Chapter 433 Treated with Care
Lily totally knew Cassius was back.
In a place this strange, no way she was catching any Z's.
So she just kept tossing and turning.
Then, she heard the door creak open and sat up.
Cassius looked like he was having a rough night.
Even in the dim light, it was obvious.
He glanced at Lily as she got up, his eyes tracking her every move.
Lily whispered, "You're back?"
"Did I wake you?" Cassius raised an eyebrow.
"No," Lily quickly said. "I just couldn't sleep."
"Go to bed, it's late," Cassius said.
"What about you?" Lily noticed Cassius with a cigarette, heading to the balcony.
"I'm gonna get some air. Had a few drinks, feeling kinda tipsy," Cassius replied.
"Mr. Blackburn, do you not like sharing a bed with me?" Lily asked.
Cassius turned to her and said straight up, "I've never shared a bed with a woman without having sex. Honestly, it's super awkward."
To Cassius, women were basically for hooking up.
So having a woman in bed and not doing anything? Not his thing.
Lily knew a bit about Cassius.
Lots of women in the entertainment biz had been with Cassius. He was generous, and many tried to get on his good side. Rumor had it he never turned anyone down. So she'd heard stories about him being generous to women but never letting any woman cling to him—no emotional ties, just fun.
Now, Cassius had to marry her.
It was easy to see how tough that was for him to swallow.
She always worried Cassius would take it out on her.
But from what she could tell, Cassius seemed like a reasonable guy who wouldn't cause trouble for no reason.
Understanding this, she genuinely wanted to get along with Cassius. She didn't expect a lifetime together, just hoped for some peace. She'd never liked conflicts since she was a kid.
She said, "I'll sleep on the couch. It looks pretty spacious. It'll be fine for me."
Cassius said with some emotion, "If my dad finds out you're on the couch, he'll kill me. Don't get me in trouble."
"Okay," Lily didn't argue.
Cassius looked at Lily.
The last time they hooked up in the car, he didn't really see what Lily looked like. When she came to find him yesterday, she had heavy makeup on. Today, when she went for the abortion, she still had a lot of makeup. Only now he could see Lily's real face.
She wasn't drop-dead gorgeous, but since she worked in the entertainment industry, she was still better looking than most. Right now, without makeup, she looked kinda pure, with a face that still had some youthful innocence.
He was suddenly shocked, wondering if Lily was really young.
He couldn't help but ask, "How old are you?"
Lily was startled, realizing just how little she and Cassius knew about each other.
They didn't even know the basics.
She answered, "I'm twenty. I'm of legal age to marry."
"Twenty? Didn't you go to college?" Cassius frowned.
"No," Lily said, feeling a bit embarrassed. She explained, "My grades were just meh. I wasn't into studying. I wanted to go to drama school, but my family wasn't having it. First, the tuition was crazy high, and they couldn't swing it. Second, they thought we were just regular folks and couldn't make it big in the entertainment world, so they didn't back me up. Later, I left our small town and came to Serenovia City to make my own way. I graduated high school two years ago. Besides landing a spokesperson gig from Ms. Lockhart, I haven't really done much."
"Alright," Cassius replied.
He didn't seem too interested, so Lily didn't go on about herself.
"Mr. Blackburn," Lily called out cautiously again.
Cassius thought Lily seemed scared of him, always on edge.
"I'll try not to cause you any trouble," Lily said straight up.
Cassius didn't care.
He figured most women didn't have the guts to mess with him, so he didn't bother to threaten her more.
He said, "Go to sleep. I'll come back to bed when I get tired."
"Okay," Lily nodded.
She seemed really obedient.
Cassius walked out to the balcony.
At that moment, he inexplicably smiled.
He didn't even know why he was smiling.
To be honest, Lily gave him the vibe of a small, delicate rabbit.
He wondered if "Lily" was her stage name.
He didn't bother to ask.
After all, in the end, they would part ways.
Alaric only stayed in Serenovia City for two days, leaving early on the third morning.
Every time Alaric left, it seemed to be at dawn, always when Cecilia was still half-asleep. He would kiss her lips gently before reluctantly leaving.
And every time Cecilia woke up, the room would be empty.
Then there would be a note left behind.
"Wait for me at home. — Love, Alaric."
Cecilia looked at Alaric's beautiful handwriting.
Just a few short sentences, but they warmed her heart immensely.
"So cheesy," Cecilia muttered.
She wanted to look away from the note.
After all, she had read it over and over again.
If she kept looking, the whole day would pass.
Cecilia couldn't even remember if she had experienced this kind of passionate love in her past life.
She couldn't even remember what her feelings for Dominic had been like back then.
Anyway, she was sure she never felt as dependent and attached to Dominic as she did to Alaric.
At this moment, she even had the urge to call Alaric and ask him to come back.
If not for a bit of rationality, she might really have done it.
She reluctantly put the note down, got out of bed, and went to wash up, change clothes, and put on makeup.
Downstairs, George saw her get up and quickly brought out breakfast, setting it on the dining table and standing respectfully to the side.
Seeing such a lavish breakfast, Cecilia felt a bit helpless.
She wasn't even pregnant yet, and Alaric was already making such a fuss. If she did get pregnant, she bet Alaric would treat her like a precious treasure.
In less than three months, she might become as fat as a pig.
The thought was terrifying.
Yet amidst the terror, there was an undeniable sweetness.
Everything Alaric did for her made her feel happy.
