Chapter 227 Interview (3) Instant Kill

Cecilia was watching the comments on the live stream and suddenly burst out laughing.

People commented in the live stream.

[Alaric is a master of time management.]

[Despite juggling so many women, he still finds time to study.]

Some even joked that all scumbags should take lessons from Alaric.

Cecilia didn't know whether to laugh or cry at these comments about Alaric.

She kept watching his interview.

After Alaric introduced himself, the interviewers started firing questions.

The first one asked, "Mr. Whitaker, you said you're not interested in business and chose to study social law. Is that because you can't compete with your older brothers, or do you genuinely want to go in a different direction?"

Alaric replied calmly, "The Whitaker family isn't like other wealthy families; we don't have as much drama. Let me share a story. When the Whitaker Group bought the XM900 software system, it was my decision. All the directors and executives disagreed, but it ended up being our most profitable project. No one has topped that achievement since."

His words left everyone stunned.

Dominic's face turned sour as he listened.

He remembered the XM900 software system. It was a project by some college students and popular among them. Dominic had considered buying it but thought it was overpriced at $2 million and passed on it.

He even mocked the team, saying they were overestimating themselves.

Later, he found out the Whitaker Group bought it for $2 million and signed the team for another $2 million. He thought they were wasting money.

He never expected the software to become mainstream and dominate the market.

Dominic regretted not seeing its potential and felt a bit guilty.

He consoled himself, thinking the Whitaker Group was the top family in the Yakurosean Empire, so it made sense they had an edge. The Kingsley Group was last, so it was understandable.

But now, hearing Alaric say it was his decision, really hit him.

From a typical business perspective, no one would have made that deal.

Dominic's market analysis wasn't weak. He thought it was a losing deal, and most capitalists would agree.

But Alaric's foresight put him ahead.

Dominic realized he didn't lose to the Whitaker Group; he lost to Alaric.

The more he thought about it, the harder it was to accept.

He tried convincing himself that Alaric was lying, but he knew no one would dare lie in an official interview. Getting caught would mean being blacklisted by the noble family and possibly facing legal trouble.

Another interviewer asked, "With your talents and a good platform, why didn't you choose the easier path? And for a long time, you weren't doing your job properly. Even I, who don't follow gossip, know about your past."

Alaric replied, "I was lost for a while. During the Forbes Celebrity List selection, I said meeting a very important woman changed me. I wanted to become better for her."

The comments section went wild.

[Oh my God, is Alaric confessing his feelings?]

[When he said he became better for a woman, I thought it was just an excuse. Now I see it's true.]

[So, when Alaric was being selected for the Forbes list, Cecilia and Dominic were discussing marriage... think about it.]

"A man should establish a family before a career," Alaric said. "Now that I have a family, my focus is on achieving something in my career. It's my responsibility as a man and a husband."

His words were so righteous that the interviewers had nothing to criticize.

The interviewer switched topics, "What's your career plan if you pass the official interview?"

Alaric nodded respectfully, "If I pass, it would be an honor. I'll cherish the opportunity, study hard, and work diligently. Talking about specific plans now might be too vague since I haven't had in-depth contact yet. The only thing I can promise is that the country's honor is my honor, and its disgrace is my disgrace. My goal is to become the Minister."

The Minister was the highest position below the noble family leader, which was hereditary and couldn't be held by an outsider. But the Minister's role could be earned.

"You have quite the ambition," said the interviewer, who happened to be the Minister of the Monroe family. "But a soldier who doesn't want to be a general is not a good soldier. I hope you can do what you say."

"I will do my best," Alaric replied.

His interview performance was top-notch.

Dominic, who was up next, felt the pressure. He remembered the last time he was selected for the Forbes list, he followed Alaric and didn't perform well.

Now, because of Alaric, he felt nervous again.

He always felt overshadowed by Alaric's achievements.

The more Dominic spoke, the less confident he became.

The final result was unsatisfactory. Out of five interviewees, he ranked third.

Dominic had never been able to accept second place, let alone third!
