Chapter 471 The Game (16) Dominic's Cunning and Deceit

Afternoon hit, and bam, another news alert.

Cecilia clicked it open and, surprise surprise, there was a pic of Lyra.

In Dominic's private pad, she was rocking his clothes and getting all cozy with him. Clearly, this went down last night. The lovey-dovey shots screamed "we're a thing."

Cecilia stared at it for a bit.

Not that she was feeling anything.

She was just thinking, Dominic was a sly one.

Just when she was about to hit rock bottom, he clung to the Monroe Family like a lifeline.

With Dominic and Lyra's fling out in the open, the Monroe Family wouldn't just sit back; they'd totally back him up.

When it came to scheming, Dominic was in a league of his own.

And judging by Lyra's smitten look in the pic, she was probably head over heels for him.

Dominic sure knew how to play the game with women.

Otherwise, in her past life, she wouldn't have been played like a fiddle by him.

Rose, standing there ready to report, didn't dare to say a word.

She knew Cecilia was looking at the news about Dominic and Lyra.

Was Cecilia still hung up on Dominic, and that's why she was so ticked off?

But then again, that didn't add up.

After all, Alaric was a total upgrade from Dominic in every way.

When Dominic got Tomas's call, he was still fuming.

Tomas was livid about the whole Lyra relationship leak.

He tore into Dominic like never before.

But Dominic had to suck it up, swallowing his rage.

Tomas yelled, "Dominic, I know your game. You leaked your thing with Lyra now just to force my hand! You played me!"

"Mr. Monroe, I really love Lyra, and she really likes me. It's not like that. If you think I'm not good enough for her, I can back off," Dominic said.

"Cut the crap. Now everyone knows about you two, and you want me to be the bad guy who breaks you up? What will everyone think of her??" Tomas fumed. "Dominic, I could strangle you right now!"

"I'm sorry, Mr. Monroe. But I genuinely love Lyra," Dominic kept on.

"Enough!" Tomas couldn't take it anymore.

The fact that everyone now knew about Dominic and Lyra's thing forced him to accept Dominic. But he had zero interest in the Kingsley family's mess. He'd written Dominic off, but now he had to deal with him.

Dominic held the phone, not daring to say a word.

Seemed like he was waiting for Tomas to cool down.

After a long pause, Tomas finally said, "Dominic, I'll give you one more shot. If this happens again, no matter what, I'm done with you!"

"Thank you," Dominic said.

"About the loan, don't even try to argue, it'll just make the Kingsley Group's mess worse," Tomas said bluntly, "So, someone from the Kingsley Family has to take the fall. It's gotta be Nathaniel."

Dominic's eyes narrowed.

He'd thought about it too.

The easiest way out was to play dumb and pin it all on Nathaniel.

"But if we do that, he'll face legal trouble. I talked to a lawyer, and for this kind of fraud, even if we pay back the loan, he could get one to three years! Nathaniel's old now..." Dominic protested.

"To achieve big things, you can't sweat the small stuff. Lay it out for Nathaniel; if he gets it, he won't say no." Tomas was losing patience.

"Got it." Dominic didn't push further.

"The main thing now is to pay back the loan and fix this mess fast. Otherwise, the international e-commerce project can't kick off. I've checked it out; it's got huge potential. The Kingsley Group's future hinges on this project," Tomas reminded.

"I know, but the problem is, the Kingsley Group's broke. We've sunk a ton into the Innovation Arc project, and now we're out of cash. That's why we took the risk with the fraudulent loan. We've already mortgaged everything, except Nathaniel's shares, but he's only got 50% left. And even if a bank would take our shares as collateral, I'm worried someone might swoop in and take over the Kingsley Group."

"How did the Kingsley Group end up like this?" Tomas asked, teeth clenched.

"If it weren't for Cecilia's meddling..." Dominic grumbled.

"Don't blame others for your screw-ups! It's your lack of ability," Tomas snapped.

"Yes." Dominic nodded. "It's my fault."

"No more excuses!" Tomas said coldly. "I'll find a way to get you the billion dollars, but remember, Dominic, this is the last time. Screw up again, and you're on your own!"

"Thank you, Mr. Monroe, I swear there won't be a next time!" Dominic promised.

He couldn't help but feel a bit excited.

"Fix this mess. And as for you and Lyra, don't see her until it's sorted," Tomas said coldly. "I'll have someone take Lyra away immediately."

"Yes." Dominic didn't dare argue.

The call ended abruptly.

A wicked grin spread across Dominic's face.

The Monroe Family was still dancing to his tune.

His eyes shifted, and his expression changed instantly. He picked up the phone and dialed, "Lyra, Tomas just called, saying he wants to take you back. I really can't stand the thought of losing you."

Lyra's face showed her displeasure.

She'd only been with Dominic for a day and now had to leave.

She couldn't stand it either.

"Wait for me, I'll be right back," Dominic said quickly.

Dominic hung up and headed straight to his private apartment.

He had a new game plan.

The best way to get the Monroe Family's help was to make Lyra completely devoted to him!
