Chapter 577 Some Feelings Just Fade away over Time

Feeling a bit jittery, Lucy called out softly, "Ms. Everhart?"

Seraphina snapped back to reality and suddenly burst into laughter.

It was a bit over the top.

She said, "I didn't mean to barge in. Didn't expect to see you two together. I think I interrupted something."

"No, it's not like that..." Lucy quickly tried to explain, but under Dashiell's intense gaze, she clammed up.

Not really noticing much, Seraphina said, "I won't bother you anymore. I'll head out."

"Don't you need me to take you back?" Dashiell asked in a deep voice.

"No need. I was just being stubborn. The way I came, I can go back the same way," Seraphina said with a forced smile, trying to make it look natural.

Dashiell, watching her forced smile, looked at her indifferently and asked, "Want me to inform Sebastian?"

"No," Seraphina refused immediately. "I don't want him to get the wrong idea."

Hearing this, Dashiell pressed his lips together and then nodded slightly.

"I'm leaving," Seraphina said and left.

She originally wanted to say a few more words or tease Lucy, but found she couldn't say a single word.

Seraphina left Dashiell's house like she was fleeing.

She ran back to her car and slammed the door shut.

She gripped the steering wheel tightly with both hands but didn't start the car for a long time.

She didn't even know why she felt so uncomfortable at that moment or why she couldn't control her tears.

Seraphina thought it must be because she was too embarrassed by the misunderstanding.

Dashiell was with Lucy tonight; how could he have been at the abandoned warehouse?

Seraphina originally thought it was Penelope threatening Dashiell. After all, Penelope would do anything for Dashiell! Plus, that familiar feeling made Seraphina believe that the person who saved her was Dashiell.

But it was all her imagination.

Thinking of this, Seraphina tried to calm herself down.

However, in her calmness, all she could think about was Lucy lying in Dashiell's bed.

She thought, 'There really is no such thing as eternal love. Some feelings just fade away over time.'

Then Seraphina started the car and left.

In front of a large floor-to-ceiling window, Dashiell watched the car slowly drive away.

There were cigarette butts all over the floor in front of him.

Dashiell was likely holding himself back, trying not to chase after her. In the end, he didn't.

He never wanted Seraphina to feel guilty, nor did he want to use morality to bind her feelings.

Since Dashiell decided to let go, he would let go completely.

He didn't want to burden anyone. Therefore, when Dashiell left with the bomb and threw it out the warehouse door, the explosion blew him back several feet, and he took a long time to regain consciousness.

Once he woke up, he didn't think about taking Seraphina away. Not wanting Seraphina to know what he had done, he called Sebastian using a hidden number and a disguised voice.

After notifying Sebastian, Dashiell saw Sebastian carrying Seraphina away before returning to his car and driving off.

Dashiell's back was covered in wounds from the explosion.

He knew that Penelope's death and the warehouse explosion would draw a police investigation the next day. To avoid unnecessary trouble, he skipped the hospital and went home alone, hoping to find someone who could help him with his injuries.

Cassius wasn't around, and Alaric and Cecilia were stuck at the hospital. The only person Dashiell could think of and trust was Lucy. So, he asked her to come over and help him out.

Of course, Dashiell didn't tell Magnolia because he knew she'd freak out.

He never wanted to burden anyone unnecessarily, even as a kid.

But he didn't expect Seraphina to show up.

Dashiell didn't think Seraphina would figure out he was the one who saved her, given her usual distracted nature and the chaos of the situation.

He didn't want Seraphina to feel guilty or burdened when facing him.

Penelope's feelings for Dashiell and the trouble she caused him were a lot like his feelings for Seraphina and the trouble he caused her.

He knew what they said, "Treat others as you want to be treated."

So, Dashiell let Lucy lie in his bed, making Seraphina think he was with Lucy all night, completely clearing up any doubts she had.

"Mr. Rainier," Lucy called out from behind.

Dashiell's eyes flickered slightly.

He put out his cigarette and turned to face Lucy.

Lucy continued, "I saw Ms. Everhart looked really upset when she left. Shouldn't you explain things to her?"

"No need," Dashiell said flatly.

Lucy didn't get it. Clearly, Dashiell still had feelings for Seraphina, so why push her away?

"Can you keep helping with the wounds on my back?" Dashiell said, changing the subject. Lucy quickly nodded.

Thinking about Dashiell's back injuries made her worried.

She couldn't understand what had caused such severe wounds.

Just as she was halfway through treating the wounds, there was a sudden knock on the door...

The next day, Cecilia woke up. She had spent the night at the hospital with Alaric and figured they'd be there for a while.

She stretched and turned to see Alaric staring at her.

When Alaric saw her wake up, he gave her a charming smile and said, "Good morning, honey."

Cecilia asked, "Why didn't you wake me up when you got up?"

Alaric replied, "You were sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to disturb you."

Cecilia blushed a little and thought, 'Alaric can be so sweet sometimes.'

Sitting up in bed, she asked, "What time is it now?"

Alaric responded, "It's just after 8."

She usually woke up automatically at 7, so she must have been really tired lately.

"Honey," Alaric called her.

Being called that made Cecilia feel very happy and good. She responded, trying to act calm. "What?"

"Put on your clothes," Alaric reminded her.

Cecilia was startled and quickly looked down, feeling shy.

They had rushed to the hospital yesterday and didn't bring any clothes, so she was wearing a hospital gown.

The gown was too big and hung loosely on her. When she got up, she didn't notice that she was almost exposed.

Seeing this, Cecilia quickly covered herself.

Alaric said, "I'm afraid I can't hold back."

"After all, seeing you but not being able to touch you is very frustrating," Alaric continued.

At that moment, Cecilia saw the desire in Alaric's eyes.

He clearly wanted to make love.

Cecilia quickly got out of bed, covering herself. She said, "I'm going to the bathroom."

Even though they had been married for a long time and had made love many times, she still felt shy when Alaric teased her.
