Chapter 472 The Game (17) Nathaniel's Fate

Dominic bolted back to his pad.

Lyra was ticked off.

The idea of heading back soon had her fuming.

She went quiet, stewing in her anger.

Dominic rushed over to calm her down.

He sweet-talked her, trying to lift her mood.

But Lyra stayed stone-cold.

Since she was a kid, if she didn't get her way, no one could calm her down, not even Tomas.

Dominic knew Lyra's temper like the back of his hand.

Winning her over took a ton of effort.

He knew sweet talk wouldn't cut it, so he scooped her up from the couch and carried her to the bed.

Since forever, no one dared to cross her. When she was pissed, her whole family would bend over backward to make her happy. For someone like her, the only way was to flip the script, like taking control.

At first, Lyra fought back.

But slowly, she couldn't resist Dominic's dominance.

From childhood to now, no one had ever dared to push her around, except Dominic.

After their romp, she lay on Dominic's chest.

In a playful tone, she said, “Who told you to treat me like this!”

Dominic sneered inside.

Lyra was just needy, craving a man to take charge, yet wanting to act all high and mighty.

He won her over by playing to her tastes.

He said, “I couldn't help myself. When I see you, I just wanna make love. I'm sorry, Lyra, for hurting you earlier.”

Dominic looked all guilty.

Lyra pretended to be mad, saying, “If you do this again, I won't talk to you anymore.”

“Okay, next time I'll be gentler,” Dominic promised.

In his head, he thought, next time he'd be even wilder.

After all, Lyra liked him because of his possessiveness.

They chilled in bed for a bit.

Lyra got a call from Tomas, reluctantly got up, and left with the bodyguard in black waiting at the door.

Dominic looked like he didn't want her to go.

His eyes even got misty.

Lyra was also bummed to leave.

She said, “Once things are sorted, come find me.”

“Okay.” Dominic nodded. “Wait for me.”

“Okay.” Lyra left.

Dominic walked her all the way to the car downstairs.

He watched as Lyra got in and drove off, even chasing the car for a few steps.

He looked so heartbroken.

Lyra was clearly touched, her eyes welling up.

It wasn't until Lyra's car was out of sight that Dominic's cold demeanor returned.

He even let out a cold chuckle.

He could handle any woman, except Cecilia.

At that moment, his face turned dark.

He spun around, headed to the garage, got in his car, and sped to the detention center.

While driving, he called his lawyer.

“Mr. Kingsley,” the lawyer said respectfully.

“How's the bail for Nathaniel going?” Dominic asked.

“Just one last step left. He should be out today.”

“No need to proceed,” Dominic said flatly.

“What?” The lawyer was confused.

“Just do as I say,” Dominic ordered.

“Yes.”

Dominic hung up, his eyes narrowing.

He didn't want Nathaniel to rot in jail, but someone had to take the fall, and it had to be Nathaniel.

He parked his car at the detention center and smoothly got in to see Nathaniel.

The place was a dump, but at least Nathaniel had a cell to himself, dodging a lot of prison drama.

Nathaniel saw Dominic and thought he was there to bust him out. He was a bit ticked off. "What took you so long? This place is a hellhole!"

He started to walk out of the cell.

But then, the guard slammed the door shut.

Nathaniel's face went dark, and he glared at Dominic. "What's going on?"

"Dad, you're not getting out just yet," Dominic said coldly.

"What the hell are you talking about!"

"I talked to the Monroe Family. They're willing to throw a billion our way to help us out. But someone's gotta take the blame. They can't just sweep this under the rug, especially with the media all over it. They need a scapegoat," Dominic laid it out.

"What do you mean!" Nathaniel's face twisted in anger.

"I mean, the whole fake property certificate scam to get loans was all you. The rest of us had no clue," Dominic explained.

"Dominic, are you out of your mind? You want me to go to jail?" Nathaniel was livid.

He felt like strangling Dominic right then and there.

"If you don't want the Kingsley Group to go under, you've gotta take the hit. I thought about pinning it on Penelope, but it wouldn't fly. She doesn't have the chops to negotiate with Everhart Bank, and you signed the loan agreement yourself!" Dominic tried to reason with him.

"Dominic, did you set this up from the start? So when it all blew up, I'd be the fall guy!" Nathaniel couldn't hear anything else.

All he could think was that Dominic had played him!

"Dad, this is our only shot at survival. I've busted my ass to get the Monroe family's trust back, and I'm not blowing it over this. You've gotta take one for the team. I've already talked to the lawyer. Since we returned the money, if you play nice, you'll only be in for a year or so."

Nathaniel's face went pale.

He knew this was the best move, but he couldn't stomach taking the blame!

He, the head of the Kingsley Family, ending up in prison, and when he got out, he'd be a joke!

"Don't worry, I'll make sure the Kingsley Group thrives. When you get out, it'll be our golden age!" Dominic coaxed.

Nathaniel snorted in disgust.

Dominic didn't say anything else.

The decision was made, and he didn't want to waste more time on Nathaniel. He had to handle the Kingsley Group's crisis and speed up the international e-commerce project to cover the huge loss.

He turned and walked away.

Watching Dominic's back, Nathaniel felt like he was going to explode with rage.

He never thought he'd end up like this!

It was the biggest humiliation of his life!
