Chapter 235 Alaric's Threat to Dominic

Dominic got knocked down hard by Alaric.

Dominic had dragged Cecilia back earlier because he saw Alaric chatting with her parents when he left with Penelope. He didn't expect Alaric to come looking for Cecilia so soon.

He got up and saw Alaric holding Cecilia possessively.

Cecilia leaned against Alaric, not daring to move. It wasn't Alaric's sudden anger that scared her; she was just afraid of bumping into his chest wound. She couldn't understand why he had to hold her in a way that made her hit his injury. Just thinking about it made her wince, even though Alaric showed no discomfort. No one could tell how he was really feeling.

"Dominic, if you touch Cecilia again, I will..." kill you!

Alaric didn't say the last words out loud, but his lips made it clear. The sinister vibe he gave off made it seem like he meant it.

Dominic gritted his teeth. He couldn't let Alaric's arrogance get to him. He had suffered enough humiliation from these two and swore it wouldn't happen again. But here he was, humiliated once more.

"Alaric, don't think too highly of yourself. Just because you got into public office doesn't mean you'll rise to power. Noble families aren't as simple as you think," Dominic spat.

Alaric sneered, "Then, Mr. Kingsley, you should be careful. It took a lot to get into public office. Don't fall behind or disappear halfway."

Dominic retorted, "Alaric, you'll fall one day."

Alaric shot back, "Right back at you."

Dominic stormed off, looking like he couldn't be bothered to argue anymore.

Cecilia watched him leave, knowing his downfall had already begun. Everything from the past life was coming back double.

"Ms. Lockhart, do you always stare at men like that?" Alaric said sarcastically.

She didn't even want to respond to such childishness. She got up from Alaric's embrace, ready to leave for lunch.

"Oh!" Cecilia's eyes widened in shock.

Alaric seemed both urgent and domineering, making it impossible for her to refuse. His chest wound hadn't fully healed, so she didn't dare push him away, afraid of hurting him. He pinned her against the wall, kissing her.

Dominic, having turned back instinctively, saw them kissing passionately. He even saw Cecilia's flushed face. He remembered his kisses with Cecilia were never this intense.

Dominic gritted his teeth, telling himself he didn't love Cecilia.

He didn't care who Cecilia kissed or slept with. What really pissed him off was how she insulted his pride. Even if she wasn't his, she couldn't be anyone else's. He had to make her pay and beg for mercy.

Alaric kissed Cecilia for what felt like forever. Her lips were swollen and hot, which was kind of funny. But Alaric still seemed unsatisfied. He touched her lips with his fingers, pressing a bit too hard.

"Alaric, that hurts!" Cecilia's eyes welled up. 'Why is he so mad?' she wondered. They had no real feelings for each other, at least she always said they wouldn't. So why was he angry if she had any dealings with other men? And Dominic hadn't even touched her. What was Alaric's problem?

Alaric finally let go of her lips, his anger slowly fading.

"What are you so mad about?" Cecilia asked.

"Can't I be petty?" Alaric shot back, clearly being childish.

"You're crazy."

"Yeah, only a crazy person would be afraid of you getting bullied. Only a crazy person like me would be a hundred times angrier if you were bullied than if I were!" Alaric sneered.

Cecilia was stunned. So he was just mad that Dominic bullied her. He felt bad about it. He wasn't mad at her; he was mad at himself. She felt a bit touched.

Her temper eased, and she spoke softly, "Anyway, Dominic didn't do anything to me."

"What do you consider 'anything'?" Alaric asked, almost in riddles. "If I hadn't shown up, were you planning to let Dominic do 'anything'?"

"I would have screamed," Cecilia assured him. "I care more about who touches me than being misunderstood or gossiped about."

Alaric's eyes flickered.

"Compared to Dominic, I'd rather it be you," Cecilia admitted. She was so repulsed by Dominic that she felt like she had spikes whenever he got close. But with Alaric, maybe she was just used to him.

She was used to Alaric doing whatever he wanted, but when she really refused, he would back off. So every time he did something, she felt confident she could push him away. She didn't know if this was trust. After all the cruel things she'd been through, she vowed never to trust anyone again, yet she trusted Alaric.

"Are you comparing me to Dominic?" Alaric shouted after a moment of silence.

"In a way, you both half-ass it," Cecilia said bluntly.

Alaric frowned.

"In terms of the number of women you've hooked up with," she added.

Alaric suddenly laughed. His smile was mischievous yet incredibly alluring. Cecilia was a bit intimidated. How attractive could a man be? Alaric was the standard!
