Chapter 439 Cecilia Got Her Period
Half a month later, Cecilia got her period.
When she woke up and saw that little bit of blood on her underwear, she felt totally crushed.
All those days, George had been taking such good care of her, bringing her meals every day.
All those days, she drank pure milk.
And now, she got her period.
She wondered if Alaric would be bummed out.
Cecilia changed her underwear, cleaned up, put on a pad, and got ready.
She thought not only Alaric would be bummed, but she was too.
After getting dressed and putting on makeup, she went downstairs, kinda dreading facing George.
She sat at the dining table, and George still had all these nutritious breakfasts ready for her.
"George," Cecilia said, holding her utensils, feeling a lump in her throat.
"Is it not to your taste?" George asked.
"No, it's just that I..." Cecilia gritted her teeth. "I got my period."
George was stunned for a couple of seconds before he reacted.
He looked visibly disappointed but said, "It's okay. You and Mr. Whitaker are still young. Taking your time. It's not a big deal."
She suddenly felt it was so hard.
Even though this was the first setback, it was still super stressful.
"Mrs. Whitaker, please eat more. Even though you're not pregnant, getting your body ready is just as important. A well-nourished body makes it easier to conceive," George advised.
"Okay." Cecilia smiled slightly.
Then she slowly ate her breakfast.
She felt really down today.
She sighed heavily, and after breakfast, she got in Augustus's car and called Alaric, "Alaric."
"Sounds like you're in a bad mood?" Alaric raised an eyebrow.
"I'm afraid it might upset you," Cecilia really found it hard to say.
"You got your period," Alaric said directly.
"Did George tell you?" Cecilia was surprised.
"I guessed," Alaric said. "Based on your cycle, your period should be coming up around now."
"Are you upset?" Cecilia asked.
"No, I'm not upset. I've been thinking about it these past few days, and now that you got it, I feel relieved," Alaric said lightly.
"I've made up my mind," Alaric suddenly said.
"What?" Cecilia asked.
"I'll come back once a month during your ovulation period," Alaric said firmly.
Wasn't that a bit much?
"On one hand, it's to prepare for pregnancy, and on the other, it meets physical needs. We've been apart for too long; it's easy to have hormonal imbalances," Alaric explained logically.
"You just want a reasonable excuse to have sex with me, right?" Cecilia said directly.
"You're so smart, honey. You know exactly what I'm thinking," Alaric said.
Cecilia scoffed, but she had to admit, hearing Alaric's relaxed tone made her feel much better.
"I'll be back on time next month," Alaric said.
"Suit yourself," Cecilia pretended to be indifferent.
But the smile on her lips was obvious.
They chatted a bit more before hanging up.
Cecilia put down her phone, leaned back in the seat, and the smile on her lips seemed to never fade.
The thought of Alaric coming back once a month filled her with anticipation.
Augustus glanced at Cecilia's smile in the rearview mirror, his usually expressionless face showing a faint, almost imperceptible smile at that moment.
Alaric had been lonely for too long.
Finally, he found someone to warm his heart.
Arriving at the Lockhart Group, Cecilia walked into the office, and Rose brought her a glass of milk.
Seeing the milk, Cecilia's eyelid twitched.
What was the point of chugging it for half a month?
She wanted to switch to coffee out of spite but then accepted it.
George was right; it's good to nourish the body before pregnancy.
She refocused and asked Rose, "Did you handle the tasks I set up yesterday?"
"Yep, you'll get feedback within the time frame," Rose said.
"Good." Cecilia nodded. "What's on the agenda for today?"
"Nothing major. But Mr. Lockhart's secretary just told me that Spectrum Pulse Magazine wants to do an exclusive interview with you. They want to know if you have time. This kind of positive exposure is good for the company. Mr. Lockhart's secretary hopes you can accept it," Rose reported.
Cecilia smiled.
What the secretary wanted was really what Theodore wanted.
She said, "Okay, let me know when it's scheduled."
"Sure thing." Rose nodded.
"You can get back to work," Cecilia said.
With that, Rose turned to leave.
Just as she was about to go, she suddenly remembered something and turned back to Cecilia, saying, "Ms. Lockhart, the Kingsley Group seems to be making moves recently. They're said to be developing international e-commerce. In other words, they will strategically cooperate with an international e-commerce company to open international channels. I heard the Kingsley Group is investing heavily in this project."
Cecilia's eyes narrowed.
Last time, the Kingsley Group invested $99 billion in Innovation Arc, a project that could only break even, maybe even incur slight losses. The key point was, the return on this project will be slow, given it was an official collaboration with lengthy processes. Now, the Kingsley Group was investing in international e-commerce. Where was Dominic getting all this money?
What scheme was Dominic up to now?
"Ms. Lockhart?" Rose called softly, seeing Cecilia lost in thought.
"Okay, I got it. You can go now," Cecilia said.
"Yes," Rose answered and left.
After Rose left, Cecilia immediately called Cassius.
When he picked up, he asked, "Am I that useful?"
"Yes, you are," Cecilia replied bluntly.
Cassius was speechless.
If it weren't for Alaric, he wouldn't bother with Cecilia.
"What is it? Just spill it." Cassius sounded impatient.
"I heard the Kingsley Group is causing trouble again. Can you check what their international e-commerce project is all about, how much they're investing, and what the expected outcome is? Most importantly, who is the introducer for this international e-commerce project? And another crucial point, where is Dominic getting the money to invest in this project?" Cecilia said in an organized manner.
"Got it," Cassius said lazily. "I'll get back to you once I find out."
"Thanks," Cecilia said.
"You should thank Alaric," Cassius said bluntly.
With that, he hung up.
Cecilia pursed her lips, thinking that Cassius really needed someone to keep him in check.
When Cecilia was focused on her work, suddenly, the phone rang again.
Cecilia glanced at the ID and answered, "Seraphina."
"Tomorrow, I'm divorcing Dashiell," Seraphina said directly.
"Seraphina, I..." Cecilia didn't know what to say.
"I'm just informing you, don't try to persuade me," Seraphina said bluntly.
Cecilia just said, "If you regret it, that's on you. Don't come crying to me."
Seraphina snorted coldly, completely indifferent.
