Chapter 208 "I Really Miss You, It's Been A Long Time."

Maurice checked out Cecilia, and she did the same to him, unsure why. She always thought Alaric's friends were impressive.

"Mrs. Whitaker," Maurice said respectfully. "Mr. Whitaker's injuries are serious. I need to give you some precautions."

"Okay," Cecilia replied, listening closely.

"First, his wound is near his heart, so avoid touching his chest. It could make things worse. Be careful when helping him."

Cecilia went pale. She remembered hitting Alaric's chest earlier, even if she didn't hit hard. It must've hurt him, but he didn't show it.

"Second, his wound got infected because it wasn't treated right away. I cleaned it, so it should be fine now. But if there's any bleeding, inflammation, or fever, call me immediately." He handed her a business card.

Cecilia took it, memorized the number, and nodded.

"Third, he needs rest. He can walk around but no sex."

Cecilia blushed.

"Sex can raise his heart rate, which could tear the wound and cause severe bleeding. If that happens, it could be life-threatening."

'Did he have to be so scary?' Cecilia thought, staring at Maurice.

"Thank you, Mrs. Whitaker," Maurice said, bowing slightly before leaving.

Cecilia looked at Maurice, then at Alaric, who was half-lying on the bed. She bit her lip and walked over with a bowl of porridge.

Alaric seemed in better spirits. "Did you hear what Dr. Maurice said?" she asked.

"About sex?" Alaric grinned, still looking carefree despite his injuries.

"Alaric," Cecilia said, annoyed.

"I heard. I'll be careful," Alaric said, sounding obedient.

Cecilia took a deep breath. "Want some porridge?"

"Yes," Alaric nodded.

As she fed him, she felt uneasy. Either she was injured, or he was. Her injuries hadn't fully healed, and now he was hurt again. Was it bad luck for her or him?

"Did you get hurt because of me?" Cecilia asked while feeding him.

Alaric didn't answer, but she already knew. He had rushed back from Astralton City to save her, which must've caused his injuries.

"Alaric, will you ever tell me who you really are?" Cecilia asked, looking into his eyes.

"There will be a day," Alaric said firmly.

"Then I'll wait for you," she replied.

Alaric had once told her to wait until she could fully accept and trust him. Now, she was waiting for him to reveal his true self.

In the room, Cecilia fed Alaric porridge, one bite at a time. The previous topic had made things awkwardly quiet, so she switched gears. "Is your leg better now?"

The doctor had said it would take three months for his leg to heal, but it had been less than a month.

"Yeah," Alaric nodded. "It wasn't that serious to begin with."

"Not that serious, and you made me take care of you like you were helpless?" Cecilia snapped, getting annoyed.

Alaric chuckled. "If I didn't, how else would you have gotten so close and taken such good care of me?"

"Do all men think with their lower halves?" Cecilia grumbled. Alaric always seemed to have sex on his mind.

"Not entirely," Alaric laughed flirtatiously. "But I won't deny I've wanted to be with you for a long time."

Cecilia went quiet.

"That night, you said you were willing," Alaric reminded her.

Cecilia blushed. She had been caught up in the moment that night.

"You're not someone who goes back on their word," Alaric said, looking at her intently. "I believe you'll keep your promise."

Cecilia bit her lip. "Even if I'm willing, you have to be able to."

Alaric's expression shifted.

"I'm afraid you'll die in bed," Cecilia said smugly, feeling victorious for once.

"Just wait, Cecilia," Alaric threatened. "One day you'll see how capable I am!"

Cecilia looked indifferent. 'Who knows how long it'll take for him to recover,' she thought. She'd deal with it then.

She continued feeding him porridge, and Alaric ate with gritted teeth. After finishing the bowl, Cecilia was about to head downstairs when her phone rang. It was Seraphina.

"Seraphina," Cecilia answered slowly.

"Cecilia, something's happened. Dashiell's in trouble," Seraphina's voice was panicked and tearful.

Cecilia's face changed instantly. Alaric noticed and became serious.

"Where are you now?" Cecilia asked, not needing more details. This had happened in her previous life too, but she couldn't remember the exact location or time, just that it was around these days.

"I'm at, I'm at..." Seraphina stammered, too nervous to speak clearly.

"Seraphina, calm down. Dashiell won't die. First, call an ambulance and get him to the nearest hospital. Then tell me where you are, and I'll come to you."

"Okay." Seraphina tried to calm herself.

Cecilia hung up and turned to Alaric. "Something happened to Seraphina. I need to go. If you want more porridge, I'll ask George to feed you."

With that, she quickly left. Alaric watched her go, his expression shifting. Cecilia had said Dashiell wouldn't die. What had happened to Dashiell?
