Chapter 365 Conspiracy (7) Andrew Falls into the Trap
At 3 p.m., Rose knocked on Cecilia's office door.
"Hey, what's up?" Cecilia asked, barely looking up from her work.
Rose said, "So, the General Affairs Department is beefing up security today. They gave us a heads-up that after work, some folks will come by to update the surveillance system. They suggested we stash away any valuable stuff."
Cecilia's eyes narrowed. Something felt off.
"Ms. Lockhart?" Rose called out again, noticing Cecilia's sudden silence.
"Yeah, got it. You can go now," Cecilia replied.
"Sure thing, ma'am."
With that, Rose left.
Cecilia immediately grabbed her phone and called Cassius.
"Mrs. Whitaker, what now?" Cassius sounded a bit annoyed, probably because Cecilia had been bugging him a lot lately.
"Can you get me a hidden camera?" Cecilia asked.
Cassius shot back, "Cecilia, hidden cameras are everywhere. Do you really need my help for this?"
"I think I'm being watched. It's tricky to do anything without raising suspicion, so I need your help," Cecilia insisted.
"Alright, I'll get it," Cassius relented.
"And send it to me with a bouquet of flowers, under Alaric's name," Cecilia added.
"You're really playing it safe," Cassius noted.
"Well, the enemy isn't weak," Cecilia replied.
"Got it," Cassius agreed.
Cecilia hung up, her eyes tense.
Meanwhile, Dominic got a call from Andrew. "Everything's set. Tonight, the General Affairs Department will upgrade the cameras and replace all the equipment. There'll be a surveillance blind spot tonight," Andrew reported.
"Good job," Dominic praised. "I've got someone tailing Cecilia. If she makes any sudden moves, I'll let you know. Go ahead with the plan."
"Understood," Andrew replied.
At 5 p.m., a bouquet of flowers was delivered to Cecilia's office, causing quite a stir.
When Cecilia saw the 99 red roses, she thought Cassius had gone overboard. She had asked for flowers, but not this many. Wasn't this just drawing attention?
Despite her internal grumbling, she had to admit the roses were stunning and irresistible.
Cecilia thought Cassius must be quite the charmer. The idea of this womanizer eventually falling for Lily amused her.
She found the card in the roses. It read, "I like you, forever and always. —Alaric."
Cecilia smiled, pleased with Cassius's performance. She took off the card and unwrapped the roses, searching for the hidden camera.
Just then, her phone rang. It was Alaric.
"Do you like them?" Alaric asked.
Cecilia was caught off guard. "The roses," Alaric clarified.
"You sent them?" Cecilia raised an eyebrow.
"Did you really think I'd let another guy send you flowers?" Alaric pressed. "Do you like them?"
"Yeah, I do," Cecilia said without hesitation.
"Glad to hear it. I have a meeting now. We'll talk later," Alaric said, then hung up.
Cecilia stared at her phone, a bit dazed. Alaric was clearly very busy, yet he still managed to surprise her. And every surprise made her heart flutter.
"Ms. Lockhart," Rose knocked on the door from outside.
Cecilia snapped back to reality. "Come in."
Rose entered the office. "You called for me?"
"Yeah," Cecilia responded, having found the tiny camera. "Hide this around your safe, as discreetly as possible. Make sure it stays hidden."
"Do you think someone will try to open my safe?" Rose asked, surprised.
"Better safe than sorry," Cecilia replied.
"Got it, ma'am." Rose quickly agreed.
She always felt that whatever Cecilia said was spot on. All she had to do was follow orders.
Over in the PR Office, Andrew was on the phone with Dominic, who was drilling him about tonight's task.
After hammering home the importance, Andrew suddenly said, "Cecilia and Alaric seem pretty tight."
Dominic's expression shifted. "Why bring that up now?"
Andrew said, "Just thinking, it's a shame you broke off the engagement with Cecilia. If we knew she'd become this powerful, you shouldn't have let Isadora seduce you back then..."
"Enough. I have no feelings for Cecilia, and I don't regret anything," Dominic said coldly.
Andrew didn't buy it. The current Cecilia was a rare gem, someone any guy would be lucky to have in their life.
He said, "Cecilia just got a bouquet from Alaric, and now all the women in the office are buzzing about it. You know how they gossip. They start with Cecilia and Alaric, then naturally compare you to Alaric..."
"Andrew, do you know what's most important right now? Do you still have the mind to care about other things?" Dominic's tone was clearly annoyed.
"I just wanted to say, if Cecilia ever falls from grace, don't show her any mercy," Andrew instigated.
"I'll make her life a living hell!" Dominic gritted his teeth and abruptly hung up.
No matter how high and mighty Cecilia was now, he would make her suffer just as much!
Cecilia left the company at 9 P.M. as usual.
Sitting in Augustus's car, Cecilia got a call from Rose.
"Ms. Lockhart, I was robbed. I parked my car in the neighborhood, and I just..." Rose was stuttering, clearly freaked out.
"Rose, calm down," Cecilia said, trying to comfort her. "Are you okay? Are you hurt?"
"No, but my bag was stolen. The key to the safe was in it. I'm worried there might be a problem. Should I go back to the office?" Rose tried to calm herself.
"No need," Cecilia immediately refused. "Call the police now."
"Are you sure? What if it was intentional? I've never been robbed before." Rose was very agitated.
"Just call the police. I know how to handle the rest," Cecilia pressed.
"Okay." Rose quickly nodded.
Rose promptly called the police and anxiously waited for them to arrive.
Meanwhile, Dominic called Andrew, "The key is obtained. Meet at the usual place. Someone will bring it to you."
"Got it." Andrew was extremely nervous.
Ten minutes later, Andrew got the key to the safe. He quickly returned to the Lockhart Group.
Dodging the company guards, he didn't take the elevator but climbed the emergency stairs, reaching the 23rd floor in one go. Panting, he rushed into Rose's office, quickly opened her safe, and found a USB drive. He hurriedly took it back to his office, copied the contents to a prepared USB drive, and then returned the original USB drive, closing the safe.
Everything went smoother than he expected, and he even felt he had done it flawlessly.
However, the entire process was watched by Cecilia.
