Chapter 240 Alaric the Shameless
If Alaric was from a noble family, it could explain why Dominic couldn't outmaneuver him.
But if that was true, what was Alaric's connection to the Whitaker family?
She hadn't heard of any ties between the Whitakers and nobility.
Of course, Alaric wouldn't answer Cecilia's questions. He just stayed silent.
Cecilia rewrapped Alaric's wound. "Do I need to tape it? It won't breathe, which is bad for healing."
"I'm fine," Alaric said casually.
Cecilia knew better. Alaric was worried the wound might tear and bleed, revealing him. But who was he hiding from?
Her eyes narrowed. "I heard the Whitaker family had ties with the old Whitaker nobles of the Yakurosean Empire."
Alaric didn't react.
"Is that true?" Cecilia asked, curious about his identity.
Alaric's throat moved slightly. She'd heard a man's Adam's apple was sexy. She used to be indifferent, but now she got it. A good-looking guy was attractive in every way.
"Are you talking about the royal Whitaker family that once controlled the nobles and was then wiped out by them?" Alaric asked bluntly, surprising Cecilia.
"I just mentioned it casually," she said, suddenly hesitant. She didn't want to hear more.
Alaric smiled disdainfully. "Are you sure it was casual?"
Cecilia gritted her teeth, feeling provoked. She was about to speak when Alaric said, "Anyway, I won't say anything."
'Then why say anything at all?' She'd been emotionally stirred up countless times. Some truths scared her.
"Let me go out," Cecilia said, not wanting to be conflicted anymore. She thought, 'Things will work out.'
She chose this path. No matter the challenge, she'd face it. She turned to leave, but someone grabbed her arm.
Cecilia frowned. What did he want now?
"Come here," Alaric commanded, still domineering.
"What are you doing?" Cecilia asked.
"I'm finishing what I started earlier," Alaric replied.
"Alaric."
"Didn't I say I couldn't control myself?"
"You seemed to be doing fine," Cecilia retorted. He'd been so passionate earlier, now he seemed calm. She admired his self-control a bit.
"I'm not doing well," Alaric said bluntly.
Cecilia glared at him. The next second, he pulled her hand and leaned in...
Cecilia's mind went blank, feeling like she was about to explode. Could he be any more shameless?
'Where's his reserve? The sense of proportion? The shame?' she pondered.
She just stared at Alaric, watching him the whole time. For a long time, she felt like her hand was going to rot. She kept washing her palm over and over.
"Come help me take a bath."
"Alaric, you can't be so insatiable! Wasn't what you did just now enough?" Cecilia's face turned red with urgency, and Alaric liked it a lot.
Cecilia felt so embarrassed under Alaric's gaze. 'Who should really feel ashamed? Who was the one doing shameless things so righteously just now?'
Alaric explained, "If I bathe myself, my wound might get wet."
Cecilia asked, "Can't you just skip bathing?"
Alaric replied, "No."
Cecilia continued, "That's your problem."
"Anyway, you've already seen the most important parts..." Alaric trailed off, looking a bit shy.
'He's pretending!' Cecilia thought.
"What haven't you seen already?" Alaric said, throwing a flirtatious look at Cecilia.
'Damn. When a man acts coquettish, it's worse than anything a woman can do,' she thought to herself.
Cecilia always felt she compromised with Alaric because he annoyed her. If she didn't satisfy him, he'd keep nagging. So, she gave in again.
She risked her hands rotting to give Alaric a bath.
Finally, she finished washing him. Cecilia got wet and even sweated a bit, so she decided to take a bath herself. She walked out in a bathrobe and saw Alaric already lying on the bed. He had finally closed the door.
Cecilia ignored Alaric, called the mall to send a new dress, and then returned to the bed, lying next to him. She was used to both of them sleeping in the same bed.
Cecilia closed her eyes. After all the fuss, she was really tired and wanted to sleep. Then she felt someone hugging her from behind.
Cecilia was speechless.
Could he stay away from her?
They had a fake marriage.
Did he know what that meant?
She really wanted to curse!
Seraphina was woken up by Magnolia . Her voice was clearly angry, "Seraphina, is this how you take care of Dashiell? Do you really want him to die?"
Seraphina was baffled by the yelling. She remembered she was playing a game. But because she lost two rounds, she got angry and stopped playing. She put her phone aside, was spacing out, and occasionally checked if Dashiell was uncomfortable, but she fell asleep.
She remembered the last time she checked on Dashiell, he looked fine, probably not uncomfortable. But now, Dominic's head was covered in cold sweat. He looked a bit scary. Dashiell's private doctor was giving him painkillers.
Magnolia was furious. Had she trusted Seraphina too much?Seraphina, from childhood to adulthood, had always been careless. She didn't know how to care for people at all.
After yelling at Seraphina, Magnolia anxiously watched the doctor's actions.
After a while, the doctor finally slowly injected the painkiller into Dashiell's body and removed the needle. "Ms. Rainier, please press on Mr. Rainier's wound. The blood just returned, so press longer this time to stop the bleeding."
"Okay," Magnolia agreed and was about to reach out, but she suddenly paused and turned to Seraphina, "You come here!"
Seraphina looked reluctant.
"Hurry up and press on Dashiell's hand," Magnolia ordered.
"Why should I..." Seraphina's words were cut off by Magnolia's imposing manner.
She gritted her teeth and still walked over. Then she followed the doctor's instructions and pressed on Dashiell's hand. Even though Magnolia's face was very unpleasant, Seraphina still felt a bit guilty and didn't refuse.
"Seraphina, if I hadn't come in to check, Dashiell could have died, and you wouldn't even know!" Magnolia was still furious despite Seraphina's compliance. The more she thought about it, the angrier she got.
