Chapter 631 Forcefully Taking the Shares
Inside Dashiell's office, Sebastian was always on edge around him.
He was constantly worried Dashiell might pull some kind of stunt.
To Sebastian, Dashiell was his biggest rival in every way, and he couldn't afford to let his guard down.
"Check this out," Dashiell suddenly said, handing a document to Sebastian.
Sebastian's eyes narrowed as he took it. It was a transfer agreement for twenty percent of the shares of Everhart Bank.
The document stated that he would unconditionally transfer his twenty percent stake in Everhart Bank to Dashiell.
The more he read, the angrier Sebastian got. Finally, he couldn't hold it in any longer. He slammed the document onto Dashiell's desk. "Are you out of your mind? You want me to sign this? Do you really think I'd agree to this? You're completely ridiculous, Dashiell! Who do you think you are, expecting me to just hand over my shares?"
Dashiell didn't seem fazed by Sebastian's outburst.
He stood up from his chair, towering over Sebastian.
"Don't hold your breath if you think I'm going to transfer the shares, Dashiell!" Sebastian snapped.
He looked at Dashiell with nothing but disdain.
Did Dashiell really think that by taking Seraphina away, Sebastian would just hand over the shares as compensation?
Dashiell wasn't even close to deserving that!
"So, are you planning to never be with Seraphina?" Dashiell asked.
Sebastian's expression changed instantly. He clenched his fists, struggling to keep his anger in check.
Every time Sebastian thought about the agreement he had signed earlier, he felt a surge of rage. He couldn't stand the idea of never being with Seraphina! But he also refused to give up that twenty percent stake, feeling it was completely unfair.
And even if he had to hand it over, it wouldn't be to Dashiell.
Why not give it to Atticus?
If Sebastian gave it to Atticus, at least the shares would ultimately belong to Seraphina, and if they were Seraphina's, they were basically his.
"That's not something you deserve!" Sebastian, having thought it through, was even angrier at Dashiell.
Dashiell calmly pulled out another document. "Take a look."
Sebastian's expression darkened. He sensed that Dashiell had something up his sleeve. He took the document, but when he saw what it contained, it was even harder for him to accept than the transfer agreement.
Sebastian's face was grim, and he didn't say a word for a long time.
Dashiell watched his every reaction.
Dashiell said coldly, "Your secret dealings with Unity World Bank are all documented here. If this goes public, you can imagine the consequences."
"You!" Sebastian's face darkened even more. He never expected Dashiell to have evidence of his wrongdoings. He had executed everything flawlessly, leaving no room for error. Yet Dashiell had managed to uncover proof. Sebastian didn't even have a chance to defend himself.
If Dashiell really handed this document to the police, Sebastian would be finished.
Sebastian glared at Dashiell, trying to figure out his intentions. Dashiell clearly had the power to ruin him, yet he held back. Instead, he seemed to enjoy tormenting Sebastian like this. Was it some kind of psychological game? What exactly did Dashiell want?"I only want the shares," Dashiell said, like he could read Sebastian's mind. "Even if you end up in jail, the shares would still be yours. I thought it over and realized it wasn't worth it. To me, you're not a threat, whether you're in prison or out."
Sebastian felt humiliated by Dashiell's words.
But he had to admit, Dashiell was pretty sharp.
Sebastian said, "Dashiell, I only have twenty percent of the shares, but as long as you get Seraphina, Everhart Bank will be yours."
Sebastian wasn't trying to remind Dashiell of gains and losses, but Dashiell was so smart that what Sebastian could think of, Dashiell could also think of. Yet, Dashiell didn't choose this way. Why?
"I've made it clear that I respect Seraphina's choice," Dashiell said bluntly. "If she chose you, then you're the one who has her."
Hearing this, Sebastian frowned.
Did Dashiell really let go of this relationship?
"Believe it or not. Now you only have two choices: one is to sign and unconditionally transfer the shares to me. The other is, I make this document public and hand it over to the police to deal with your commercial crime," Dashiell said coldly.
He called it a choice.
But he didn't give Sebastian any room to choose.
Sebastian realized he had no choice but to take the first option.
Opting for the second would be a path to his own demise.
Yet, deep down, he was reluctant.
He had always known that a day would come when he'd have to return the shares.
But having Dashiell push him into it was a blow to his pride that he simply couldn't accept.
He looked at Dashiell and said coldly, "How can I trust that after I give you the shares, you won't expose me? Maybe you just want to take my shares first, so you can have it both ways!"
Dashiell glanced at Sebastian and said, "Did I expose you last time when you colluded with the Kingsley Group for that ten-billion-dollar loan?"
Sebastian's face darkened.
Being mocked by Dashiell left Sebastian feeling as though he were under malicious scrutiny himself.
It was difficult for Sebastian to accept.
In that moment, he realized he had repeatedly failed when it came to Dashiell.
How did Dashiell know Sebastian was colluding with Unity World Bank?
"It's simple. Who benefits the most from Unity World Bank entering Serenovia City? That person is most likely the spy," Dashiell explained, not wanting to waste too much time with Sebastian. "Once Unity World Bank seizes Everhart Bank's market share, I would be dismissed. If I'm dismissed, the next person to become the general manager of Everhart Bank would be you. At the entire Everhart Bank, only you would benefit."
"Once the target is identified, it's just a matter of surveillance. I deliberately didn't let you join the special task force to push you to take extreme measures. After all, once you couldn't provide effective information to the other party, they would threaten you, forcing you to use illegal means to steal. And once you took action, the evidence would fall into my hands!" Dashiell said.
Sebastian knew it couldn't be that simple.
He had been so cautious; how did Dashiell discover it!
He glared at Dashiell.
"Sign it," Dashiell said to Sebastian, "You have no choice."
At that moment, Sebastian really felt he was pushed to the limit by Dashiell.
He picked up the black pen beside him.
Looking at the shares he hadn't held for long, he unwillingly signed his name.
Dashiell was indeed right; Sebastian had no choice!
