Chapter 725 Chaotic Situation (30) Uncomfortable
Cassius watched helplessly as Alaric walked away.
Just like that, he left without any emotion.
He wondered how he should explain Alaric's departure to Cecilia.
Was it because a world war had broken out?
Or had Francis crawled out of his grave?
He suddenly felt an urge to beat Alaric to death.
Cassius stood outside the operating room, stomping his feet in frustration.
If the operating room door had opened a little later,
Cassius might have stomped a hole through the hallway.
The moment he saw the operating room door open, Cassius didn't hesitate for a second and ran over.
"How is Cecilia?" Cassius asked urgently.
At first, Cassius's kindness to Cecilia might have been for Alaric's sake.
But now, he genuinely felt sorry for Cecilia.
The doctor sighed.
Cassius was almost scared to death.
"Is Cecilia dead?" Cassius asked.
The doctor was startled by Cassius's words, his eyes widening. "Cecilia is not dead."
"If she's not dead, why are you sighing?" Cassius was a bit angry.
The doctor was also a bit speechless.
He was tired and sighed, so what?
He said, "Cecilia is temporarily out of danger, but the baby..."
"If the baby is lost, then it's lost." Cassius was prepared for this.
"Can you let me finish?" The doctor was running out of patience with Cassius.
Cassius paused, "Okay, go on."
"We didn't perform an abortion."
"What?" Cassius was a bit surprised.
"But that doesn't mean the baby can definitely be saved. It's just that there's still a chance for now," the doctor explained.
"Will Cecilia be in danger?"
"As long as the fetus is not out of the danger period, Cecilia will be at risk."
"Damn it! Didn't I tell you to perform an abortion?" Cassius was getting agitated.
If the baby is aborted, she can get pregnant again, right?
Can't they avoid putting Cecilia's life in danger?
Cassius was really on the verge of breaking down.
"Cecilia kept refusing, and we saw that the fetus still showed signs of life, so we decided to respect Cecilia's wishes one more time," the doctor explained. "Sometimes, in medicine, miracles do happen. Sometimes, willpower is stronger than medicine."
Cassius didn't know what to say.
If Cecilia didn't want an abortion, there was nothing he could do.
"Let's wait and see. As long as we keep monitoring her, Cecilia shouldn't have any major issues. But if there's another instance of heavy bleeding, we won't consider keeping the fetus; we'll perform an abortion immediately," the doctor added.
"Okay," Cassius nodded.
Next time, don't even ask for Cecilia's opinion, just perform the abortion.
After the doctor finished explaining, Cecilia was wheeled out.
Her face was still frighteningly pale.
Cassius really felt that Cecilia's strength sometimes made her heartbreaking.
He hurried over.
The moment he approached, he clearly saw Cecilia's eyes shift.
Cecilia was obviously looking for Alaric.
Cassius's heart ached unexpectedly.
He kept cursing Alaric in his mind.
He explained, "Alaric had to leave for something. You just focus on recovering; I'll stay with you."
Cecilia lowered her eyes.
The disappointment in her eyes was evident.
But she wasn't angry, nor did she show any dissatisfaction. She just nodded and accepted Alaric's departure.
Cassius looked at Cecilia.
His heart ached.
He was in pain.
How could Alaric be so heartless to Cecilia?
Cecilia was wheeled back to her room.
Her body was already extremely weak.
But at this moment, she just couldn't fall asleep.
Cecilia said, "Cassius, can you help me get a phone and replace my SIM card?"
"Do you need a phone? You can use mine," Cassius said quickly.
Cecilia shook her head, "If I use someone else's phone to call my parents, they'll get suspicious."
"You want to talk to Theodore and Genevieve, right?" Cassius realized.
He thought, Cecilia must really need Theodore and Genevieve's company right now.
He said, "How about I have someone bring Theodore and Genevieve over?"
"No. I just want to talk," Cecilia explained.
She didn't want Theodore and Genevieve to worry about her.
If they saw her current state, their hearts would probably break.
"Okay," Cassius wasn't very perceptive.
But at this moment, whatever Cecilia said, he would do.
He called someone to buy a phone for Cecilia and replace her SIM card.
Cecilia called Theodore and Genevieve, briefly explaining that she had been in Astralton City with Alaric handling some matters and telling them not to worry.
Theodore and Genevieve hadn't seen Cecilia for a long time and couldn't reach her by phone, so they were very anxious. Fortunately, they had spoken to Alaric a few times, but they were still somewhat puzzled. They were about to call the police when they finally received Cecilia's call.
Cecilia talked with Theodore and Genevieve for a while.
Only after Theodore and Genevieve's doubts were completely dispelled did she hang up the phone.
After hanging up, Cecilia's forced energy seemed to worsen.
Cassius quickly handed her a glass of water.
Cecilia glanced at Cassius, took the glass, and said thank you.
After drinking the water, she smiled lightly, "Cassius, thank you for your hard work."
"Don't say such sentimental things; I can't handle it," Cassius said softly.
Cecilia pursed her lips and said, "Cassius, you don't have to stay with me like this. You must have a lot of things to do."
"I'm fine," Cassius said directly.
"Doesn't Alaric need you?"
"Are you still thinking about him?" Cassius asked.
"Maybe," Cecilia said, "Francis is gone, and he must have a lot more to deal with."
"Alaric is really lucky to have a wife like you."
Cecilia didn't really want to be praised like that.
She just understood Alaric's pain of losing Francis.
To say she had no complaints about him, Cecilia couldn't do that.
Not to mention before, but today, couldn't Alaric wait until her surgery was over before leaving?
Forget it.
It must have been something urgent.
She said, "Cassius, how is Dashiell?"
"He seems to be back in his room; he won't die."
"Can you go check on him for me? He seemed to be seriously injured at the time."
"Take care of yourself first," Cassius was a bit speechless.
Cecilia was in such a state, yet she was still concerned about others!
"Please," Cecilia insisted.
Cassius had no choice.
He stood up, "I'll go check on Dashiell and then come back to stay with you. Don't be afraid; I've stationed a lot of people around, so there won't be any more danger."
"Okay," Cecilia nodded.
Cassius left.
The moment the door closed, Cecilia's eyes, filled with tears, couldn't hold back anymore and started to flow.
The pain in her heart, the immense pain, made it impossible for her to control herself.
But she didn't want to burden anyone else.
