Chapter 396 Great Satisfaction, A Family's Happiness
"You're right!" Ophelia suddenly shouted, totally vibing with what Cecilia just said.
"Cecilia, you've blown my mind about women. I used to think women were always second to men, like no matter what, a woman could never match up. Look at the Yakurosean Empire's history—every ruler was a dude, every big company passed down to men. I was so biased, that's why I always favored Andrew and treated you like crap! But now, I see I was dead wrong. You're way smarter than Andrew; compared to you, he's a total loser!"
Ophelia got more and more hyped as she talked.
She was finally facing the truth!
"Cecilia." Ophelia grabbed Cecilia's hand. "I know I messed up big time treating you badly. From now on, I'll never do that again. Can you forgive me?"
"You're my Grandma, it's only fair to take some heat from you. I was also kinda rude before, so let's call it even," Cecilia said, all classy.
"Your words make me feel even worse. If it weren't for my actions, you wouldn't have acted that way. It's all on me," Ophelia quickly said. "I really regret it."
"Dad just said, let's leave the past in the past. From now on, let's just be a happy family. As long as we end up good, that's what counts," Cecilia said kindly.
"A family? You still see me as family?" Ophelia asked, getting a bit emotional.
"Of course, we're family," Genevieve jumped in. "No matter what, we're family. From now on, you'll stay with us. I'll get the maids to set up a room for you right away."
Seeing Genevieve's excitement, Ophelia's eyes teared up again.
Ophelia's guilt towards them was even more obvious.
"Alright, Mom. Don't cry," Genevieve smiled a bit. "If you're sad, we won't be happy either."
"Okay, I won't cry," Ophelia said warmly and wiped her tears.
Then she turned to look at Vivienne.
As Ophelia saw Vivienne, her warm look disappeared, and she said to Vivienne coldly, "As for Andrew, let the law handle it. We won't step in! That's his own mess; he made his bed, now he has to lie in it!"
Vivienne couldn't handle that!
She shook her head, begging, "Mom, please! Andrew really knows he messed up. After this, he'll definitely change. He really..."
"To learn a lesson, he has to get one first!" Ophelia said coldly. "If he really knows he was wrong, he can start fresh in ten years."
"No, in ten years, Andrew will be out of touch with everything. How will he survive..." Vivienne was lost.
"Enough!" Ophelia didn't want to hear another word from Vivienne. She said, "Instead of worrying about Andrew, you should worry about yourself! Abusing the elderly is a crime too!"
Vivienne's face went pale with fear.
Ophelia said, "The marks from your abuse are still on me. I'm calling the cops right now! You better start worrying about yourself!"
"No, Mom, please, don't have me arrested. I was wrong. I'm begging you to forgive me. I'm too old to go to jail, I can't..." Vivienne was freaking out, totally panicked.
She never saw this coming.
Her husband was locked up, her son was on his way there, her daughter was gone, and now she was facing her own legal mess.
She couldn't handle it.
"Theodore, call the cops!" Ophelia said, ice-cold.
"Got it." Theodore nodded quickly.
Thinking about the bruises on Ophelia, Theodore couldn't wait to see Vivienne get what she deserved.
Cecilia stood by, watching Vivienne's meltdown. She probably didn't expect trying to save Andrew would blow up in her face like this!
She thought Ophelia would talk them into saving Andrew.
Now, not only did she fail to save Andrew, but she also got herself in deep trouble!
Cecilia couldn't help but look at Ophelia.
She had really hated her for all the crap she pulled before!
Ophelia's sudden change of heart was the only thing that stopped her from continuing to hate her.
But now, she couldn't help but admire Ophelia's no-nonsense attitude.
When it came to Vivienne and Andrew, Ophelia didn't hold back!
Anyone else might've hesitated.
But Ophelia handled it fast and firm, no second thoughts!
The cops showed up at Lockhart Mansion and took Vivienne away.
As she was taken away, she was losing it, totally hysterical.
She probably never thought she'd end up like this.
She never imagined her family would fall apart like this!
Vivienne had been gone for a while, but the hall still seemed to echo with her tragic cries.
Theodore said, "Mom, from now on, you'll stay with us. I'll handle Vivienne's family's stuff as you wish. Just take care of yourself at home."
"Alright. From now on, I'll live with you," Ophelia said, her eyes red. "No more dumb decisions from me."
Theodore nodded. "Genevieve, take Mom upstairs to rest. It's been a long day. I'll call a doctor to check on her injuries."
"Got it," Genevieve quickly helped Ophelia upstairs.
Watching Ophelia's back, Cecilia felt this outcome wasn't so bad.
Ophelia's real repentance let her parents fulfill their duties, which was way better than if Ophelia had died.
At least for her parents, it was much better.
She turned to Theodore, who had just finished calling the doctor, and said, "Dad, Rose just texted me saying the Kingsley Group wants to come over and sign the contract."
"What contract?" Theodore asked.
"You'll see when you come with me." Cecilia smiled.
Theodore looked at her, curious. "What surprise do you have for me this time?"
"You'll like it," Cecilia said.
"Cecilia, you really are my precious daughter. I've never regretted having only one daughter." Theodore couldn't hide his joy. "If I had a son like Andrew, I would've died of anger!"
"If I were born into a family like Andrew's, I would've died of anger too," Cecilia said seriously.
They were clearly buttering each other up.
