Chapter 123 Don't Worry, I Do Behave Myself
Seraphina lay back on the big bed, staring blankly at the ceiling. She felt a lot better after throwing up, but the more she thought about it, the more confused she got. How did she end up in bed with Dashiell? She vaguely remembered initiating it. No way. She had to clear things up with him to avoid any misunderstandings.
Seraphina was always one to act on her thoughts immediately. She went straight to find Dashiell to explain again. But as soon as she reached the door, she heard Dashiell arguing with his mother, Magnolia. She had never seen Dashiell lose his temper before. He was always gentle with everyone, and she never thought he could be so scary when angry. Fortunately, the argument didn't last long. Sensing that Magnolia was about to come out, she quickly left.
At that moment, she felt there was no need to say anything more to Dashiell. After all, Dashiell had made it very clear. He was a man. Any woman who seduced him would make him impulsive. It wasn't just her. If she kept explaining, it would really be too self-righteous. Seraphina couldn't help but touch her lips. Damn. She needed to brush her teeth a hundred times!
Later that night, Cecilia got up to drink water; she definitely wasn't waiting for Alaric to come back. However, when Alaric walked into the hall and saw her, his eyes clearly lit up, Cecilia couldn't be bothered with him. She turned and went upstairs.
"Aren't you going to wait for me?" Alaric asked, taking a long stride to catch up with Cecilia. She frowned, clearly a bit impatient. Alaric reached out to take Cecilia's water cup. "How did you know I was thirsty?"
Cecilia dodged. "I've already drunk from it," she said, meaning she had already used the cup.
"No problem, I don't mind." Alaric stretched out his arm and easily took the cup. Cecilia gritted her teeth. Alaric's lips curled into a triumphant smile. Sometimes, Cecilia really thought Alaric was childish. She watched as he drank the entire cup of water she had prepared.
Cecilia held back her frustration, grabbed Alaric's cup, turned, and went to the open kitchen to wash it clean and refill it. "I'll help you," Alaric offered, following her closely.
Cecilia refused, "I can do it myself. It's late; you should go to bed early."
"I'll sleep with you," Alaric blurted out. Cecilia glared at him. "We'll sleep in separate rooms together," he added.
Cecilia didn't want to waste words with Alaric. She refilled a cup of water, drank it, washed the cup, and put it back in its original place. She got up and went upstairs. Alaric followed her.
One in front, one behind. Cecilia opened the door and was about to go in when Alaric called out her name, "Cecilia." Her body stiffened. She was suddenly pinned against the wall outside the room by Alaric.
While struggling, she thought, 'Is Alaric made of iron? Why is he so heavy?' Cecilia used all her strength to push him, but he didn't budge. "To thank you for waiting up for me, I plan to repay you," Alaric said with a devilish smile, not caring about her resistance at all.
At that moment, Cecilia didn't even need to think to know what Alaric wanted to do. She quickly covered his mouth with her hand.
Alaric looked at her; his eyes had this magic that could easily make people fall for him. "Wasn't tonight enough?" she asked.
Alaric frowned, not quite getting what Cecilia meant. "What? you weren't satisfied and came back?" she raised an eyebrow.
At that moment, Alaric seemed to understand. He raised his hand and pulled Cecilia's hand away effortlessly. She turned her face to the side, unwilling to accept his kiss.
Alaric chuckled. "Did Seraphina tell you?"
Cecilia didn't respond. Tonight, when Rebecca was clinging to him, Seraphina did see it.
"Why didn't you come to the scene?" Alaric asked.
"I'm not interested," Cecilia rolled her eyes.
"But you were jealous," Alaric was certain.
"You're overthinking it, Mr. Whitaker!" Cecilia looked back at him, a bit agitated. "I just don't like people breaking promises."
"What?" Alaric was puzzled.
"You just said yesterday that you would behave yourself, and today, you couldn't hold back. Alaric, if you really can't control yourself, you'd better not say it. Saying it and not doing it is very annoying," Cecilia's tone was heavy.
"So you care a lot about whether I behave myself?" Alaric asked.
Cecilia felt hopeless. She was talking about his lack of integrity!
"I do behave myself," Alaric suddenly said with certainty. "Don't worry."
Cecilia completely ignored his promise. "It's late, I'm going to sleep." She also felt that saying more was useless. After all, their marriage was fake. He could do whatever he wanted, as long as he was happy. She would turn a blind eye.
"Good night," Alaric let go of Cecilia. Sometimes, she found him incredibly difficult, and other times, he was surprisingly easy to talk to.
Cecilia opened the door and walked into the room. After she went in, Alaric could clearly hear the sound of the door being locked from inside. He smiled helplessly. Not getting what he wanted was unpleasant!
The next day, when Cecilia got up for work, Alaric was still asleep. Maybe he was drunk last night and needed to recuperate today. After all, he reeked of alcohol last night. Cecilia didn't ask, and after breakfast, she took the car driven by Augustus to the company.
As soon as she walked into the company, she felt the people around her looking at her. She was sure there was nothing wrong with her appearance, so the only reason was that something had happened to her. She calmly walked into her office.
As soon as she entered, Rose, who usually did not change her expression, sounded a bit urgent as she called her "Mrs. Whitaker."
"What's wrong?" Cecilia calmly sat in her office chair. Augustus, as usual, went to the sofa.
"Roy is on the rooftop threatening to jump," Rose replied.
Cecilia looked at Rose. "He keeps saying you're forcing him to die."
Cecilia's face darkened. Roy would stop at nothing to make her life difficult.
"Mrs. Whitaker, do you want to go up and take a look? I just saw several senior executives trying to persuade Roy," Rose said.
"Not for now," Cecilia replied.
"But..."
"Go check the situation and keep me updated."
"Yes," Rose didn't say more. She hadn't worked with Cecilia for long, but at that moment, she suddenly believed that Cecilia could handle everything.
