Chapter 130 Driving Away the Arch-Nemesis, Great Satisfaction
On the quiet rooftop.
The senior employees of the Lockhart Group were floored by what they were seeing.
It looked like Charles had totally blown it today.
Cecilia waited, cool as a cucumber, for Charles to respond.
After a few minutes, just as Cecilia was about to lose her cool, Charles finally admitted, "Yeah, I told Roy to do it."
His confession was a bombshell.
Having mistresses and abusing power was bad enough, but Charles stooping this low made everyone question his morals.
Cecilia stayed calm.
She wasn't surprised. "Mr. Wolf, what did I do to make you threaten me like this? If Roy had jumped and I followed, you'd have two deaths on your hands! What kind of grudge do you have against me?"
Cecilia's blunt words mortified Charles.
"Is it because I didn't follow your orders at the last senior meeting? Is that why you're holding a grudge and trying to get back at me?" Cecilia was giving Charles an out.
Charles's face darkened.
"Or is someone else pulling your strings?" Cecilia hit the nail on the head.
She wanted to expose Vincent, too.
But that wasn't easy.
Charles was no fool. If he ratted out his accomplice, he'd have no chance of a comeback. Keeping Vincent in the shadows might give him a shot at redemption. He got defensive and said, "I just can't stand your attitude. You're so young and always opposing us! I just wanted to teach you a lesson. No one else is involved!"
Cecilia knew she couldn't push him further right now.
Things had gone just as she planned.
First, she cleared her name from the accusation of bullying an employee to the point of suicide.
Second, she publicly shamed Charles.
Third, she managed to oust her father's nemesis from the company.
She said, "Mr. Wolf, now that everything's out in the open, I don't think you want to stay at the Lockhart Group, bearing all these charges and becoming a laughingstock."
Charles gritted his teeth and spat, "I will resign!"
"Good." Cecilia agreed immediately. "Mr. Lockhart, since Mr. Wolf is willing to resign, I suggest we overlook his misuse of power for personal gain. After all, he's worked here for many years. Let's give him a chance to start over."
"I agree," Theodore nodded.
For years, Theodore had been frustrated with Charles. Charles always opposed him, but their positions left Theodore powerless.
He never imagined his daughter could make Charles resign in just a week. It was incredibly satisfying!
"As for Roy..." Cecilia's eyes shifted.
She glanced at Roy, still squatting on the ground with wet pants.
Then she said coldly, "You should resign voluntarily."
Roy didn't dare argue.
In his current state, he was too embarrassed to stay.
He never thought he'd end up resigning and dragging Charles down with him.
Plus, with Charles's affair with his daughter exposed, their relationship was likely over, too.
He couldn't imagine life without any income!
"Oh, and one more thing," Cecilia suddenly remembered. "Mr. Alexander."
"Yes," Gilbert responded.
"Calculate how much extra salary Roy has received over the years and have him return it before processing his resignation. If he doesn't return it within three days, we'll report it to the police."
"Okay," Gilbert agreed quickly.
Roy's face turned even paler. He had to return over $200,000!
"Mr. Lockhart, do you have any other instructions?" Cecilia asked Theodore respectfully after arranging everything.
Theodore was truly impressed by Cecilia's handling of the situation.
Not just Theodore, everyone present looked at Cecilia with newfound respect.
No one could have imagined today's incident would unfold like this.
At this moment, they even admired Cecilia to the point of awe.
"No more," Theodore said cheerfully.
Cecilia smiled slightly.
She turned to everyone and said, "I apologize for taking up your time. Please return to your posts now. As for Mr. Wolf and Roy, I hope you can complete your resignation procedures today."
After Cecilia finished speaking, everyone gradually left. Theodore and Cecilia were also among the crowd.
Back in the office.
Cecilia instructed, "Rose, have someone monitor Charles and Roy's resignation process today."
Rose replied, "Yes."
Cecilia said, "Make me a cup of black coffee and pour a glass of water for Augustus. We've wasted too much time today, and I expect to work overtime."
"Yes," Rose responded respectfully. As she was leaving, she couldn't help but look back.
She saw Cecilia calmly immersed in her work. Despite turning the situation around beautifully today, Cecilia showed no excitement, as if everything was under her control and the outcome was expected.
Rose couldn't help but look at Cecilia with new respect.
When Rose first got the notice to assist Cecilia, she was reluctant but agreed out of gratitude to Theodore, thinking it would be for three to six months at most. Now, she suddenly felt like she wanted to work with Cecilia for a lifetime.
For a 22-year-old fresh graduate to achieve this, she could only feel admiration and couldn't find another word to describe it.
"What's the matter?" Cecilia sensed Rose's gaze and asked.
"Nothing," Rose quickly snapped back and replied. "I just realized you're much more impressive than I thought."
"So, do you still think you'll suffer a loss?" Cecilia typed on the keyboard, a slight smile on her face.
"No," Rose said.
Cecilia smiled. She felt her secretary wasn't so boring after all.
