Chapter 646 Let Sebastian Leave Everhart Bank

The vibe in the conference room got pretty tense all of a sudden.

After Atticus spoke, Jeffrey chimed in, "Mr. Everhart makes a good point, and I agree that Mr. Rainier's skills are beyond what we expected. I'm not pushing him to keep his initial promise; I just wanted to double-check since the deadline's coming up, to avoid any mix-ups."

"Don't sweat it. I can tell you right now, Dashiell's got what it takes to stay in his position, no questions asked," Atticus said firmly, laying down the law.

Jeffrey went quiet.

He glanced over at Sebastian.

Sebastian still had some folks in his corner.

To be blunt, Sebastian had been cozying up to this group of execs behind the scenes, while Dashiell always played it fair and square with the senior management. A lot of board members didn't get much out of Dashiell's leadership and couldn't line their pockets, so some of them, looking out for themselves, wanted Sebastian to be the general manager.

Sebastian gave a slight nod and said, "I agree with Mr. Everhart."

He was the first to take a stand.

This took everyone by surprise.

Everyone knew Dashiell and Sebastian were rivals.

In fact, Sebastian was pretty frustrated under Dashiell.

Logically, Sebastian was the one Everhart Bank was grooming. After all, he was Atticus's son-in-law. He should've had a higher position, but Dashiell, an outsider, had taken everything from him.

Within Everhart Bank, the tension between Dashiell and Sebastian was no secret.

So, seeing Sebastian suddenly back Dashiell was definitely a shocker.

Sebastian said, "During this time, Mr. Rainier has kept Everhart Bank's market share safe from Unity World Bank, showing his strong skills. It's only fair he continues as the general manager of Everhart Bank."

Dashiell looked over at Sebastian.

He didn't give Sebastian any response.

After speaking, Sebastian didn't say anything else, making it clear this was his stance—no personal feelings involved.

Atticus, hearing Sebastian's words, nodded approvingly.

Seraphina wanted to pick Sebastian, but Atticus wasn't on board with that. He was still trying to pair Seraphina with Dashiell. But now, because of Sebastian's generosity, he had a slightly better opinion of him.

He said, "Since we're all on the same page, let's put this to bed. I don't want to hear about it again."

No one said a word.

The meeting wrapped up smoothly.

Dashiell followed Atticus into his office.

Seraphina watched them go, then turned to look at Sebastian.

Sebastian was waiting for her on purpose.

Seraphina walked over to Sebastian and smiled. "You were pretty nice to Dashiell."

Sebastian smiled back. "He's got the skills, I have to admit that. It's just..."

Seraphina looked at Sebastian.

"Never mind, you just focus on being happy, and I'll take care of the rest," Sebastian said, patting Seraphina's head affectionately.

But Seraphina dodged at that moment.

Sebastian's hand awkwardly hung in the air.

"In a work setting, that's not appropriate," Seraphina said calmly.Sebastian nodded, the smile in his eyes slowly fading.

Seraphina pretended not to notice and walked ahead.

Sebastian clenched his fists and trailed behind her.

In Atticus's office, he sternly told Dashiell, "Don't let that promise you made weigh on your mind anymore. This matter is over! If anyone brings it up again, I'll handle it."

Atticus knew Dashiell too well.

Dashiell wouldn't accept any unreasonable favors.

So Atticus called him in to remind him specifically.

Dashiell disagreed.

It wasn't that he thought the matter couldn't be easily resolved. If it weren't for someone deliberately causing trouble, he wouldn't have had to spend so much effort maintaining the existing market share and might have achieved his initial goal. So he didn't have any psychological burden.

He just knew that this matter wouldn't end so easily.

Sebastian wouldn't let him off that easily.

Sebastian had finally found Dashiell's weakness and wouldn't let it go.

Seeing that Dashiell didn't agree, Atticus got a bit anxious. "Dashiell, don't be too stubborn!"

Dashiell responded.

He didn't voice his concerns.

After all, these were things he could handle within his capabilities.

"By the way, about you and Seraphina..." Atticus, having received a positive response, shifted the topic to personal matters.

"Mr. Everhart, I have some work to do, so I'll head back to my office." Dashiell directly declined the conversation.

Atticus was helpless.

As Dashiell got up to leave, he said, "If you want Seraphina to develop at Everhart Bank, I suggest letting Sebastian leave Everhart Bank."

Atticus's expression visibly changed.

He looked at Dashiell.

Dashiell didn't insist. "Think about it. It's just my suggestion."

Atticus nodded.

Over the years, he still had some expectations for Sebastian.

He thought the best way was for Seraphina to develop her management skills on her own, with Sebastian assisting her. He didn't really want Sebastian to end up with nothing!

Dashiell also understood Atticus's thoughts.

So he didn't push too hard.

But clearly, Seraphina, living in a comfortable environment, couldn't break out of it.

And Dashiell really didn't want to waste too much time on Seraphina.

Dashiell returned to his office.

He had just opened his computer to handle some work before leaving.

Tonight was Alaric's birthday party, and he didn't want to work late.

At that time, Daphne knocked and entered, her face still showing some anxiety. "Mr. Rainier, there's bad news. The media has published that your initial promise when you joined the company is about to expire. They are questioning whether Everhart Bank will overlook it due to your recent outstanding performance."

Dashiell listened, his face calm.

If no trouble had arisen, he might have been worried, as it would mean he didn't know what schemes Sebastian had behind the scenes.

Now that trouble had arisen, he was actually relieved.

He responded, "Okay, I understand."

Daphne looked at Dashiell, bewildered.

That was it?

No instructions?

Dashiell didn't even react.

"Anything else?" he asked.

Daphne quickly shook her head. "No, I just..."

Dashiell said, "If not, then you can leave."

With that, Daphne closed the office door and couldn't help but let out a breath.

Dashiell's calm demeanor was truly admirable!
