Chapter 307 Penelope's Self-inflicted Suffering
One night, more times than she could count.
Penelope endured every bit of Sebastian's abuse.
She never imagined it would end like this.
She couldn't have foreseen that Sebastian could be so cruel that he could watch his own woman sleep with another man and that he could sleep with a woman he didn't even love.
How callous must someone's heart be to endure such things, to actually commit them?
At the very least, she could never imagine herself sleeping with a man she didn't love.
At the very least, she could never allow another woman to sleep with Dashiell. She would never forgive Sebastian!
She had to make sure he paid for what he'd done!
At that moment, she saw Sebastian suddenly throw back her covers.
In her moment of panic, she watched as Sebastian took a series of photos of her naked with his phone.
"Sebastian, what are you doing?!" Penelope's breakdown erupted in that instant.
Sebastian finished taking the photos, put down his phone, and said, "Just covering my bases."
"Sebastian!"
"Everyone knows your Kingsley family has power and influence. With Dominic doing so well in the noble family now, a nobody like me could be wiped out in a heartbeat by you. So, a few photos are just insurance."
"Sebastian, you're a beast!" Penelope spat out the words in fury.
"A beast? I'm a beast, and you're what? Less than a beast?" Sebastian sneered.
After venting his frustrations, Sebastian became chillingly cold.
"Using such vile, disgusting methods to set others up—do you still think you're so virtuous?" He spoke with a venomous edge.
Penelope wanted nothing more than to kill Sebastian.
"Well, Ms. Kingsley, how does it feel?" he taunted.
"Shut up, Sebastian! Shut up! You coward! I gave you a chance and you squandered it, choosing to treat me like this! I curse you to be hit by a car the moment you step outside!" Penelope roared, trembling with rage.
She couldn't accept what was happening.
She couldn't accept that her body had been so violated by this man!
"Don't worry, neither of us will be going hell anytime soon." Sebastian's demeanor remained eerily calm in the face of Penelope's collapse.
Even with the world collapsing around them tonight, Sebastian remained utterly indifferent.
Penelope's eyes burned with rage as she glared at him.
For a brief moment, she even entertained the thought of going down with him.
But no.
She still wanted Dashiell.
She vowed she would never give up on Dashiell in this lifetime!
"If you don't want to end up on tape during our… activities, I suggest you leave now," Sebastian said coldly, showing no concern for Penelope's emotional state.
Penelope gritted her teeth.
Struggling through her pain, she dragged herself off the bed, picked up her scattered clothes, and dressed.
She thought, 'One day, I will make him pay double!'
"Penelope," Sebastian called out abruptly.
Penelope turned sharply, her anger palpable.
"We could still work together," Sebastian said smoothly. "I'm sure Dominic could use my help."
"Dream on!" After everything she had endured, Penelope had no intention of ever working with Sebastian again.
"The photos on my phone are already in my personal Dropbox. If you try to have me killed or refuse to cooperate, I'll upload them online. I'm sure countless men would love to see Ms. Kingsley's private photos—especially your beloved Dashiell…"
"Sebastian!" Penelope's voice rose to a scream.
She had never imagined she would meet such a repugnant man.
She could never have foreseen that someone so powerless, someone she would normally look down on, would threaten her like this.
"Well, I've got nothing left to lose. I can spend my life in poverty if need be. But it's a real shame to see someone like you, Ms. Kingsley, have your glittering life destroyed…"
Penelope flung open the door and stormed out.
She could hardly bear to listen any longer.
Sebastian watched her leave with a cold smile, taking in the way she slammed the door behind her.
To get close to the Kingsley family was a must for him.
With Penelope delivering herself right to him, he certainly intended to make the most of it.
Sebastian's expression turned cold.
The thought of Seraphina with another man tonight made him feel an unsettling churn in his gut.
He might not love Seraphina, but the idea of her being with someone else was something he couldn't stomach.
Just imagining Seraphina with another man made him clench his fists in anger!
Rejecting Seraphina wasn't due to a lack of desire. In fact, he wanted her intensely. She was precisely the one he wanted to take his frustrations out on.
But the reason he ultimately chose this path wasn't just to force Penelope into cooperation. It was because Atticus had attached a condition to the shares in the House of Everhart Bank he'd received. He was forbidden from rekindling a relationship with Seraphina or having any sexual relations with her. If he did, the shares would automatically revert to Atticus.
He simply couldn't risk it. He couldn't afford to touch Seraphina.
The more he thought about it, the angrier he became.
Sebastian grabbed his phone and dialed. "What's the situation?"
He was asking about Seraphina and the man she was with.
"Cecilia took Seraphina away," came the response. "To avoid suspicion, I didn't stop the man I called."
"Where did Cecilia take her?" Sebastian's face darkened immediately.
"I don't know," the voice on the other end replied.
Sebastian's hand trembled as he held the phone.
"It's not too hard to guess. Cecilia must have taken Seraphina to Dashiell…"
With a crash, Sebastian threw the phone to the ground.
He never expected Dashiell would end up benefiting from this mess.
He was almost certain that Seraphina wouldn't end up with Dashiell, but Penelope's schemes had put Seraphina right in Dashiell's path.
Even if he didn't want her, even if he couldn't have her, Sebastian didn't want another man to have her, especially not so easily.
His face was a picture of fury.
He vowed he would make Dashiell and everyone else who had wronged him pay for it all!
As dawn broke, a sliver of light crept through the curtains, illuminating a large bed in the room.
Seraphina slowly opened her eyes.
It felt like she had only slept for a little while.
Exhausted and spent, she had fallen into a deep sleep after everything.
She gazed at Dashiell lying beside her, who was still seemingly asleep.
So, everything from last night wasn't just a dream.
