia used to be like Theodore, always accommodating this domineering grandmother, but she wouldn't be so kind in the future.
She watched Ophelia quietly, wondering what mischief she was up to this time.
Ophelia didn't beat around the bush and appeared somewhat domineering. She said, "I brought Juliana here today, not for any other purpose, just to inform you that Juliana will start working at the Lockhart Group tomorrow. She will take over Isadora's position. Isadora is not in a good emotional state lately, so she will stay at home for now."
Ophelia said it was a discussion, but she didn't actually leave any room for negotiation.
Cecilia felt a bit sarcastic inside. Ophelia had it all planned out. She knew Isadora's reputation was ruined, so she wanted to elevate Juliana.
Theodore had some objections to Ophelia's arrangement. After all, Isadora had been working at the company for over a year and was finally getting familiar with her tasks. Now, suddenly replacing her with Juliana, who had no experience in the workplace, seemed inappropriate to him.
Just as Theodore was about to speak, Cecilia said, "Okay."
Theodore was stunned. He turned to look at Cecilia. Didn't Cecilia always oppose Juliana joining the Lockhart Group? Why did she suddenly agree so readily?
Not only Theodore, but Ophelia and Vincent were also shocked by Cecilia's straightforward answer. They had prepared for a lot of resistance, knowing it might not be Theodore but Cecilia who would object. Yet, Cecilia's prompt agreement made them uneasy.
Given Cecilia's recent unpredictable behavior, they couldn't figure out her motives. Her unconventional actions made them suspect she had some hidden agenda.
Cecilia knew exactly what they were thinking. The reason she agreed so quickly was that Ophelia had personally come to discuss Juliana's employment, indicating thorough preparation. She didn't want to waste her breath and risk leaving any room for criticism. It was better to let Juliana join the company openly, leaving Ophelia and Vincent with nothing to say.
"Isadora indeed shouldn't appear in public for a while, and Juliana is kind enough to take on her work. We certainly won't let Juliana's sincerity go to waste," Cecilia said righteously. "Dad, don't you agree?"
Theodore quickly nodded and replied, "Yes, If Juliana is willing, we will fully support her. Juliana, just report to the company with your father and brother tomorrow."
"Thank you," Juliana quickly expressed her gratitude.
Juliana hadn't expected things to go so smoothly. She successfully replaced Isadora and couldn't help but show a faint, unnoticed smirk. So, replacing Cecilia wouldn't be too difficult either.
So,
"Isadora's work issue is easy to solve. But have you thought about how to handle her future life?" Cecilia suddenly asked kindly.
Vincent thought Cecilia was about to mock him again. After all, Isadora had shamed the family by having an affair with Dominic behind Cecilia's back.
So, at that moment, Vincent's face naturally looked grim, "Isadora will reflect on her actions herself. You don't need to worry about it!"
"Ultimately, I don't think Isadora is entirely at fault. Dominic has a lot to answer for too. Haven't you thought about holding Dominic accountable?" Cecilia reminded.
Vincent was stunned. He hadn't considered about it. He only thought about his daughter's disgraceful actions and hadn't considered what benefits they could gain from the situation.
Cecilia said nonchalantly, "On the wedding day, when I found out about Isadora and Dominic's secret relationship, I was furious. After all, I always thought Dominic only loved me. So, when this happened, I lost my composure and just wanted to seek justice for myself. Now that some time has passed, I've calmed down and thought, since Dominic and Isadora are in love, why not support them? If we support them, it would be a beautiful story, and Isadora wouldn't have to endure so much ridicule."
Vincent was moved by Cecilia's words, but he still didn't believe Cecilia had such good intentions, so he didn't express his opinion easily.
Cecilia continued, "Of course, I have my own selfish reasons. Now that I'm married to Alaric, there are bound to be some controversies. If Dominic and Isadora become a couple, it would be a happy ending for everyone, and no one would say anything."
"You've thought of everything," Vincent said, clearly wishing for such an outcome but unwilling to admit it.
Cecilia pretended not to notice and said innocently, "Actually, I want to thank Isadora and Dominic. If it weren't for their relationship, I wouldn't have been able to marry Alaric. Marrying him made me realize what true love is. My relationship with Dominic was probably just childhood dependence, which I mistook for love. Now, I sincerely hope we all find happiness."
The more Cecilia spoke kindly, the more likely Vincent was to fall for it!
